Now there is a lot of amenities here at the aquatic center but the two big slides in the corner are little rocky. We decided to go down the waterslides when we first got there and noticed that both have flaws. There are wasp nests underneath the slides so you do see tons of wasp flying around. The swirl slide we took moves really slow so you have to push yourself at some point to keep moving forward down the slide. People were coming down quickly after you would get off the slides they got kind of close to landing in the water by us. The straight down slide you catch air midway, especially for a little kids you kinda stopped, touching the slide at one point. Now for the smaller kid area it was perfect for my five year old. They had little slides over there and even a medium kid slide as soon as you walk up nice splash pad a lot more slow pace and relaxing. they do have lifejackets there if needed for children. They also have a café where they serve Domino's Pizza and other snacks and drink options which we did get some Gatorade's and a whole Domino's Pizza, and for the price it wasn't bad.

This review has ben a long time coming...my husband wrote one but I also wanted to share my…read morethoughts. As a family with 3 boys, we had wanted a pool forever but it was never the right time, didn't have the extra cash around or when it was, it seemed like we were in a market where it was difficult to trust our decision with anyone. Until, my husband found Southern Serenity Pools. The owner was branching out to open his own company, which my husband and I both very much respected, being business owners as well. It was clear from the beginning that much the same as us, he branched out to do things his way (the right way). From day 1, there was no pressure and the process was seamless. In March of 2023, we signed our paperwork to get the process started. Step 1, the dreaded permitting, was the longest step of the entire process, but during the waiting period we had already been scheduled to go to the design center and choose all our finishes, ensuring no time wasted. After a bit of a waiting period, on 6/12/23 we finally received the permits and the very next day ground was cleared for the dig. There were many steps after this obviously (in fact being very Type A, I kept a detailed timeline document for this entire process and every step with dates), but work was always delivered on as promised, inspections were timely and we passed each one the first time. Southern Serenity even worked with all of the additional contractors to ensure we had a beautiful backyard oasis (turf, fence, gutters, etc). In mid July of 2023 our pool was being filled and the owner took his own quality time to deliver our pool school trainings. As is with any big investment, along the way there were "little issues" that arose but they were ALWAYS handled in a timely and professional manner. To say that this experience was flawless would be an understatement. As a family we would give 10 out of 5 stars if we could. We highly highly recommend and even now when the water is cold and we don't want to turn the pool heater on, we can't get enough of just looking outside at our beautiful backyard oasis!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Southern Serenity Pools. We are so grateful!!

Bobby Hicks Pool - Me, ready for water polo!

Overall, a very nice public pool. I'm both a platform/springboard diver (and play some water polo)…read moreand an architectural historian, so I have a bunch of things to say here. I'm not sure when the pool was built but in the early 1970s sounds like from what I was told there, making it a full decade newer than I presumed based on the architecture. But what architecture it is! That façade--you just don't get public architecture for mundane things like parks and rec very often anymore. Despite the mid-century modern understatement, it still has something to say and I wish we'd see more of that today. People have commented on the restrooms/locker rooms. Personally, I was not bothered that the men's locker room was showing its age. It still worked fine. What surprised me was the individual shower stalls instead of a gang shower given its date of construction. And I think the whole men's locker room likely is original and without major updates beyond minor fixtures like soap dispensers. For a public facility at this time of construction to have individual stalls would have been considered a bit of luxury. The current state of the mens' locker room is no worse than many pools I've been to for diving and better than the much newer Cecil Aquatic Center in Jacksonville. The dive well: There's a 1m and a 3m board, which is nice. Both are older but in fine shape. The dive well itself is 14ft but tapers off away from the boards to around 6ft. It's safe, but trying to get a dive a good ways out I was concerned by how it looked from the 3m I'd hit bottom but didn't. It's just a visual illusion and I'm used to pools 16ft deep in their dive wells, too. The dive well is located centerline in the pool between swim lanes, which is cool. All the lifeguards and staff I spoke with were awesome and endured my nerdy questions about the history of their facility. Besides open swim, they have a great program seems of water polo, artistic swimming, and other things going on keeping the facility busy. Overall, I highly recommend!

The lifeguards here are great and the swim lessons are so affordable. My kids learned how to swim here so I always recommend it. The restrooms are just okay. Plenty of parking. Happy to have this in the area!
