I have since passed through many times in the last 3.5 years and it is still magnificent. The architecture is very grandiose and picture-worthy. It is relatively easy to navigate; if I can do it as a tourist, I'm confident most can figure it out ;) The toilets (bathrooms) are a bit hidden. You need to go down a set of stairs for the ladies. The wallpaper reminded me of 2006 Victoria's Secret, and the doors are floor to ceiling offering the most privacy of any public restroom I have been in. The entire station is ridiculously clean compared to any US train or bus station I have traveled through. There are many options for coffee and food, as well as a mini M&S and Tesco Express.... It's quite an old station, one of the few classics remaining of the original Central London Railway by Harry Bell Measures. Despite having lifts to street level, this is not a step-free station. There is good signage including a "next train" display hanging from the ceiling. The platform curves slightly, so there is a small gap between the train and the platform edge on cars at the end of the train. Mind the gap. At street level, there is a staffed ticket booth as well as automated vending machines. The usual Oyster readers and ticket barricades too. Note: Bayswater station is only 100 yards away. If you're looking for Central/District line, it's much easier to just walk there at street level than taking a train and changing at Notting Hill Gate.

Expect big crowds here during rush hour with people changing from one to the other. There are also people who take the opportunity to switch if it's a District train and they want Circle or vice-versa. Stairs down to the ticket hall and then escalators to the Central or District/Circle line platforms, this station straddles both Travelcard Zones 1 and 2. TfL helpfully knows the difference and you will pay the lesser fare if you are traveling on an Oyster card. It doesn't really matter what you do, you're always going to exit the station on the wrong side of the road. So there's that. Kensington Gardens is nearby.

The platform area is pretty generic and nothing too exciting, however, the layout of the station is straightforward, and you can get in and out rather quickly. I don't recall seeing an elevator as I just took the steps but this station doesn't appear to be step-free so plan accordingly if you have luggage and access needs. 4* - It serves a nice area of London if you're looking to grab something to eat or shop somewhere with less of a touristy feel, the shopping arcade is cute and it is a decent station overall.

We specifically came here because we purchased a Eurostar train ticket to Paris. From arriving, to checking in, going through customs, it was very organized and people paid attention. It wasn't chaos as it tends to get in the US. The whole process to getting on and off the train was a piece of cake-definitely not stressful at all. If you are trying to get to Paris, Amsterdam, or any outer cities near London, this is the place to be when needing to take a train. I highly recommend Eurostar since it is a high speed train and will get you to your next destination fairly quick. If you are not planning to leave the city, I still recommend checking it out since it is a beauty and I heard, Harry Potter was filmed here.

But they do a good job announcing where we all should trot for a timely departure. The staff is predominantly helpful, especially for the newbies who have no idea why their train isn't listed within eyeshot on those screens. And it's a quick in/out to the underground, or even quicker for overground in the same building. Pro tip if you have a few extra minutes: go upstairs and grab a bench there, along with a drink/snack as you gaze down at the hoi polloi below. Just make sure you jump when the polite announcer calls your number.
