An easy to navigate frequently served station, if a little in the need of a refurb. Putney station is served only by South West Trains and the primary services from here serve London Waterloo, Vauxhall, Clapham Junction, Richmond, Kingston, Twickenham, Teddington, Windsor, Reading, Bracknell and Ascot.
It only has four platforms so it is quite straight forward until the moment that an announcement is made and your service from platform 2 is now coming in on platform 1 or delayed meaning that the train two minutes later on platform 1 is going to arrive first and get you to London Waterloo first. These moments, which happen about 10-14 times a day, mostly during rush hour add to the in station congestion, so be warned.
Maybe as part of the refurb they could add an underground subway down the far end of the platform to reduce this congestion. Finally, this is the Putney Railway station, East Putney tube and Putney Bridge tube are elsewhere. Putney bridge is down the far end of the high street and over the bridge to the right (10-15mins walk) and East Putney is on Lower Richmond Road (5-8mins walk) the road that is beside the station entrance. East Putney located under the bridge you will see in the distance. read more
