Dishonest shop, my mother took in her car to get the rear brakes checked at 8am. Was supposed to be finished by 5pm. When we got there at 4:45 the car wasn't even started on. When we got there the mechanic said the passenger rear caliper was needed because the piston wouldn't go back in. Hugo the alleged manager said we needed both calipers. I asked him why both if only the passenger side rear wasn't going in so it felt suspicious and I asked the mechanic to show me him trying to put the piston in. These people think that I didn't know anything about cars so they are pushing the piston in to show me it wouldn't go back in but I'm aware that the type of pistons on the calipers are ones you have to twist. When I told him that he was using the wrong tools he looked at me like I had 2 heads. I told him the right tool to use and in front of both of them the piston was going back in when I twisted it. They told me that they wouldn't work on the car because I wouldn't allow them to work on it properly. If the piston on the caliper is going back in you simply do not need calipers unless there is a leak which there wasn't. He wouldn't give me an explanation to anything and was getting frustrated that I was questioning Hugo. Very Dishonest people. Update: I took it to Pepboys and they were able to push both pistons in. I took it here right after because they wouldn't work on the car. They let my mother leave in her car with bad brakes. All because I called them out on them being dishonest read more

Terrible experience. Paid top dollars for full front brake job, and did not impress at all. My car still experience metal cranks coming from where the brake job was done when driving longer distances. Manager Hugo, arrogant and rude, does not have the slightest bit of respect for his customers. Rather, he spends majority of his conversation with his 3 phones, and not the customer. Went in for the "one year warranty" as the brake job failed in less than two months. Hugo refuses to examine the vehicle, and states that he is in the right. Not the slightest bit of care after the brake job was done, and only cares about the money he will lose by inspecting my vehicle. Overall, stay away if you do not have the most patience in the world. Great place for car repair. I have been a long time customer of this place and they offer good advice and what pricing options to choose. They range from cheap to expensive. Of course the expensive ones are higher performance solution which is understandable the cost difference... You can bring your own parts and changes. They will only charge you for the labor. For instance, I bring my own synthetic oil and they only charge me for a flat rate labor. They are open on Saturdays half-days which is good if you are working M-F. Believe the positive reviews! I had been neglecting the upkeep on my car after some major life hurdles this past year and there was a lot of different parts with major wear and tear. I am a long time customer of West John Auto for the past 4 years. I went last week because my bumper needs fixing from a fender bender accident and my brake power booster wasn't working. They took great care for routine maintenance and for the body work. They fixed a nail in my tire free of charge! As other have said, customer service is terrific. They will call you if they find any abnormalities with your car. I am never pressure to fix the problem or buy the most expensive part. I am puzzled why there are so many complaints. If you have a problem, call them immediately. The few times I did, they took test drives with me. If there is a problem, they will fix it. Case in point, I was puzzled why my tire pressure was low than usual. The owner explained that in summer, they will lower it intentionally preventing tire explosion. Under 90's sun and driving in the high way, tire pressure can go as high as 40 or 50psi. For any other season, they set it manufacture recommendation. Price wise, I think they are competitive to other auto shops. You get great customer support plus knowing that they will fix it to your satisfaction. Why go anyway else? read more

This shop appeared great when I brought my first car in for a brake checkup. Everything went smooth and my car was dropped off quickly. One good this about this shop is how close it is to my home so I can walk back when I drop off my car. Once I came to pick the car up, that's when the trouble started. I came back to find that my work was not done and the front end of my car was totally disassembled. The worker then told me not only did my brakes need replacement but also various other parts. At that point I accepted work on the other parts because the mechanic told me those parts were responsible for the safety of the car. After I received my car, I called up my friend who was a seasoned auto technician and he told me that I got ripped off. Even if they look appealing, don't go to this shop. read more

Our whole family are long time customers of West John Auto. The owner John, Hugo at the office, and the technicians really care and try to take care of their customers. John has always tried to work with us to find the most cost effective options to fix the problems. They are a busy shop but always deliver the car when they promise, and won't lie and tell you it will be ready at a certain time and it's not, so it may take longer, but the car will actually be ready when they say it will be ready. Some of the other reviewers also have to understand they give you options. If you decide to go with the cheaper options such as getting non-genuine parts and more band-aid fixes - which I did a lot of when took my car to them when I was in high school and college (and I really appreciated the option) - don't expect them to last as long as if you fixed them permanently and used genuine manufacturer parts. I've been here twice. The first visit was for a water pump replacement, which was correctly diagnosed and professionally repaired. I thought the water pump repair was a small job, but Hugo patiently showed us that the water pump is internal and requires a significant amount of time to replace. The second job was for replacing 3 engine coils and spark plugs. All the repairs were clearly explained before work was done. Prices were fairly set before work was done. Diagnostics were correctly performed before work was done. They are patient, fair, honest, and very experienced these are the most important factors when considering an auto shop. Look nowhere else, talk to Hugo and get your car problems solved quickly. What I like most about this shop is the texts and updates I got from Hugo. I have never gotten that type of service from any auto shop, or car dealer. I have used the affiliated auto body shop next door and they do good work. The car was detailed and looked better than new inside and out. There were minor trim issues, which were corrected on a second visit. I don't know if they paint on site, but the paint on the door matches very well under close inspection. If you can involve Hugo in your auto body repairs definitely do so he will make sure your work is done right, and fast. read more

The people here are very friendly........BUT.....like any other mechanic, you just can't trust them! I've been coming here for years because I'm too lazy to look for other shops and there's always an issue. Everything that I fix from here always seem to break easily and within months. When I bring my car back, they make up a story and try to get me to drop another $800 to fix something else. One of the reasons they stay in business is because of their large asian clientele and I can say I've spoken to a couple of them and they're not very satisfied. Trustworthy, efficient, caring, and most reliable mechanics. I cannot stress enough... how great they are at their craft and how great my Wife and I have been treated here. These guys came highly recommended by one of my closest friends a couple of years back and I've never been to another mechanic since. Hugo along with his team of mechanics do great work and if you're not car savvy they'll hold your hand and walk you through the process of getting your car into the best shape it can be in. They'll point out the problem and will take the time to explain it so you could easily understand. They'll then walk you through the solution. At the end of it all they'll give you a printout with diagrams and information on the problem and solution so you could better understand the problem you had and what they did to fix it. They truly care about their customers. I've never had a mechanic call me back to check on their work and make sure I was satisfied until West John Auto. Best auto body shop around! A car backed into my driver door (I wasn't able to get drivers info so I have to pay for the repair). While the dent was not bad at all, there was a large squeaking sound, I went to two other auto body shops and they both said they would have to fix the entire dent, which was about $1,000. I came to Azad and he said he could fix it in 1 hour for $100. The squeak is totally gone they now have a customer for life! I would definitely recommend them for any project, big or small. read more

Costs: A mount and balance costs 15 dollars here. 5 additional dollars if you want them to unmount your old tires for a total of 20 dollars per wheel. Their alignment costs vary depending on your car, in which they say they typically only adjust toe and not camber unless paid for separately. Quality of work: I am not a fan of their wheel balancing machine, as my car shakes a bit at highway speeds, and it certainly did not with my old tires. (this may be due to a defective tire, but i am currently in the waiting room of another shop having my wheels re-balanced, so we'll see...) I brought my wheels back and had them re-balanced, but they still shook, and they suggested my brakes may need replacing. Their attention to detail could certainly be better - while doing the alignment, the boots on my tie rod ends were not loosened, and upon inspecdtion after the alignment, i found the boots to be all twisted up and at greater risk of tearing after a bit of driving. Overall: This is another shop that is open to provide basic service for on the high side of average rates. They are more flexible at getting your car in on short notice than any large chain shop would be. Ultimately, they are fine... but I probably won't be going back as I prefer not to have shops work on my car anyway unless absolutely necessary. The shop owner and manager are very friendly and are understanding of your problems and concerns. I give them 3 stars, as i do not feel as though they are crooks and are out to take all of your money, but the "meh, i've experienced better" that is associated with a two star rating is probably more appropriate and what I think every time im in a shop anyway.. read more
