You come to Magazine street hoping to stop in these antique shops, and this is one of them. I think…read moreI had been here previously, and enjoyed my experience. But this time around, it was just a bunch of poorly curated junk. The way things were displayed was poor, just unorganized, requiring you to dig around. It feels overwhelming going in here. Previously, I felt like I was on a treasure hunt, but this time around, I was feeling anxiety going through all the stuff. They do have old typewriters and old phones though, at decent price (around $115-175 for typewriters, and $25 for the old phones). I thought those were the coolest items. But honestly, they didn't even have the cute charm I was hoping for. Some of the typewriters did have handles, which was great if you wanted to carry it on your flight back home. But, you couldn't take the lid off...just a bummer. Will forever continue to search for the vintage typewriter and phone.

The good is that there's something for everyone here. It's a very large store with a ton of items…read more I was disappointed with the art selection. There was such a small amount of paintings. The few that were in there were pretty expensive. But because I'm good at digging around, I did manage to find two matching pieces in a couple of stacks on the floor that were inexpensive. Such a small win in such a big store though. It's still a cool place to hang around in for a couple hours.

This past year I've had a thing for purchasing copper jewelry- most bracelets from South Korea, Mexico City, Tijuana and Mt. Charleston. Wondered if anyone ever made copper necklaces. I saw a few vendors that had thick linked chains. I bought the medium $45 length- tax is high in New Orleans. Far cry from dainty but copper is supposed to be good for arthritis and health. Ok let's see.

Congested with wandering tourists, most of the vendors sell items that could be found at any flea market in the country. A lot of the souvenirs and clothing fell way short in reflecting authentic New Orleans craftsmanship. I was hoping for a market more along the lines of Barcelona's La Boqueria with bounties of fresh produce and appetizing edibles, but there was just a row of fast food kiosks beyond the beignets at Cafe du Monde. Without a doubt, the highlight of the market was the strolling groups of musicians randomly playing jazz to enraptured tourists. RELATED - Exploring New Orleans? I came on Wednesday, which is game night! So. Much. Fun!!! It starts at 7pm, and it's not like your typical trivia. You have to come to understand. The food is so good. I ordered the jerk chicken plate from Johnny's and it was fresh and authentic Jamaican food. You won't be disappointed. I've always thought New Orleans needed more food trucks, and this is a thought. There is a small parking lot in front of the food truck lot, and you can also find parking on the street. Added plus, bottomless mimosas for $13+ tax on Sundays!

Came with rice, plantains and greens. The chicken was on the bone and there were lots of little pieces to pick through. I didn't mind but some may. I came because a friend told me about the snowball truck that has dairy free condensed milk! She mistakenly told me he had a nectar flavor so I had my heart set on that. I ended up with an ice cream flavor with dairy free condensed milk. The condensed milk was delicious! The syrup wasn't as sweet and flavorful as I like my snowballs to be. I would definitely go back to try a different flavor. He makes all of his syrups with natural ingredients and said he may try to figure out a nectar flavor. My biggest complaint and the reason for the less than stellar review was the garbage smell that permeated the area. I tried relocating to three different tables to escape it. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. My best guess is a hidden dumpster somewhere. It was awful and hard for me to enjoy my food when there was a smell of garbage. Lots of space to sit, bathrooms and a bar area for drinks. There was also a live band playing music. It was a nice touch.
