Waited 30 minutes in line to turn in an appeal letter. Pretty straightforward once you get to the front and speak with the clerk.

So, newsflash OC Court people. I will make you a deal. You send one of your clerks here to take care of a 94 year old with dementia every day I might have to be on jury duty, and we will be good! You take him out to lunch. You follow him around when he gets lost, which is a daily thing. You make sure he doesn't go into the street. Yes, as Yelp says, I think this post IS looking pretty epic! How about this instead? Why don't you QUIT with the AI decision making on excuse requests (because I just know you wouldn't ordinarily respond within three hours), and TAKE OFF caring for someone as an excuse because you are LYING by keeping it up on the website! You DON"T do that, so DO NOT LIE ABOUT IT.

It's located in a very unassuming area with good parking in the back. Once you enter, there is a receptionist desk with bulletproof windows and a comfortable waiting area. The Center is basically a one-stop shop for victims of domestic violence and elder or sexual abuse. There are officers with guns, but no one in uniform. At the Center, there are prosecutors, attorneys, advocates, detectives, social workers, government benefits representatives, etc. The whole concept is to make things easier for the victim. Instead of going to the courthouse and waiting all day for a temporary restraining order, the victim can wait at the Center and apply for CalWorks or meet with an attorney or just rest. All of their rooms are designed with victims in mind. Everything's very soothing and they have a special children's room, which was furnished by Disney and they have books, toys, and quilts that the children may take with them. They even have a kitchen and showers (just in case). Everyone there seemed very personable and it seems like a great concept. Granted, the Center has only been open since October 2006, but it seems like a great idea for all cities to implement.

Okay look...we have all gotten tickets before for various moving violations...that's pretty much a…read moregiven living in southern California. The problem is when you have to deal with the court and you miss their quick deadline/court date, you're no longer dealing with the court because they turn your paperwork over to these low class, punk ass, loser dicks who don't know what the hell they're doing! Everyone says and does something different! The court makes me SICK because they're so quick to slap a failure to appear on your record, but when you try to reschedule your court appearance, you can't! Back in the day, you could call the court's traffic division and speak to a live operator and schedule a new date if you couldn't make it due to work, school, surgery, out of town, in labor and having a fucking baby, getting married, hell...sudden death!! Now, there is no one to talk to, so if you can't make your court appearance, you're assed out, because they just slapped you with a failure to appear! And they don't care why you didn't show up. Once that occurs, you're paperwork is turned over to these punks and they raise your fees 10x what it originally was! Then when you call them, they say that you can no longer go to court, that you have to pay the fine either in full or make a payment arrangement with them. If you make a payment arrangement, they give you some high ass up front fee (that most people cant afford to make outright) and then spread the rest out at lower payments over the next few months (are they really low enough??). And if your license is suspended, they won't send the release to the DMV until you make the first payment, so if you just got a new job or don't get paid for 2 weeks, guess what...your license will still be suspended until that first payment is made. I made an arrangement the first time around. My ticket was $230 and the failure to appear somehow jumped it up to $983!!! Yeah fucking right! Where did you losers get that figure?! A $753 jump for a failure to appear?? Paleeeeezze! They told me that I couldn't go to court (first time I called, when I made the deal). Like Oso M. wrote in their review...they totally fucked up my payments and never took the money out! I even called (second call) on the day that they were supposed to take the payments out to confirm everything and the lady told me that everything was good and it had been processed. Called a few days later (third call) to find out what the hell was taking so long for them to process the payment and again was told that everything was fine. Finally 2 weeks later, I called again (fourth call) to find out what the hell was going on because no money had been taken out of my account AND I had received notice from the DMV that they were going to suspend my license. They tell me that I fell out of the "program" that they enrolled me in due to non-payment! Say whattttt???!!! I kept calling and was told several times that everything was okay, even though the money was still there and waiting. I had no idea what was taking them so long to process! The lady tells me that because of non-payment, I now have to pay the full amount before they will release my license. She said that I can't be enrolled in the program now and that that was my only choice. I told her that I wanted to go to court and she said that I couldn't. So I asked for a manager to review my tapes from a prior call because all of this was new information to me, besides the fact that someone had dropped the ball. She said she'd put it through to a manager and I asked how long it would take for someone to get back to me. Guess what...YOU have to call a week later to find out the results. They do not call you. I asked why is the wait a week and she said because there are others ahead of you. No wonder! I am not surprised! I can only imagine what others must be dealing with! I hung up with her and called back a week later (fifth call!!!). I spoke to a guy who (SURPRISE!!!) tells me a different story! I find out that I am actually STILL in the program, that it takes 2 weeks to actually be dropped from it and that I could have made a payment on the down payment amount that I was originally quoted. By this time, I have flames and smoke all around me as I shout into the phone and tell him of my prior four calls and four sets of differing information. He apologized, took a deep breath and told me that I could have beeeeeeen to court to deal with this a long time ago. He told me how long I had to FINALLY be dropped from this program and to either go into the courthouse (apparently GC Services has a special window there) or call them to set up my court date. I chose to go to the courthouse to do it, got my court date and the judge released all those BULLSHIT fees and back down to my original fine, I go. Screw these people! Go to court! Do not deal with them!

First and foremost, the purpose of this review is not to bash GC Services because at the end of the…read moreday, it is what it is. I too had a terrible experience with their customer service window in the BH Courthouse. With that said, my gut feeling is that nobody is happy when their $25 fix it ticket balloons into a $1000 fee for failure to appear in court. We all are clearly angry by such an egregious fee, which I am sure is taken out extensively on the reps who are probably being paid minimally to deal with a lot of frustration. I get it. However, the 1-star rating is not solely related to expectedly poor customer service. The 1-star is primarily due to the erroneously damaging/costly advice that is given by their reps. I made numerous calls to their call center and as I stated above, went to their window. Here were the two options I was given: 1) Pay the fee, prevent your license from being suspended, and forfeit your right to an appearance in court. Payment = guilt. I was dealing with this in late September 2015 and the first available court date was December per GCS. (Side not: This $1000 penalty apparently came into effect sometime after April 2015 - prior to, there was roughly a $50-100 extension fee that could be paid. Apparently either people were paying but still not coming to court. I called every lawyer in town about this. There is nothing an attorney could do for me - they have no preferential ins to get your court date moved up or to squash the ticket with a call. Again, do you due diligence). 2) Have your license suspended and wait for a court date. This was something that just wasn't an option for me. Not willing to risk digging myself into a further ditch, I opted to pay the fee and vowed to never be so ignorant again as to make the same mistake. The more I thought about it, the angrier I got about the whole process. $1000 fee could really sink someone financially, especially in an economy when many are living pay check to pay check. I know I really worked very hard to recoup that $1000, which was akin to taking that cash and literally flushing it down the toilet. It was that senseless. I decided I had nothing to lose at that point. Here's what I did/recommend (disclaimer - this is based on my experience and situation...if you have serious violations you should probably consult multiple attorneys, do your research, and then create an plan) 1) Evaluate your situation and get all your supporting documents together. If you did in fact rectify the fix it ticket or it was erroneous, make sure you have make copies of the originals. 2) Pay or don't pay, but either way you still can go to court in LA depending on your situation. As I said, I paid, but then wrote a letter to the courthouse attaching my proof of registration, etc. People actually do read these letters which is good to know. I took accountability, said that I paid the $1000 in good faith, accept I may have forfeited my right to court, but would appreciate the chance to be granted an opportunity to present my case in front of a judge. 3) I got a reply via mail about 2 weeks later with a court date in early November. I was told by GC Services as well as a couple of attorneys I consulted that the first court date were early December. Because I mailed in my evidence with the letter perhaps things were more cut & dry. Either way, I got my day in court earlier than told/expected. 4) I appeared, the Judge called me first, I approached the bench, and was told I would receive the $1000 back less the $25 court fee. Total time in court: 15 minutes. 5) Just a few days ago, I received my check from the courts which really helped financially. I hope this helps anyone in a similar bind. With GC Services or any other "customer service call center" (for lack of a better word), always DO YOUR HOMEWORK and don't take their word blindly. It's on you. Bottom line is the rep for GC Services does not care one way or the other. It's not her $1000 on the line, I doubt he/she gets paid handsomely to deal with irate customers, and they will say whatever it takes to get rid of you/collect the fee. Frankly, I wouldn't waste my breath to even write this lengthy review b/c I don't see how anyone would give them anything but a 1 star. But, if this helps someone save $1000 bucks or provides some hope to someone who feels there is none in this situation, it was worth the effort. Good luck, stay calm, keep your composure, and let's all make sure we check our mail/don't make the same stupid mistakes again!!!!!
