Such a little thing but it was amazing how not being able to see compounded the situation. Dr. Larson some how managed to get the company to make a replacement pair of the very one of a kind hard contacts I wear in less than a week. I was recently reminded how amazing Dr. Larson's Patient Centered Care can be when I Jammed one of my contacts into the back of my eye at 4 am. After I worked my eye over for 5 hours I desperately went to her office looking for help. With no appointment she worked me in and with infinite patience and gentleness removed the contact after an hour. I have always found Dr. Larson to be a very knowledgeable, thoughtful, caring, Doctor who listens to her patients, but she also will go above and beyond to solve your problems and make you feel special.

I took my mom in who was vomiting and the lady said she has an outstanding balance of $55 and owes $45 for today so a total of $125 is due before she can be seen. What??? Ok, I'm no math wiz, but those two totals do not equal $125. She said they will refuse seeing her until she pays because they're privately owned. The heartlessness of this all!! Not to mention, she has insurance with a $0 co-pay. I love the medical staff in the back, but front desk needs to work on their people skills.

I should have done this years ago. ICON is a fine-tuned professional operation - instilling…read moreconfidence and competence - that maintains a warm and friendly environment. They were very patient-centric, making sure I understood every step of the process. The staff made all post-procedure care steps very clear, and provided paperwork that reiterated the info for later use. The facilities also represent the business, being clean and professional in appearance. Even the admin/reception staff was supportive and helped to alleviate anxiety through their conversation and personal experiences with LASIK. The procedure itself was incredibly short and absolutely painless. Anticlimactic, really. The team worked together in a manner that made it easy to just trust them and do my part of lying there. Doctor Fox explained everything as he worked, and maintained great communication throughout the procedure. I know the procedure is not appropriate for everyone, but I don't know why everyone who can do it doesn't get it done. We buy TVs that cost more than this, and shouldn't our vision come before 4K big screens? So, the results...I read many internet stories of outcomes, but here is mine: My procedure was in the afternoon, and then I went to my hotel for my required nap (had to bring a chauffeur for this part). My eyes felt irritated and photophobic, and fought me when I tried to keep them open, but weren't really painful. I still had no trouble navigating to my room. The drops eased this irritation completely, so sleeping was easy. I woke up four hours later to somewhat foggy vision; I had dinner in bed, and went back to sleep for six hours. When I awoke, I had no pain or irritation, and could see very clearly. It was practically instant. I felt amazed just looking out the window at the sunrise. My follow up that morning - which I drove to - showed my vision was not only corrected, but was better than average. I drove the 2 hours home with no pain or irritation, enjoying the clearest scenery I've observed since I was young. A great experience and I could not be happier.

I give Doctor Holt 5-STARS since he is extremely kind and qualified. However, ICON appointment…read morescheduling is pretty awful for both the patient and doctor, so I give them 1-STAR. I have been a regular patient at ICON for about 4 years and it is not uncommon to find patients being over-booked or even double-booked for the exact same appointment times. This results in SUPER long wait times-as in waiting over 2 hours before even seeing the doctor. Doctor Holt seamlessly blends deep clinical expertise with high emotional intelligence. He communicates well, listens intently, and treats the whole patient with kindness and respect. And I believe he actually loves his job! However, witnessing the breakneck speed at which he must move between his patients is painful. Burnout in physicians is real. I hate to think that one day Doctor Holt may find himself both physically and emotionally exhausted because the thing he loved, the thing he was SO good at, no longer holds meaning. It is my impression that Dr. Holt is an 'on-staff' employee of ICON Eyecare-a corporation that obviously views their patients as 'time-slots' and 'revenue' AND their physicians as 'workhorses'. If this is the case, it screams profit over people which is both wasteful and stupid. The demand for good eye care is obviously high in Grand Junction, so given the backlog of patients why doesn't ICON Eyecare hire another doctor to assist Dr. Holt with his workload?

I have peace of mind knowing that I will be getting blood work done before each insert to make sure my dose is correct and that all of my labs look good before proceeding. I feel that I am taken care of by this team. Dr Howe is very easy to talk to and has true concern for her patients. Because I wanted to keep my current (expensive, beloved) frames, they actually measured my lenses and gave me back my glasses immediately so that I could have them while I wanted the couple of weeks for my new lenses to arrive. That was awesome! I do have contacts that I could have used in the meantime, but I prefer to use my glasses for my computer oriented job. No pressure to buy anything from them. Short wait times. They have iPads that you can check in on and use Apple iMacs for everything, which I was surprised and impressed by. Definitely would recommend coming here for eye exams, etc. Oh, and they have Oakley, Wiley, Ray-Ban and some other name brand stuff, which is more than I can say for my old eye doctor's office. It isn't an enormous selection of fantastic high end frames (like Europtics in Denver), but I was still surprised and pleased to see a decent collection of name brand stuff on the shelves. I also like that they simply texted me when my lenses had arrived and told me the hours I could come in and get them put into my frames. They also explained and handled billing the visit to my insurance and answered questions about that, which is nice. The only weird thing is their phone system. It goes into some strange pre-recorded thing that doesn't at all sound like it's for customers, but if you wait long enough, a pleasant person at the front desk of the store will answer.
