In all my years of flying, I don't think I've ever experienced that before! The airport itself was clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. My only complaint is that there really aren't many restaurant or food options. If you're flying out of this airport, don't come hungry! Overall, though, the incredibly quick check-in and TSA experience definitely made for a stress-free start to our trip.

It has frequently been renovated and always was nice but right now it is difficult to tell what's happening because there is so much construction going on all at once. This is resulted in crowding at the gates and into major inconveniences like the only bathrooms being at gate12 so if you're at gate one or two it's quite a walk to get there. Today's adventure started early in the morning because I had a flight at 8 AM so we arrived around six. I had a rental car and absolutely no idea how to get to the place to drop it off. The signage is poor at best after a few misfires, I finally found it and then begins my morning exercise. It is far from the rental cars to the terminal so the walk is quite formidable. They do have moving sidewalks which helps, but it just seems like an inefficient system for an airport of this size. The efficiency of the airport is excellent. One of the best TSA I've ever dealt with. Quick efficient and friendly. I use CLEAR plus and it literally took seconds to get through. But with an early flight, it would be nice to have some breakfast and the choices are dismal. There's a Dunkin' Donuts with a line that pretty much includes everybody waiting for a flight. There are two restaurants which are empty and there's no doubt in my mind that that is because of high prices unlimited food choices. Two eggs $24, chicken and waffles. $24. They're stuck on that steep number for not much of a breakfast. Would love some breakfast choices. We will see when the construction is over. All in all the efficiency of the airport, both at arrival and departure is excellent. That is why despite the problems while construction is going on and the long haul to get the rental car and return it it is still a four star experience. With a couple of tweaks, it could be five stars.

FBO didn't seem to be always manned due to their other operations; they officially close at 4 local. If using 34, the turnoff for parking comes quickly, so expect you'll have to turn around on the runway; make sure you make the appropriate radio call!

It's mostly for rich people that want to fly directly into Connecticut without dealing with the Bostons and the New Yorks and the New Jerseys of the world. The car rental agency here got me what I needed but there were issues. I would give this cute little airport a four star, especially as everybody left me alone to do with my business which I appreciated.

Most recently, my husband and I flew with Delta Airlines from Pittsburgh to Boston and then from Boston to London. Our flight from Pittsburgh landed in terminal A, and our flight to London departed from terminal E. We had to take an elevator down to a waiting area to catch a shuttle bus. There, a friendly employee explained the shuttle's estimated arrival time of several minutes and offered water. Before our connecting flight, we spent hours killing time in the airport. We browsed the stores and the vending machines but did not buy anything. We did buy lunch at an Italian restaurant, which I reviewed separately.

Even in the sim, the coastline hits you with that New England melancholy that makes you wonder why you don't live your whole life near the ocean. Touchdown was smooth enough that, for a second, we all forgot we were sitting in living rooms with snacks instead of oil-stained airfields with stories. But honestly? The atmosphere pulled us in anyway. Block Island Airport doesn't need to try. It just exists in that charming, scruffy way small airports do--real or virtual. And then there was the diner. In real life, Bethany's Airport Diner--now renamed Ellen's--still holds the same soul. Different name, same vibe. And the food? Exactly the kind of no-nonsense comfort you hope for when you wander into an island airport hungry and sunburned. Eggs, toast, coffee that wakes you up without asking permission... the kind of meal that tastes honest. Even in the sim, we joked about stopping in like we could actually smell the griddle. That's how you know a place is good: when it sticks with you in worlds where it technically doesn't exist. The beach is right across the street from the field though (walkable and the friendly people working here might even be able to give you a lift). No instrument approaches or fuel and the strip is on the shorter side (2500ft or so) so triple checking your landing distances on hot days. Hard to beat the beauty of a beach across the street though so it's worth a visit!
