I heard about a special program where you can get a national parks recreational pass and rent out free from the library! I originally called on the phone and a lady told me yeah no problem coming in and you can get it but I guess she was wrong when I got here. Men at the front desk told me no there's about 1500 people waiting for the pass so I was a little letdown that she gave you wrong information . But then Mihn said hold on let me look and instead of just telling me NO ... Mihn went above and beyond he thoroughly searched every library in Orange County to see if anyone else had passes for like 20 minutes he looked trying to help me. He finally figured out a solution and was able to get a pass for me and I was so thankful since I'm on the trip tomorrow to go to a few national Forest park and was trying to save a few bucks. Thanks again Mihn! You have awesome customer service anywhere so delightful and so happy that you're able to figure out a solution! Thanks again!! read more

I've been to a few libraries in Orange County and LA. And this has got to be in the top when it comes to kid friendly library options. They're always restocking and putting up new options for kids books. All of which are in great condition. For example, in the fall, they have amazing Halloween books. In the winter, they have amazing holiday themed books. Some of my two-year-old's favorite books have come from this library. They also have a really great CD selection, which helps to keep my little one busy in the car when I am able to play her some fun tunes during our drive. They also have really amazing child oriented activities throughout the week. For example, on Tuesdays, they have toddler story time which starts off with some stories and singing, and then ends with a fun art activity. Just a few weeks ago they also had a science themed activity and another afternoon with bubbles. I highly recommend this library for parents of little ones. read more

It was a small library with 10 staff members including a manager. I have been using this library to check out books for kids for more than 20 years. Since the old days, the library has been stacked with books, and unorganized bookshelves. 10ft Long tables have been attached to many other tables. The dark red carpet was filthy with a smell like urine. The library staff were sitting like a log at the desk and never wanted to get up to assist visitors with technical issues or help them direct where the books were. "YES YES YES " The library Staff here often responds, " I don't know ". After the COVID-19 pandemic, many lives have been lost. It was an awakening to live without tomorrow and it recalled our own awareness. This Westminster Library was newly created and it was organized. It was still 10 staff members and 5/10 five out of ten staff way able to perform their work with morality. These five staff members are willing to get up and move around when the library visitors need help. The other five staff members are not willing to operate their acknowledgment or perform the jobs as they require. I asked one of the staff members about the computer issue and she said to follow the directions on the page. I went back to my desk and it's not working so I came back to the front desk and she is the staff member was not happy to respond. It was a disgusting attitude, Low self-esteem Laziness Disrespect Uneducational Library jobs are not real jobs. Every staff member acts like their own Boss. They don't have social skills. read more

This is a pretty nice public library. It's very small compared to other libraries but I think they've done some renovations at some point over the past few years so it looks pretty new and modern. I came here to sign up for a library card since I recently fell in love with reading. I'm pretty much an ebook person so I check out books online through the public library but I needed to come in person to get a library card. The process was quick and easy. I had a little bit of down time so I looked around and sat down at one of the cushioned chairs to read my book. I came in on a rainy saturday early afternoon and it was pretty quiet and there were a lot of people so it was really a pleasant place to be. Everything looked and felt clean as well. Overall, I'd definitely come back if I'm interested in checking out some physical books. read more

The wifi is good, enough tables to sit down, and lots of parking. Unfortunately, I could not focus much here because there are homeless people coming in and out, circling my table a few times, and one guy stood up so quickly his chair shot out behind him and hit an elderly asian woman at another table. The restrooms are clean. The children seem to enjoy this library, it is nice to hear them reading and interacting in their section. read more

My Daughter and I just finished the Beginner's Sewing Class, and it was doodles of fun. Ms. Kelly led the class, and she was absolutely magnificent. She is always so helpful. The best librarian in the history of books. She would certainly make Eratosthenes proud! Andrew is another awesome librarian. He is patient and fun, and takes his time to entertain my Daughter. In fact, he just fixed the library computer that she was working on! He is also immensely engaging during the after school activities at the library. Liz is also a very helpful librarian. She patiently helps us find books, and tells us about upcoming events. She also gave my Daughter a couple of hints on the picture hunt which earned her a sticker! Both Andrew and Liz also helped my Daughter and me when we ran into some issues trying to borrow some books. The staff here are, indeed, the library's best resource!!!!! read more

This is the best library ever for kids. They have fun events on their branch calendar for kids and adults all the time. The staff is super nice and all the events are very professional and educational. They have a huge book selection for kids in the back as well as learning tools. The staff really tries to make learning fun and effective. My kids want to go read books at the library all the time!! read more

It's a 5 stars for me because: -nice staff -very clean bathroom with pineapple soap -very clean and organized -open layout space -good book selections especially Vietnamese book -easy parking When I was reading here, I did observe that some adults were using the phone a little loud or there were a few adults with mental disabilities but overall the environment was quiet and I'm glad the library is a safe environment for all individuals. Recently i had to go see a judge on a personal matter at the West Justice Courthouse next door from the Westminster public library. After my court settlement, I was bored and had time on my hands. I decided to go take a look and check out the library since i had not been to this location in a very long time. I walked inside and it was a bunch of parents and their children reading books and studying on the computer libraries. Pretty small library will tons of old books and magazines. Nice and clean like it has been remodeled a little bit. Staff are nice and professional here. Parking is pretty limited. But do not use this area for court parking. People get caught all the time. Anyhow, always a pleasure to visit. read more

A nice little library with a surprisingly large collection of books. Parking can be a problem. There's a parking lot a block or so down the street for overflow. I once put 14 books in the return slot and none were registered as having been turned in. A staff member was very helpful in sorting it all out. This location is closed "until further notice for tenant improvements" (July 2021) according to the web site. Wonder (a) what are tenant improvements and (b) how come they don't know how long it will take to do them. read more

Nice spot across from the Courthouse, with plentiful parking in the Library lot around the back. Found a book using the online search directory. Which used to be a card catalog, if you're old enough to remember index cards. LOL. OC libraries had several copies, but none in my home branch library, so we placed a hold on a copy and treked over to this one. Wow, super quick and friendly service, and pickup was a quick refreshing breeze. In and out without any delay, even though it was really busy with all ages and ethnicity represented during a weekday afternoon. Well recommended, we will return, (with my book). read more

By far have the most lazy staffs in all the county libraries. They rush to leave as soon before the clock even time, especially the Asian guy who work there, twice he locked people in building. The last time, people told me they accidentally locked the homeless in the restroom cause they were so in a hurry to leave he had to call the cop. Staffs most of the time just sit around doing nothing, they're so bore they often talk with each other more than they work. It seem they go on break more often than they work. I guess good paying county job make people lazy, maybe hours pay is better since they work harder. Horrible internet wifi connection too. read more

The staff seem nice but I just wish they do their job. I understand when kids get together there will be some noise. Still, this is a library. They made no attempt to ask the kids to try to keep it down. Running around and yelling. No manners. A kid, look about Jr. high age, just grab a chair from my table without saying anything. I have taken my kid to different OC libraries events and this branch has some of the best after-school kids programs so far. Their staff is engaging and enthusiastic and their programs are always super fun and creative. The best things are their staff takes the lead and they help clean up after so parents can choose to just relax or participate in the activities like taking a mommy and me class. The facility is also very clean, and organized and everything looks so new. We drive 30-50 mins weekly to get there and it is worth the drive. Can't wait to try out their kids' summer programs! read more

Quiet and well organized library. It is small enough so it has a more intimate feel but it also is big eough so it still has a good , varied collection of different books and plenty of space to study. It has its own parking lot in the back which is a huge plus considering it is right next to a few other government buildings so parking can be hectic at times I imagine. I enjoyed this library. The only complaint I have is the children's and teen section is very small. read more

They also have "Reading To Your Dog" and "Homework Hours" etc... among with Viet speaking staff because ... well, this is Westminster and the heart of Little Saigon after all. This library really holds a soft spot in my heart. As a child, my mom used to always take me here to check out books. Boy was it exciting when I got to have my own library card when I was around 7 years old (inner me at the time: wow I'm such an adult now!!!). Oh jeez, so maybe this review will come off a little biased just because it was a huge part of my childhood. I honestly have not been to this library in SO MANY YEARS. I guess I just lost touch with it over time. However, I am staying in Garden Grove to complete some summer school courses and needed somewhere to study (because honestly my house is like a heat trap during the summer and all I want to do is sleep LOL). Of course, I decided to come to this library. Entering the building, you are welcomed with a blast of amazing cold air conditioning (BLESS). I personally think the library is pretty quiet. There are some people talking and there is also a children's area so it could be noisy, but really? It's a public library, you can't expect it to be completely silent all the time. The library itself is pretty spacious and organized, but don't expect this location to be super high-tech and modern. As for studying, I really love it here. There's only one downfall though (which is why I took off one star), for some reason my laptop cannot connect to the wifi properly. It apparently "connects" but then whenever I load a page, some sort of error pops up. This happens every time I visit, which is why I only bring homework that requires little to no internet access. HOWEVER, I look around me and other people are able to use the wifi just fine on their laptops and there is also the option to use the library's computers (which I preferred not). OVERALL, a really comfortable library for me to study and I wish the hours were longer, but I'll take what I can get. I LOVE YOU WESTMINSTER LIBRARY. :) read more

They have a nice quiet place if you just want to read for awhile. It is fairly small, which I like because if is easier to find what I am looking for. A year ago, I rented a handful of books, some books for research for my college courses. When that spring semester was over, I returned my books thinking that I returned all of them but apparently I forgot one and apparently the library personnel did not tell me, which I know is not their responsibility to do so, right? So the summer goes by (approx. 3 months later) and I get a mail from a collection agency asking for $75 bucks for the missing book. =( At that time I really did not even know I didn't return a book, but I searched all over and found it, went to the library, and worked it out with them. I asked them if they had my phone and email address all this time and they said yes. I asked them if they give courtesy reminders to their customers about these things and they said yes. So I asked them how come I never received a courtesy reminder within the last 3 months and the person who helped me said, "Oh, that's just a courtesy reminder...." and then says nothing else. HUH??? I guess the person was implying that they don't have to send out courtesy reminders to everyone in my situation. Fine. Anyway, I got my fee lowered and returned the book, but a year later I'm still trying to figure out if the collection agency actually cleared my fee in their records... Three weeks ago I was returning yet another handful of books for college course projects. This time I made sure that I had all my books. I wanted to check out some of the books again because I was still finishing up a project. However, the lady who helped me told me that I couldn't check out half of my books again because I cannot check out the same books more than two times in a row. Really? I've checked these books out over 3 times in a row and nobody gave me a problem. She told me that I could check them out again but I would have to wait 24 hours. I asked her if it's OK if she could reserve them for me and I will be back in 24 hours but she said no because these books have to be open to the public to check out. So, I figured that if I come back in 24 hours, I would have to locate all the books where I found them, which is fine because they were all in one location. I wrote down all the names of the books that I needed to check out again and then I left. I returned the next day and went straight to where the books should be located. I found none of them. I then went to the front desk and asked for help. The lady who helped me the day before was not there so another person helped me. She went to look for my books in the office, returned without finding them, and then directed me to the middle table where another librarian can assist me. I told another librarian about my situation, he told me that the system shows the books are available, so he wrote me the codes for the books.The codes lead me to the shelves I was looking at when I first came back, so I double checked if the books were there and they weren't. The librarian who gave me the codes went in the office to look for my books as well and wasn't successful. I just returned these books yesterday so I know they have to be somewhere in this library. Unfortunately I was told that the books shall be on the shelves in the next week. Next week? My project was due this week... *Sighhhh I totally lost a chunk of my references for this project but I think it was the missing principles that bothered me more. First, you won't let me check out the books. Second, you won't let me reserve the books. Third, you tell me to come back in 24 hours to re-check the books. I abide the library policy, return 24 hours later, and the librarians have no clue where the books can be found? Here's the last thing that happened: Two days ago I was yet again returning books at this library. Since I checked out a lot of books, I asked whoever was helping me to check my records to make sure I don't have fees and late books. The person who helped me told me my record is "fine". Two days later I found a book and went to return it and was hit with a late fee. Okay, I understand that it is totally my responsibility to return my books on time if I don't want late fees, but I personally asked the person who helped me about my record and he gave me an inaccurate response and left me under the impression that I did not have any missing books. If I didn't find the book until this summer ends, I'm sure I would get another mail from the collection agency!!! So the moral of the story is everyone needs to be responsible for themselves, that includes the library not just the customers. I recommend that this library stands by its words. If you tell a customer that he/she can come back in 24 hours to check out books, please have a good explanation why the books are not there when the person returns. If a person ask about his/her library record, please give accurate answers. As for the customers, make sure you turn in your books on time!!! read more

Another library that instills that nasty, gross feeling of having to shower after you study here. Just read my review of the garden grove library and that review will echo this one. Poor lighting, loud, and has a weird smell that's unsettling. I've come here as a kid and even nostalgia can't help give this library an extra star. Don't expect to study much if you're here, you'll just end up ppl watching and then wondering why you ever stepped foot here in the first place. Pro's: - Tutoring services for kids; access to Vietnamese-English speaking tutors/helpers for ESL students - I could usually find books on topics that I search for - Computers you can borrow (with a time limit) - The bookstore sells older magazines/books for really cheap Con's: - SLOW Wi-Fi. Forget working from your lap-top if you plan on using the internet. This is a big turn-off, since a community resource like the library should provide reliable access to the internet. It's the 13th century, come on. - Limited seating sometimes - Limited plugs for lap-top chargers (unless you sit at the table for lap-top users) Huntington Beach and Irvine have either bigger, better, or more charming libraries (more funding, wealthier communities = better resources). The next closest library to me, Garden Grove Library, doesn't have fast Wi-Fi either. I end up traveling further for a library or studying at a business. If you're looking for a space to study or check out books, and you don't plan on using internet from your lap top or phone, this place might do. read more

Pros: Librarians are friendly. Environment is cozy. Sound level is minimal. Cons: Wifi is slow. It's so slow, I might as well use the wifi from my cell phone's data plan. I have been coming to this library for many years. As a matter of fact, now my own children come to this library. This branch offers just about everything any library offers. Internet access, a place to sit and read, restrooms, drinking fountain, and books. They have a small little bookstore where you could purchase books for pennies on the dollar. The library bookstore hours are not consistent with the hours on the website. The bookstore is closed on Sundays. This library suits its purpose. It doesn't seem up to date like some other nearby libraries. read more

It's a small library. It is very noisy after school hours. There are a lot of children running around. If you are here to check out a book or use the computer for an hour it's a good library. If you are planning to study go somewhere else. The staff are nice but don't enforce the noise levels. It is connected to the OCPL network so that's a plus. The wifi speed is ok but gets really bad during 2pm-6pm so plan accordingly. read more

Most libraries that I have been to have been really updated. I'm wondering what ever happened to OCPL since most of their branches seem too out-dated. This library is small/ has a few tables/ and definitely needs improvement as for structure/interior/and DEFINITELY their selection of books. :-( read more

This is a really simple and to the point library. They have great customer service, everyone will always help you find what you need. I mostly come here for the book sales, or to donate books. They have a huge selection of books for sale to choose from at great prices. Some are also very old, which is always a fun find! They have a great selection of cook books and self help books. I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're looking to rent a book or buy a new book. :) read more
