Scheduled an asbestos test prior to doing a bathroom remodel on my house and the majority of the cost is them showing up which is non refundable. They waited until they got here to inform us that in order to test bathroom tiles for asbestos they have to remove a large piece and it makes the bathroom unusable which was not an option for us since we don't have the remodel scheduled yet for the bathroom. Since they had already shown up they charged us the $425 fee regardless and when the technician called his manager to ask if they could charge a reduced fee since no one explained to us over the phone how it worked, they refused. The Technician was very nice and informative, and he did nothing wrong in this scenario, but the business model as a whole seems like a scam to get someone out there to collect a nonrefundable fee, while offering zero information up front about how the process works. read more

I am not going to use the company service. They took 15 samples and charged 10 dollars more for each one. In the beginning, they told me 6pcs enough. The testing guy broke 2 big holes on drywall. The drywall were from Home Depot, and not sure why they wanted to test it . read more

I had bad experience with mold testing companies in the past, so this time when I needed mold and asbestos testings done, I made sure I select the company carefully. I decided to hire VM3 after talking to Drue because he was very professional and knowledgeable over the phone. He's super responsive whenever I emailed him and was able to get me appointments quickly. Amongst the 5-6 companies I talked to, Drue was the only one to tell me air purifiers need to be turned off 24 hours before mold testing. All 3 technicians I was assigned did very detail and thorough inspections, provided genuine recommendations and opinions, and never once try to up-sell me into paying for more testing samples. Anthony: he's super Knowledgeable with regards to mold because that's what he studied in college. (Sorry, I forgot the name his major...). I had 1000000 questions for him and he answered them all very patiently. He seemed very passionate about his job and I felt that he actually cared about the potential mold issue at my place. Jonathan: my asbestos technician. Same experience as with Anthony, Jonathan was patient in answering all my questions and very professional. Rigo: he said he's been in the business for 10+ years (or 20+? My memory is failing on me...). Very calm demeanor and definitely very knowledgeable gentleman. I'm addition to the ones mentioned above, I also spoke with Nike twice when I called the office with questions. Nick sounded very friendly and energetic both times, he also helped me get my answers in a timely manner. VM3 is definitely the company to go to when you need this kind of jobs done. **EDIT** After I posted this review, Andy reached out to me to follow up and make sure I was satisfied with the service. Andy was very nice and knowledgable and offered to come back and do more testing to confirm that there is no damage and nothing to be concerned about, at no added cost. They get points for good customer service and integrity - these guys want to make sure their work is good and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied with their services. I appreciate it! I will amend this review further based on future work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wish I could write a better review, because everyone at the company was very nice. However, I cannot recommend their services. They came out and were very friendly and answered all of our questions. We were mostly concerned about one bathroom in the house that was giving off a mold smell and had them check it out. They charge per test, so the visiting charge quickly ballooned to over $600 as they conducted 3 tests - one in the bathroom, one under the bathroom in the crawlspace, and one outdoors as a control. We were told there was nothing wrong and not to worry about it - that the air sample came back with no mold (or no significant amount, anyway). We were told the wax seal on the toilet was broken, and if we were worried about the shower growing mold we should get a grout specialist to come in and repair/clean it. Well, we brought in a plumber and a grout specialist - plumber said wax seal was fine, grout specialist said there was black mold growing on the grout and he couldn't clean it - that we needed to call in mold remediation services, not based on any fancy $300+ tests but based on just his eyes. We now have to call in a second and maybe a third opinion. read more

If you need to inspect your home for mold or suspect any mold issues, I highly recommend you use VM3. I noticed some black looking mold in our wet bar cabinet in our living room and called a few mold inspection companies. VM3 was very responsive and were able to accommodate the earliest visit. Daniel came by and did a thorough home-wide inspection and gave me recommendations on air samples that should be taken to confirm if there was toxic mold. Each air sample is pretty pricey and costs $129 per sample so I opted to only do the areas that were of immediate concern. Daniel was understanding and respective of this and didn't try to pressure me to air sample test all the areas. He then got back to me right away with the results and followed up via text and phone call. He even had good recommendations on mold remediation companies. VM3 is extremely professional and reliable with a scheduled appointment. Not to mention extremely affordable -- and without sacrificing quality. Most other places charge upwards of $500 for a full apartment inspection, but VM3 charges $275. So great deal! Inspector Daniel spent a lot of time at my appointment sweeping every knick and corner to address my health concerns. The full inspector 30-page report paired each part of the apartment with Inspector Daniel's written assessment/expertise with accompanying picture. Very easy to understand. But for those who need further clarification there's a corresponding color legend with a brief description, so you can make sense of the inspector's analysis without necessarily understanding the equipment he uses. After a family member was found to have mold in their system, we were advised to have our house tested. We didn't actually expect to find any issues as we hadn't personally observed any. My goodness, was I enlightened! Apparently mold, like termites, is extremely common in our high humidity area near the ocean. The inspection was done by Daniel, who methodically checked out our home, pulling out drawers to observe behind them, peering into the backs of closets, carefully examining floor boards, sink cabinets and fixtures, the sheetrock and beams in the attic, etc. Daniel also did an exceptional job explaining his findings to me. Back in 2019 I had mold and needed a professional mold specialist to detect problem areas. I had VM3 come out and overall they did a great job. I believe Daniel was my technician. He looked for wet areas with special sensors on the walls and run spot mold test or air sensing test. Daniel answered my questions and took a follow up call which I really appreciated. We then hired a mold remediation company and addresses the problem areas per VM3's report. I'm taking one star off because there is an area they didn't check on and there was a lot of mold. That area was under a laminate floors in both the living room and bedroom. When we pulled up the floors during remodeling the smell was overwhelming. However we had already had the mold company out so we had to just use bleach and clean it up ourselves. I wish I had known. Perhaps flooring isn't part of their scope of work. read more

Wonderful service! I needed to have a mold inspection done on my old place because I was having severe allergic reactions after my upstairs neighbors bathtub flooded my ceiling. I found VM3 on Yelp of course, and called them right away. They gave me a great quote for an initial inspection which was just over $300 aaaaand each additional lab test was $150. I could choose if I wanted air quality test, swabs of any damp areas, etc. It's so nice to do ot that way because you can bundle the lab tests as you please, unlike other places that gouge you for a bunch of stuff and you have no idea what's going on. The inspector came on time, and was VERY thorough! I got a 50 page report which proved that indeed there was mold present, where it was, what strains, and their levels of toxicity! I was able to present this evidence to my lawyer and I am VERY HAPPY! I all for under a 1k price! If you've ever shopped around for this type of service, you know that's a hell of a deal... and they were really nice and professional to boot! I HIGHLY recommend this company! read more

This review is about 6 years too late! When I bought my 100 year old house back in 2016, I hired VM3 to test for asbestos in octopus gravity heater vents, popcorn ceilings and linoleum flooring. The results came back positive for the heater vents. I went ahead with VM3 to remediate the asbestos from the gravity heater vents which wasn't an easy job because the vents went throughout the house. The process went very smoothly and I couldn't be happier with their work. Their report was also very detailed and thorough. After the work was completed, I was provided with a completion certificate.
