After Alcohol Wipes at computer desk,
    Alex H.

It was a small library with 10 staff members including a manager. I have been using this library to check out books for kids for more than 20 years. Since the old days, the library has been stacked with books, and unorganized bookshelves. 10ft Long tables have been attached to many other tables. The dark red carpet was filthy with a smell like urine. The library staff were sitting like a log at the desk and never wanted to get up to assist visitors with technical issues or help them direct where the books were. "YES YES YES " The library Staff here often responds, " I don't know ". After the COVID-19 pandemic, many lives have been lost. It was an awakening to live without tomorrow and it recalled our own awareness. This Westminster Library was newly created and it was organized. It was still 10 staff members and 5/10 five out of ten staff way able to perform their work with morality. These five staff members are willing to get up and move around when the library visitors need help. The other five staff members are not willing to operate their acknowledgment or perform the jobs as they require. I asked one of the staff members about the computer issue and she said to follow the directions on the page. I went back to my desk and it's not working so I came back to the front desk and she is the staff member was not happy to respond. It was a disgusting attitude, Low self-esteem Laziness Disrespect Uneducational Library jobs are not real jobs. Every staff member acts like their own Boss. They don't have social skills.

    Pretty new-looking and clean

This is a pretty nice public library. It's very small compared to other libraries but I think they've done some renovations at some point over the past few years so it looks pretty new and modern. I came here to sign up for a library card since I recently fell in love with reading. I'm pretty much an ebook person so I check out books online through the public library but I needed to come in person to get a library card. The process was quick and easy. I had a little bit of down time so I looked around and sat down at one of the cushioned chairs to read my book. I came in on a rainy saturday early afternoon and it was pretty quiet and there were a lot of people so it was really a pleasant place to be. Everything looked and felt clean as well. Overall, I'd definitely come back if I'm interested in checking out some physical books.

This is a nice library - newer than the one they had closer to the middle of campus. I like the third floor (which is the library's 2nd floor - as the first floor is occupied by their computer center/tech lab). It's pretty quiet up here most of the time and the students keep to themselves. There are plenty of outlets on the third floor so you can plug in and recharge your laptop while you study. Plenty of seating as well - I like the ones that line the HUGE picturesque glass windows that overlook the parking lot, Goldenwest Street and beyond. You can see the mountain range far far in the backdrop on clearer days. A great plus is the strong wifi connection here and also that it was nicely ventilated/air conditioned - so it creates a nice refuge from the heat waves we've been having in the area lately. The staff/librarians here are friendly - I haven't had to use any of their services or expertise, but they're always cheerful/happy looking. Restrooms are clean for the most part - the ones on the 1st and 2nd floor tend to get messy throughout the door due to the traffic, the cleanest ones I feel, are on the 3rd floor as most students don't head up that high. Hours can be a bit better - maybe open later during the week and even have hours during the weekends if budget permits. Current hours - Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs - 8a to 845p and Fridays 8am to 3p.

I'm giving the library five stars because I love it there. The lake with all the ducks and geese is…read morethe highlight for me. I usually come every weekend to feed them and study. The library's Wi-Fi works well. The people who visit the library are quiet. Which brings us to my gripe that I must discuss. At any time and at most times, when you're in the main library area on the ground level (top level) pretty much all the library staff is very, very loud in everything they do. When talking to library guests they speak in such a high volume, in contrast to all the other people who are silent doing their things, it is awful terrible loud. They have full blown in depth conversations at high decibels. Libraries are supposed to be quiet places to study. The other part of this gripe is the library aides. Throughout most times I'm there and I do mean throughout, the library aides do this thing....it seems like they throw the books they' handle onto these metal rolling carts they work with. Every couple of seconds you hear the sound of what appears to be a thick hardcover book slamming against the metal cart. It always startles me and makes me furious. I'm a very aware type of person. I would change my work style if my work was creating such a disturbance especially in a place like a library. And there's all these other loud sounds they make with their carts. Often you have a symphony of that and another loud conversation with the librarians which actually is the case this very moment. I'm not lying. I wish there was a place I could lodge a complaint or talk to the head of operations here. I continue to come back because of the waterfowl and the peace I get here and I am productive when I study here. But all the racket almost completely ruins the peace that would otherwise be had there if they weren't so goddamn loud. It's a library. It's supposed to be quiet and mellow. You should take your loud conversations outside if you have to have them. Do you hear any of the guests having loud conversation as you do? That's because they're not part of the problem. Other than that those two significant issues the library is perfect. I still recommend it and you might not be bothered by the noises I described. Give this library a shot. Parking is right next to the library and it has a lot of great views. It seems their books and graphic novels are great but I haven't taken a deep dive. I'm sorry for criticizing the noise but I had to.

They also issued me a new library card as the existing one I had was a joke! I got it in Fall of 2019 and it had a little animation of some books and the lamination was all janky. The library clerk was this older Asian woman and she upgraded my library card for me and I got to choose the one I wanted and went with one with the Civic Center in the background. The card came with a regular sized card and one for your key chain. I also witnessed this same librarian ask a young man, who appeared to be homeless, to leave for resting his head on the table. While I understand there are policies, it felt unnecessarily harsh--especially since the individual was quiet and not disturbing anyone. Some power outlets in the library were visibly covered, which appeared to be a deliberate effort to prevent usage. That, along with the general atmosphere and how the staff handled interactions, made the space feel unwelcoming and tense. She treats littles like they truly matter and are special. And her enthusiastic spirit makes each Story Time captivating and exciting! The children's section is thoughtfully designed with colorful decor, small chairs and tables, loads of toys, all types of puzzles, plenty of STEM toys and an extensive collection of books that cater to all ages and interests. They have huge collection of children's books that includes: board books, picture books, early reader books, wonder books (that read to you!) and fun audio books for kids just to name a few. They also have a AWE Learning computer that my child loves! What truly sets Tibor Rubin Library apart from others is how welcome they make you feel. They welcome all patrons and bring a sense of community and importance to all who enter. Their staff is fiercely dedicated and have always gone above and beyond for us. I have received much help and support from their staff, including help from Miss Chloe to help sign my child up for school. They offer a fantastic array of programs and activities tailored to children and families. Story Time is our family favorite and is very interactive and includes music, games, dancing and bubbles. Some Story Times also include crafts or STEM like experiments which my toddler loves. We've also come to many of their Special Events and have been been blown away countlessly by what a "library" can offer. In April Miss Jenny made sure we knew about 'Children's Day' where she had organized a fantastic day supporting children with a Youth Lion Dance Performance. It made an everlasting impression on my child and myself. It was absolutely spectacular! The library also caters to adults and teens in the community. I personally came to the Author Discussion of Arlene L. Walker presented with Miss Chloe and found it incredibly engaging and fascinating. There were so many great questions that lead to meaningful and engaging discussions - where I felt like I gained a new sense of wisdom. Tibor Rubin is a true community based library that creates a sense of belonging. They offer a safe and nurturing space for young minds and for everyone who goes. I love how quaint the library is and how everyone makes it a point to know you and your child. It's a place my child and I feel safe and welcome when visiting. Thank you, Tibor Rubin, for being a beacon of positivity and learning in our community. We are incredibly grateful for all that you do for all us!
