I had a wonderful experience with this company. They were very quick to respond to me, I was able to get 2 samples tested within 5 hours (same day). I had a pipe break in my home and the plumbers refused to cut into the wall until I got an Asbestos test done. I was panicking trying to find somewhere to help me within the same day since I had no running water in my home for 3 days. I called a few different places, but none offered walk-in testing with same day turn-around. Many of the "Asbestos Testing" companies want to come to your home and charge you $500-$600 to remove a piece of wall and get it tested within 3 days, the markup on this is ridiculous. So going straight to the lab and cutting out the middleman was the best option, with even faster service. I had used this company before, about 14 years ago, and was very pleased and happy with their prompt turn-around and prices. So, I needed to have some samples tested for asbestos, and used their services. I sent the samples in this past Friday, they received the samples earlier today (Monday), processed the samples and, about four hours later, I received my results! Once, again, their service was prompt, results were clear, and excellent prices! So much easier to use them because you can send in the samples yourself--just be sure to closely follow their instructions on how to obtain samples which are clear and easy to follow--instead of paying a LOT extra to have someone else come to your home and collect the samples, which would be done in the same manner as their instructions explain how to do it. Wow- I'm impressed! We own a historic 1920's home that has had numerous updates over the years. The lath and plaster walls are in rough shape and need to be replaced. At the time when we purchased the home, the realtor was honest and told us it was possible that the plaster could contain asbestos. We are now ready to begin work on the walls, so we wanted to know whether or not asbestos remediation was going to be necessary. I originally thought we would have to hire a professional to come in and do an inspection for asbestos. I'm so glad I used these guys. I live in a 1920's building and was desperate to remove decades of linoleum in the kitchen and replace the flooring. Love this company. I had sampled the plaster and dust surrounded my HVAC vents (we have 5 year old HVAC system but house built in 1960s). The results all came back negative for asbestos. Thank God! This company is so friendly to work with and they provide quick results. I dropped off my samples Sunday night and I received the results next day. I prefer this over buying a $9 test kit at Home Depot that would require an additional $40 per sample to get lab to process and then the dreadful wait of many more weeks for the results. We were remodeling an old house and started breaking down walls. Half of our contractors told us that the old drywall & plaster walls definitely contained asbestos; the other half assured us that they didn't. Each of them had a method to prove their conclusion: you can see the fibers, the plaster crumbles in your hand, the paper doesn't burn, etc. We weren't sure what we were dealing with and thought it'd be wise to have it tested. We knew that if the tests came back negative (no asbestos), that we'd feel more comfortable and that would be money well spent. If the tests came back positive (asbestos found), we'd know not to mess with it and it's money well spent. Here's where this company blew me away. I dropped off my sample at 11 AM. Just used Western Analytical Laboratory to test a sample I sent in via FedEx Ground. We followed directions for sending in the sample that were posted on their website, and received results in a timely manner. Western is great to use if you are going to start a home project. We sent a sample of some old attic insulation to Western Analytical to test for asbestos. Their web site provides simple, clear instructions for sampling, where to send, etc. The turnaround time, from sample receipt to analysis to emailed report, was extremely fast (a day or two if I recall correctly?). The Lab Director, Mike, was very helpful in answering my follow up questions, and the cost for the analysis was very reasonable, especially for the peace of mind we got in return. This place is legitimate and awesome. I was skeptical that such a place could exist with such low prices for testing but it does! The company is NVLAP accredited which is the most important part to affirm its legitimacy. I was also skeptical because I felt that most people who reviewed the company got results back that their samples did NOT contain asbestos. I actually received results saying that my sample DID container asbestos. Not sure if that will mean anything to anyone, but it would have cleared up some doubt for me! Purchased a home that had popcorn ceiling and wanted to remove it but was concerned if it had asbestos in it. We considered having an abatement company come test it but it would have cost us $400 and would have to wait a few days for the results. I found this company searching online for a lab that would test asbestos for residential homeowners. They even have a process laid out on their website with directions on how to collect, package, and ship samples to them. I mailed my two little samples in a normal envelope on Monday (from Minnesota), and I got the results Thursday night. It worked flawlessly. Confirmed what I suspected, but knowing is half the battle (or something like that).
