I have since passed through many times in the last 3.5 years and it is still magnificent. The architecture is very grandiose and picture-worthy. It is relatively easy to navigate; if I can do it as a tourist, I'm confident most can figure it out ;) The toilets (bathrooms) are a bit hidden. You need to go down a set of stairs for the ladies. The wallpaper reminded me of 2006 Victoria's Secret, and the doors are floor to ceiling offering the most privacy of any public restroom I have been in. The entire station is ridiculously clean compared to any US train or bus station I have traveled through. There are many options for coffee and food, as well as a mini M&S and Tesco Express.... Tesco Express meal deal for less than £4 cannot be beat!!! 5 stars for convince, cleanliness, friendliness, and Tesco Express.

I love trains and train stations. This is by far the most impressive station I saw in London and…read morenot because it was stylish or new, but because of the old architecture and old tracks. We needed to transfer from our usual line to another to explore London a little more. When I walked into the station, I was drawn in by the massive curved canopy and the larger platform landings. This station was built in 1868 and can imagine what it looked like then. Many years before cars, people were commuting through London via underground rail. The place has history and it was cool to see, while you are on your way to see other places.

However, I have to admit that this place does have to place in my heart because I ended up staying around the corner once so I ended up using this station rather frequently. Oh, it's pretty deep, and while they do have an elevator, they also have stairs, and I get the impression they recommend that you use the elevator despite the fact that it is really quite old.

It's quite an old station, one of the few classics remaining of the original Central London Railway by Harry Bell Measures. Despite having lifts to street level, this is not a step-free station. There is good signage including a "next train" display hanging from the ceiling. The platform curves slightly, so there is a small gap between the train and the platform edge on cars at the end of the train. Mind the gap. At street level, there is a staffed ticket booth as well as automated vending machines. The usual Oyster readers and ticket barricades too. Note: Bayswater station is only 100 yards away. If you're looking for Central/District line, it's much easier to just walk there at street level than taking a train and changing at Notting Hill Gate.

Yeah, there really isn't all that much that I can criticise with this station, but that is coming from somebody who lives in Australia where we really don't have a metro system like London's, or with the amount of public transport infrastructure that London has. Yeah, I don't mind it at all.
No, you won't find Julia Roberts here, but Hugh Grant is still a possibility. Notting Hill Gate…read moretube station It is on the Central Line between Queensway and Holland Park, on the District/Circle Line between Bayswater and High Street Ken. Expect big crowds here during rush hour with people changing from one to the other. There are also people who take the opportunity to switch if it's a District train and they want Circle or vice-versa. Stairs down to the ticket hall and then escalators to the Central or District/Circle line platforms, this station straddles both Travelcard Zones 1 and 2. TfL helpfully knows the difference and you will pay the lesser fare if you are traveling on an Oyster card. It doesn't really matter what you do, you're always going to exit the station on the wrong side of the road. So there's that. Kensington Gardens is nearby.

High Street Kensington tube station serves the Circle and District Lines on the London Underground,…read moreit is in Zone 1 and is the ideal location for the shops and restaurants located in Kensington, including two of my favourites - Whole Foods and Dishoom. It features a small shopping arcade which includes a Pret a Manger, which has a small seating area too, ideal to grab a coffee or sandwich to take on your train, or to sit down with one. PRO TIP: Touch in and out on your contactless card. It pretty much works out cheaper than purchasing a travel card, and it will cap after you've spent so much on all transport in and around London. The platform area is pretty generic and nothing too exciting, however, the layout of the station is straightforward, and you can get in and out rather quickly. I don't recall seeing an elevator as I just took the steps but this station doesn't appear to be step-free so plan accordingly if you have luggage and access needs. 4* - It serves a nice area of London if you're looking to grab something to eat or shop somewhere with less of a touristy feel, the shopping arcade is cute and it is a decent station overall.

We specifically came here because we purchased a Eurostar train ticket to Paris. From arriving, to checking in, going through customs, it was very organized and people paid attention. It wasn't chaos as it tends to get in the US. The whole process to getting on and off the train was a piece of cake-definitely not stressful at all. If you are trying to get to Paris, Amsterdam, or any outer cities near London, this is the place to be when needing to take a train. I highly recommend Eurostar since it is a high speed train and will get you to your next destination fairly quick. If you are not planning to leave the city, I still recommend checking it out since it is a beauty and I heard, Harry Potter was filmed here.
