I attended a local non-profit event at the Tower. First the positives: The view is wonderful. The waitresses and bar staff tried so hard to keep up with the 200 plus people at the event. They worked their tails off...but we had to get up and help with tables...they were under staffed. (Not their fault...obviously they do not do the hiring) Now the boo's.....the non-profit goes out of their way to make this a beautiful event for everyone in attendance and work hard all year planning this fundraiser to make money to help our local community struggling with a cancer battle. The Non-Profit Organization is a group of kind, caring and truly loving people. This is their number one fundraiser all year.....and the people they help in our community benefit from all their hard work. The decorations, details and thoughtfulness they pour into this yearly event is so evident to see. Sadly The Tower did not put the same details into their end of the facility. The food was absolutely horrid and we left starving hungry! Honestly it was cold, mushy and not fully cooked. It was all pulled from freezer food and truthfully it was the worse meal I have ever had. I happened to notice that we over-exceeded the room accommodations...the sign clearly stated one number and we were a larger group....when later asking after the event I learned the tower told the organization it could easily fit their group. Frankly we were crowded and its a wonderful thing the room was full of love for our community for else we may have been even more uncomfortable. The cleanliness of the room leaves a lot to be desired.....a cleaning crew could spend hours there! All that aside.....you attend a Dinner to eat.....the food was so nasty you could not eat! If you are looking into this space for event....I highly recommend a caterer. The food is not fit to feed humans! The Salmon was disgusting and smelled horrid. The chicken cordon bleu literally was a frozen piece thawed (half way may I add) and tasted awful..it was half frozen.....no white sauce to top it off either. The veggies.....who can go wrong with mixed veggies frozen and warmed? Somehow they did.....they were mushy and full of pepper or some funky seasoning! The bar was good....although the prices were a bit expensive. So it turned into a liquid dinner as the food was not edible. I have had the pleasure to eat all over the Glens Falls Area.....I can't recommend the tower to anyone.....for anything other then the view of the city skyline. They need some serious changes, new management and a decent chef. The non-profit organization is the only reason why we enjoyed the evening,.....they went above and beyond to make up for all the flaws....however I would not attend again if it was at The Tower. read more

My wife and I made our first visit to The Tower Event Center today, and loved it. Situated on the 9th floor of the Travelers Building (the tallest building in town, so there's no better view to be found), we enjoyed a hot, fresh buffet offering everything from soup (homemade clam chowder was amazing) and salad (fix your own with unusual items like fresh mozzerella available) to custom omelets, a carving station with ham and turkey, homemade mac and cheese, and an incredible array of desserts including cakes, brownies, cheesecakes, and much more. The chefs, servers and staff all go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. Drinks are constantly refilled, which I always appreciate, and I noticed them offer to bring an omelet to one party's table, so certainly they do everything they can to provide top-notch service. We tried a little bit of everything, and only found one dish wanting, as the mac and cheese was a little dry. Everything else we sampled, from the soup and salad to the ham, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and desserts, was absolutely outstanding. For the price (about $25 per person including tax), you could have a much less enjoyable meal at many restaurants in the area, but The Tower offers excellent dishes in a buffet setting, with spectacular views of Glens Falls, Queensbury, and the foothills of the Adirondacks. Going to the Tower Restaurant for brunch was a mistake. We were expecting an upscale brunch buffet and got the something closer to the continental breakfast at the Best Western. Pros: The view was nice and the service was alright. Cons: The ambience was generic. The food was poor, e.g. the eggs benedict was dead, the bacon tasted old, bland chicken breast. and nursing home mashed potatoes. read more

I just went to their Sunday Brunch with my husband today for the first time. Top 9th floor and view is amazing!! All servers and chef are very friendly and very kind! They make you fresh omelets and fresh pasta per your request right in front of you. Food is delicious and we had a wonderful time! I highly recommended this place! :) read more

Our charitable organization chose this venue due to its seating capacity and the attractiveness of its room 9 floors up above the city, for our charity's annual valentine's dinner. It was our sixth annual event for our largest fundraiser to assist local persons who are battling cancer. It was a disaster. The food was horrendous (i.e., we were promised chicken cordon bleu but were served something akin to frozen (still frozen in the center when served) hot pockets... the "roasted red potatoes" were hash browns from a bag and then tator tots! The "Chef's choice of vegetable" was either tough, over-seasoned frozen vegetables or raw. The salmon was slimy and smelled (and those that dared to taste it said it was tasteless). The "steak" looked like canned dog food. They were completely understaffed - with charity staff and guests together having to clear dishes and empties. The sound from our DJ (who is exceptional and has exceptional equipment) did not carry well in the room. Although our event coordinator, Heather, was a charm.... the manager, Jackie Langdon, was less than forthcoming and was defensive (contrary to her words to us directly after the event). The chef was fired that night but I believe that he was fired due to the fact that he told me that the owner was "an old man in bed" when I asked to speak with him after learning what our guests were being served. I do doubt that his termination had anything to do with the food that was served as it is my understanding that we were not the first to experience this ruse. We were told we could serve 200 guests but we later learned that the fire code does not support that many. We were promised red table cloths and they did not have enough. Even though the heat was shut off (and it was cold outside), many guests complained about how hot it was in there (there is no air conditioning to cool the room down). Even though the staff recognized how horribly we were treated (one of whom was in tears at the end of the night because of the way that we were treated), the callous owner of The Tower Event Center (Mr. Bob Lefebvre) would only refund the monies paid for the dinner if we were to give him a guest list, which he would cut checks to each guest and give them to our charity to disperse to each guest. Obviously, this would defeat our fundraising and consume a great deal of time, even if we had a complete list to give him. We settled by giving him over $3,000 and have since been told by another restaurant owner that we were "raped" with the charges he would agree to unless we wanted to pursue in small claims court. Our charity, being as small as it is, does not have the time nor funds to bring an action as such so we paid the $3,000. I have since been told that this has been going on for quite some time. Shame on you, Mr. Lefebvre. I believe that our guests were understanding and kind to our plight, realizing that the Tower's behavior was beyond our control and that the event was for fundraising after all, but the event has without doubt tarnished our most beloved event. read more

I recently attended a fundraiser here. The event was very well planned and it was obvious the organization put a lot of hard work into it. The venue itself is beautiful and the view is fantastic. Now the sad truth. I would NEVER attend another event here! They ran out of food, we had to wait quite some time for something to eat and then it was awful. They replaced the veggies with a cold veggie tray and the "red potatoes" were replaced with tater tots! I'm sorry but I spent many years as a banquet server and I know you always plan for many more than you expect to serve so this was beyond unacceptable. Shame on the food service manager and any others who attempted to rectify their own mistake by apparently running across the street to Stewart's and buying what they could find to serve! Disgusting! Very sad that such a beautiful venue has such horrendous uncaring employees! Time to clear out and hire new people! read more

Currently at Easter Brunch and sad to say very unsatisfied. We had a reservation for 18 and the table had not been set yet. We had been informed that they decided to allow people without reservations in for brunch. That was your first mistake. It took our waitress 10 minutes to come over to us to take our drink order. When she did come over the first time her exact words were "I'm sorry I'll be with you in a minute" which is another 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we had waters on our table. 30 minutes later our coffee arrived and another 40 minutes later our sodas arrived. That's unacceptable. We rarely saw our actually server. She proceeded to give our table looks that could kill. Shape up your attitude. Learn to ask for help and don't put yourself in the weeds. Do not allow yourself to be understaffed. There was never any food available. The food was rarely available and if there was food it was the bare minimum besides the omelette and pasta station. I understand that the food is located on the 2nd floor and you need to bring it up to the 9th, however you should be prepared if you're going to take those with reservations and walk-ins. The most helpful person was the man helping our server out. He did more than she ever did and we're thankful for that. They were willing to take a few items off of the bill and send us gift cards, but all of that could have been avoided from the beginning. By the way I'm a server in a high volume restaurant so I know what fast pace business is like and this could have been a piece of cake with the right people and right attitude. read more

I have eaten at the Tower before and it was very good. Needless to say, I was very disappointed today. Expected the same selection of food. Dessert table was very disappointing, hardly any selection. Very little vegetables. No sliced ham or turkey. Omelettes were OK. Bacon wilted. No pancakes. Fruit was very hard, not ripe at all. Very little selection on the buffet. My dished were not taken away until we left the table. Very disappointed. The food does not merit its upscale price. read more

We hosted 28 guests for our Mother's 85th birthday here yesterday. Everyone said they enjoyed the food, overall, and it was quite good as far as buffets go. Everyone also liked the views. Some said they plan to go back in the fall. The staff were friendly and accommodating (they had arranged the seating perfectly for our group.) We had our own area and could enjoy lots of laughs without disturbing other guests. read more

We chose the Tower to celebrate our holiday and enjoy Easter Brunch- what a huge mistake! When we arrived for our reserved time the chaos of the day had apparently already ensued. There was no hostess at the station, but the bartender offered to set us, once she cleared and set a table for us. From there, a very unexperienced server came over and offered to get our drinks- thank goodness! Because the drinks were the only thing we got! The food line was pretty much empty, what little bit of food was left on the line was cold and on par with the local Golden Corral. There were at least 150+ guest in the room and 100 or so were looking for food and complaining amongst each other. An hour later, food line was still basically empty and we were pretty much out raged! The server had the nerve to comp our drinks! This was laughable at this point, we hadn't even eaten and the bill was already at nearly $50! I overheard the family at the table in front of us trying to make a reservation at another restaurant on his cell phone. The family at the table next to us were having a manager comp meals on their bill! Then the hostess turned away a group of 10 people that came in because they were out of food and should have not taken their last minute reservation- which is exactly what she told them-Happy Easter! This whole experience was a fiasco and the management of this holiday disaster should be embarrassed and consider other career choices! We heard every excuse possible- from over booking, to taking walk-in's and accepting larger than expected reservations, blah blah blah. The Tower is a joke- and there are a lot of patrons who won't be back. By the way, the one star rating is because the view is very nice- but I wont ever see it again. read more
