Going up the lift of the snow tube
    Lonniece M.

Had a ball snow tubing and snowboarding. 10/10 recommend. Nice activity to do with family and friends. Very kid friendly !!

Day 3 2/19/25 of our trip to the wonderful West Mountain in the beautiful Adirondacks of upstate NY. We tested our skills on the Face prior to our 2nd day of lessons so that we were loose and ready to go. The mountain was in pristine condition with plenty of snow and well groomed trails. As usual, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My son Joseph (16) felt confident that we were ready for our noon lessons and looking forward to elevating our skills with the instructors. I was with Gracie who was absolutely fantastic and helped me with my weight transfers and pole utilization on turns. We even hit a diamond trail, and i liked her so much I will be taking another lesson on day 4. Joseph's instructor improved his boarding skills with a couple of pointers literally by a factor of 5- and he now crushes blues with the utmost in confidence. Joe will be getting another lesson today as well. After a vigorous 3 hours we went into the fabulous lodge for delicious Clam Chowder and Pizza slices- just what we needed for our afternoon adventures. After another 3 hours of carving we returned to a blazing fire, and happy skiers and boarders chowing and drinking in a magical apres' ski environment. Lastly, we went back to our hotel to clean up, and came back to the restaurant for an amazing dinner that was a 10++++. Live music set the mood, and a terrific view of the well lit slopes for us to watch. I had The Cure Burger and Joseph had the Brandt Pasta. Two clean plates and two happy guests at West Mountain. Restaurant staff was beyond friendly and professional, and the prices were very fair and portions immense! We will return tonight!. Another grand slam day at West Mountain!!! Day 2/20/25- I will keep this brief. Snow was absolutely Olympic grade quality, as were the trails. My son and I have advanced to blues and blacks, and are having the time of our lives at West Mountain. Laurie at the rental center has been a Godsend, as has the Manager Adam who answers all of questions with a smile on his face. If you love to ski/board or want to learn, get here!

Stayed in Moreau in a lovely cabin but had to come tubbing. This was soo much fun and the speed is alot faster than i could ever imagine. 2 hours for aprox $42 per person (2022).. on the 24th of December

This was taken after I was denied entry as you can see in the top left.

Don't waste your money or time. Visiting from out of town, Worst experience! Tried to buy tickets at home but unfortunately the website was not mobile friendly, but online it says availability and we called but it was automated voice only. Drove 45 mins to stand in line for 45 mins, with no signs of availability and one person working a register for 18 people in front of me(I counted). Getting up to the window they said there was no availability until 4 hours later. My response but, "online it says available," register lady, "sorry." Absolutely the worst feeling that you wasted you all that time and to disappoint your family the day after Christmas... Trash Business ethic, thanks for putting me in a terrible position much appreciated.

Had a ton of fun coming here on a Sunday early afternoon. Came here for the chair lift up the mountain, a small hike, and to do the aerial treetop adventure park! Would highly recommend coming here especially to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. It seems like quite a few locals come here to go mountain biking so if you're into that, it would be a great location!

This is my local mountain and it does have lots to offer. West had certainly fallen into incapable hands for a number of recent years, but the last 2 years or so, new ownership has diligently worked to upgrade and modernize the place. It's a work in progress, but the reforms made thus far have noticeably improved my experiences here. I'm looking forward to additional improvements in the coming years as well! They have a new padded quad lift that takes everyone to the summit and they also majorly upgraded their tubing experience for the kiddos. Additionally, they've installed a brand new magic carpet (it's like a chair lift that you just stand on that takes you up the bunny hill) and word is they'll be installing another new padded quad lift for the NW side of the mountain in the summer of 2018 (which is desperately, desperately needed). Lots and lots and lots of new snowmaking equipment has been purchased and utilized, so that's a real plus as well. I also know they've done a lot to try and improve their learning to ride/ski programs with really training their instructors if you're looking to learn or get your kids on the slopes. The lodge is just ok; certainly kinda rustic as it's just a concrete floor and not carpeted. Prices at concession aren't too bad, definitely cheaper than bigger resorts like Gore and Whiteface. Typical offerings available here, though they also have a bar/grill with some tasty items like wings, nachos, good sized burgas, and a handful of local crafty beers from jurnts like Common Roots Brewing Co., Cooperstown Brewing, etc. (good stuff)! Bathrooms have been updated and are good sized and pretty nice. Plenty of blue and green rated trails for skiing/riding but not much for black diamond runs; if you're an expert and really want to be challenged, West isn't for you. A lot of ski races are held here as the owners have kids that race and they've sunk a ton of time and effort into promoting that aspect of the sport. Be aware they do have night skiing/riding every day of the week except Sunday and the resort can simply be mobbed at night as tons of ski clubs show up starting around 3 pm...tons of school buses in the parking lot each night. The last night I went, I also counted 3 Wade Tours buses in the parking lot that had dumped a ton of people on the mountain. If you're looking to avoid crowds, definitely hit the place up during weekday days, though they don't open till 3 pm on Monday and Tuesday. One gripe, the last time I went they had opened up the NW side of the mountain and they really shouldn't have. The chairlift that side has got to be 35 to 40 plus years old and I got stuck on the lift for a solid 15 minutes (just sitting up there in the air...good thing heights don't scare me). This sucks since your lift ticket is usually timed (like a 4 hour ticket)...wasted 15 minutes just sitting in the air...the chair had broken down! Anyways, finally I get off the lift and all the runs on that side were super packed iced, not packed powder. Trails were just terrible over there on that side. I fell once on the ice and it really, really, really hurt (concrete!!!) They're better off just leaving the NW side of the mountain closed off until they can really give it upgrades and a ton more snowmaking/grooming attention. This resort also has a tuning shop and a small gear/pro shop that you can buy some gear thingers you might need, though it's not a huge shop like at Killington etc. Mostly, I'd only go to this shop if you lost or forgot something you really needed. One thing I'd LOOOOOOOVE to see them do here that would really make me happy is simply put some benches out near the end of each chairlift so snowboarders like myself don't have to sit on our butts in the cold snow time and time and time and time and time and time again to buckle up our bindings. Places like Gore Mountain have benches out on both the right and left hand side of exiting each chairlift and its awesome!!!! Oh sorry, one other gripe, lol...lift personnel need to maintain the runways at the end of chairlifts where one departs the chair...they get super rutted and even hilly and unsafe because literally no maintenance seems to be done from before the first run of the day all way till the end of the night! Last time out I never once, yes, not once the entire day, ever saw anyone working on chairlift runways. I'll update this review again later in the season as I revisit again and again.

This review comes with a significant caveat: we are NOT skiers. I am much more of a faller. This family visit was for tubing only. Our first visit to West Mountain was really a mixed bag. There seems to be a lot of potential there, but they have a ways to go, particularly in terms of personnel and customer service. The good: The tubing area itself is small, but nice. There are 6 short runs and four longer runs. There are no tandem or family tubes, but you can tether single tubes together to form a "train" on the short runs. The exit areas at the ends of the runs are wide, open and easy to safely transverse before the next tubers come barreling down at you. The "magic carpet" lift is also very convenient and easy to use. My four year old was a bit nervous about both the lift and the runs at first, but quickly fell in love with the entire experience. When we first arrived at just after 10, the lines moved quickly and there was little to no wait for any of the runs. There's also a really nice little fire pit area with Adirondack chairs right outside the lodge where you can relax and warm up. It's almost custom made for selfies. The bad: As the day went on, the tubing area got ridiculously crowded. They warn you on the website that they can restrict ticket sales if there are too many tubers. With that warning out there, they should absolutely enforce it. By noon, the lines were ridiculous. We ended up waiting in line at the top runs for over 20 minutes for our final ride; quite a time commitment on a two-hour lift ticket. Some children were running amok with absolutely no adult supervision. Some were brazenly cutting the lift line right in front of staff with no consequences. The lodge itself is also bad. The food is REALLY bad, the facilities are bad, and the bathrooms are frat-house levels of disgusting. Parking is also a mess. All the marked-off driving lanes are wide enough for one car, but there is no indication of direction of travel, and I saw a number of cars meeting in the middle of an aisle, requiring one of them to back all the way down to an intersection. Someone injured herself badly enough while we there that an ambulance was required, and it took the EMTs considerable time and effort to navigate to the lodge to begin treatment. It was so crowded that by the time we left that people were just parking on Route 58. The dangerously irresponsible: Remember the children running amok? There was one particular child who was particularly out of control. There is a small walkway, then a turn on a slight hill walking to the short runs after exiting the lift. This boy jumped into his tube at the top of the walkway, slid down the hill, flattened my four year old, crashed through the retention barrier and luckily settled on to the far left lane as he went down the rest of the way, his parents nowhere in sight. This happened directly in front of the bearded young man monitoring this area. I asked him what he was going to do and he said, "can't do anything now, man. He's gone." Apparently management never trained staff how to use the radios they carry, or the common sense to realize that with only one way up the hill, it'd be pretty easy to stop him. At the bottom of the hill, I relayed the story to the supervisor who was checking lift ticket times. The response was, "Wow, that sucks. What time does your pass say?" Really? I've heard that this place has come under new management over the past few years and they've pumped a lot of money back into the facility in an effort to rehabilitate a ski center that had really fallen into disrepair. I applaud their efforts and wish them well, but as long as the slopes are the Wild West, I won't be bringing my family back. I'd rather drive a little further and pay a little more for the better quality, customer service, and most importantly, safety of the larger centers slightly north.

Always hit or miss late December. The warm days made for a pretty average outing. But, for the number of people on the slopes (especially kids), they should have had more runs open. Check first before you go. What was open "to the public" and what was posted on the website where contradictory. Their lift prices and rentals were also overpriced. Next time we'll probably try a different place. Pretty average operation.

West Mountain is one of the best places to ski in the entire world. They have such good trails, even though their ski lift is so slow.

This time it's still just a 3 star review . Everyone and all the staff were very friendly and attentive ..... the free breakfast is adequate but still no gluten free items , they do have Almond milk ! I'm not sure how they are getting 4 and 5 star reviews as the hotel is just not being kept up . Maybe they are short staffed ? The carpets by the elevators and in the rooms are stained and it makes the whole room feel a bit dingy! I would think this is a quick fix and something they would keep on top of ! Although it's basically clean and neat , things like the linens are old and the towels aren't fresh smelling . Their laundry room for their linens is across the hall from the kitchen, so the towels although clean and fluffy kinda smell like breakfast ! Yes we keep coming back because the plus side is it's a very convenient locate . The rates are good and it's just 15-20 mins from Lake George and Saratoga Springs . Staying a few days here is do- able . I do hope they take note and maybe add some freshener to the towels , get some new linens and clean the carpets .. it would make a huge difference!

They worked their tails off...but we had to get up and help with tables...they were under staffed. (Not their fault...obviously they do not do the hiring) Now the boo's.....the non-profit goes out of their way to make this a beautiful event for everyone in attendance and work hard all year planning this fundraiser to make money to help our local community struggling with a cancer battle. The Non-Profit Organization is a group of kind, caring and truly loving people. This is their number one fundraiser all year.....and the people they help in our community benefit from all their hard work. The decorations, details and thoughtfulness they pour into this yearly event is so evident to see. Sadly The Tower did not put the same details into their end of the facility. The food was absolutely horrid and we left starving hungry! Honestly it was cold, mushy and not fully cooked. It was all pulled from freezer food and truthfully it was the worse meal I have ever had. I happened to notice that we over-exceeded the room accommodations...the sign clearly stated one number and we were a larger group....when later asking after the event I learned the tower told the organization it could easily fit their group. Frankly we were crowded and its a wonderful thing the room was full of love for our community for else we may have been even more uncomfortable. The cleanliness of the room leaves a lot to be desired.....a cleaning crew could spend hours there! All that aside.....you attend a Dinner to eat.....the food was so nasty you could not eat! If you are looking into this space for event....I highly recommend a caterer. The food is not fit to feed humans! The Salmon was disgusting and smelled horrid. The chicken cordon bleu literally was a frozen piece thawed (half way may I add) and tasted awful..it was half frozen.....no white sauce to top it off either. The veggies.....who can go wrong with mixed veggies frozen and warmed? Somehow they did.....they were mushy and full of pepper or some funky seasoning! The bar was good....although the prices were a bit expensive. So it turned into a liquid dinner as the food was not edible. I have had the pleasure to eat all over the Glens Falls Area.....I can't recommend the tower to anyone.....for anything other then the view of the city skyline. They need some serious changes, new management and a decent chef. The non-profit organization is the only reason why we enjoyed the evening,.....they went above and beyond to make up for all the flaws....however I would not attend again if it was at The Tower.

The chefs, servers and staff all go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. Drinks are constantly refilled, which I always appreciate, and I noticed them offer to bring an omelet to one party's table, so certainly they do everything they can to provide top-notch service. We tried a little bit of everything, and only found one dish wanting, as the mac and cheese was a little dry. Everything else we sampled, from the soup and salad to the ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and desserts, was absolutely outstanding. For the price (about $25 per person including tax), you could have a much less enjoyable meal at many restaurants in the area, but The Tower offers excellent dishes in a buffet setting, with spectacular views of Glens Falls, Queensbury, and the foothills of the Adirondacks. Add in friendly and attentive service and you can't go wrong trying the Sunday brunch at The Tower.
