My recent trip to the ER came after a severe seizure (no idea why) which caused me to fall out of the shower, shattering a glass door. The squad took me to the ER. I was dehydrated in part do to medication side effects and not drinking water for some hours. They needed a urine sample and I was not able to urinate They started an IV of fluids and I suggested drinking water as well. (they said no that's not necessary) After an hour they decided to bring water for me to drink. They decided on using a catheter and I refused. No discomfort and I was very dehydrated. They insisted and I said no. 15-20mns later a new nurse walked in holding a catheter device and I said no.... .. I woke up at 2am because a group of nurses were talking and laughing really loud. I finally yelled "SHUT UP!" they stopped and they woke me up at 5am yelling and laughing. I called for a nurse who told me it was " too awkward to deal with this because they are my colleagues" The next morning I was asked again to do the catheter. Before noon I was able to fill the urinal with 20oz and did so 4 more times that day. I'm fine and they never did determine the cause of the tremors. I've heard numerous bad experiences from others who went to St. Ann's and won't return.

Ten yes ago this was not the case and I feel strongly it was due to no insurance. I had written some serious complaints to the hospital so some things have changed since then. I was given IV pain meds. Taken for a cat scan and Lauren and Kofe were kind and total hands on. Thankyou to both of them. Drs Oryan and Brockman took the time to listen. They made me feel as if I mattered. I was admitted for an infection. During my stay the nurses treated me with such kindness. My main nurse was Heather in observation. She represented true professifor all nurses. I always try to be a good patient and to treat others as I'd want them to treat me. On this stay at Riverside I was treated with kindness, compassion and professionalism. Thankyou Riverside for possibly listening to critique and following thru.

As a patient I'm already stressed and I have several health issues and to be inconvenienced does not allow for me to be a "happy" patient. If I do everything in my power to be responsible and show up on time. I do have the right to expect quality service. To boot when I brought my husband for an ER visit and they kicked me out of the room when I'm his wife. They did not ask nicely! I'm stressed because I had to bring my husband in for heart issues it only takes a moment to be kind. So I scheduled my yearly mammo. I get a lovely text telling me the where and when etc. I arrive 15 minutes as requested. The text I received said to go to suite 230! So I go up there the offices are closed and there isn't anyone at a desk or anything. So I have to come back downstairs and ask where to go. I asked nicely but got some pushback.

He had been having pain for a week on and off and then it took a turn for the worse. He started vomiting. He felt slightly better so we went to the family doctor instead of straight to an ER. We got right in and everything seemed to be going well. They came and did an ultrasound. Then he was admitted. (Yes AFTER THEY DID THE ULTRASOUND) We waited for over 2hours for the results of the ultrasound even though we were told it wouldn't be more than an hour. With testicular torsion, every minute counts. We were told results from the ultrasound sound were negative. (Thankfully) They were going to send us home with a pain medication rx and a referral to a urologist if things don't clear up. I had to tell the dr that things aren't going to get better for him. They've only been getting worse this whole week. What else can we do? The Dr was a little frustrated with me and said well we can run some blood work and do a CT SCAN. If that doesn't work we can send him to the ER. We decided to go with that option. The tech was new and came to draw blood. Blood started squirting everywhere. They got it under control but I never want to see the inside of these walls again. It's nice and new, but that's where it's good side ends. We waited for well over two more hours for those results. Dr came in and said tests were inconclusive. No elevated white blood cells, no kidney stones, nothing. They could send us to the hospital ER, but no one would probably see us there tonight. So we took our referral and went home. This was late on a Friday. Monday morning rolls around. Call into urology and get in to see a nurse practitioner. She lets us know that there are cysts and his white blood cell count was elevated. She believes that the cysts are infected. The Dr at the ER had told us that they were not elevated. The NP showed us on his chart that not only were they elevated, but that they were highlighted yellow on the chart while we were at the ER! If I would've known what we know now, I would've skipped this place altogether. This is NOT an EMERGENCY ROOM. There's nothing urgent about this place, except that it should be shut down. This is a disgrace of a "medical facility". How Ohio Health lets it have their name attached is beyond me. They should be ashamed. This is a cash cow for them and you will be treated as such. We will avoid this place and every other free standing EMERGENCY room from now on. This place is a joke and unfortunately the joke was on us at the price of my son's health and our wallet.

I was informed they needed to do their own X-Ray, we're rude about it, insisted she only had a, "mild sprain," gave her a useless brace for a sprain. Treated her rudely, asking her why she was crying (not sobbing, just in pain). Telling her to, "quit limping," and she was fine, no restrictions, could participate in gym class & double header soccer tournament next day. Morons. I called pediatrician's office next morning, was told UC can see their X-Ray, did not need to do their own, only wanted more money, & I was to call COPC Sports Medicine right away. Doctor said she needed to be seen same day, fitted in walking boot for 6 weeks, due to a "grade 3 lateral ligament tear." Great job, Children's UC on not only being rude, but also not knowing what you're talking about. If it's not you're specialty, which it wasn't, it's okay to say, "I don't know, let me refer you to someone who does, an actual specialist." I will never go there again!

You kind of feel like you have your own tour guide. Waiting rooms were clean. They had reclining seats in some of them. The secretary at endoscopy was not at her station for five minutes and people who came in after me then got checked in before me Found that irritating. I highly recommend Alexander Hooper at OSU.

Doctor Creagh Boulger at OUS East treated my son with vigilance when my son came in bleeding dark red blood & in tremendous pain. He restored the Opioids for the pain which is rated worst than childbirth. Included was a Cat Scan to make sure his kidney wasn't totally blocked & treated my son with Autism with dignity. Garin from the Patient Response Team listened to my concerns & it seemed to me that he was going to try hard to get better treatment for my son. It is possible that he had an influence as instead of waiting until May 21 for Mike's treatment they removed it on May 12th. Doctor Matthew Lee was the kind Doctor who stepped up to the plate. The practice of waiting so long to treat something as painful as a stone is unconscionable. Mike suffered so much during this ordeal from his pain, his Autism and because he couldn't work his full time job. I don't understand what caused this whether it was the industry which causes people to often declare bankruptcy in order to obtain health care. We have the most expensive health by far than the rest of the Industrialized world such as Germany for example which provides Universal health care, out lives us & those who have job pay about 1/2 what wee pay here. Every time I myself suffered from kidney stones the Medical team would give the patient 4 to 5 days to pass it and it it wasn't passed in that time they would go in and remove it. Mike will avoid OSU if he is ever to get the stones again. And in most cases such as mine he will eventually have another attacks.
