I went to Tokyo express because we decided that we needed to stop eating at amazing places, and go…read moresomewhere average so we didn't over-eat. We chose this sushi place because of it's predecessor - Sushi Station. We were sorely disappointed. By which I mean, Tokyo Express has taken the place of one of the most lacklustre sushi venues south of the city and turned it into an amazing, unique and exciting sushi restaurant that stands out compared to all of it's competitors. The staff do the usual adorably loud greeting when you enter, and offer seating at a booth or at the train. We always opt for the train as it has consistently been magnificently stocked with some of the most exciting and inventive plates I've encountered in my quest for the perfect sushi. They offer water or green tea upon seating and at each table/section of the train they have pots of soy, fresh (mild) Wasabi and pickled ginger. Tokyo Express have all manner of weird and wonderful plates ranging from the classic seared fresh salmon to almond crumbed king prawns, octopus balls, caviare and scallop tarts, fresh Japanese and western deserts and pretty much any type of fun and funky sushi dish you could imagine. I couldn't recommend Tokyo Express more. They have been quiet each time we have dined there and I really hope to rectify this! 5/5 will continue to go back. A quick hint - if you're choosing something that looks like it should be hot, ask them to heat it. Until they get as busy as they need to be, some things won't be piping hot (IE Karage, salt/pepper squid, gyoza) and they're more than happy to re-heat.

My favourite sushi place in Brisbane, wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, cheap and great…read moreservice, it's not flashy, but they sure know how to cook! My husband and I used to live really close but we have moved to the south side, and we still drive across the city to eat here. They have free green Tea and the wait for a table isn't too long, I'm not sure If management had changed but they used to do the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month was every plate for $2! (they didn't serve the super fancy stuff on those nights but it was a great night out to eat till you pop!)

Great for a quick bite! Located in a convenient place near Southbank, if you are feeling sushi,…read more all you have to do is pop in and you can start grabbing plates off of the conveyor belt right away. Each plate is color coded depending on the price of the item. Depending on how much you eat, the meal could be super cheap or expensive. If you tend to eat a lot, then I suggest getting a snack before coming, otherwise expect to pay $$$. If you are feeling something besides sushi, they have options for plated entrees such as curry or noodles. They have a large variety of sushi coming around, but not a lot of nigiri though. If you want something that's not on the belt, you can order it through the waiters but you may want to check on then because I never ended up getting the rolls I ordered! I normally don't like conveyor belt sushi because I feel like the fish sits around for a while and isn't as fresh as a made to order place, but this place isn't as bad as most other places I've been to. I'd recommend for a quick bite to eat!

What I really like about Ginga sushi bar is that their Tuna and Avocado + Teriyaki Chicken roll's…read morecontain noticeably more meat than other sushi trains. They also have BBQ pork buns and wontons, which aren't available at most sushi trains. They also have a decent selection of desserts. Some of their sushi plates are a bit different, such as a sushi roll that contains sausage and lettuce with melted cheese on top of it. It is the type of dish that you would try once for the novelty. Their pricing is reasonable, they are centrally located in Southbank, right next to the movie theatre. It is hard to get a car park in the area, I recommend parking at Secure Parking Cordelia St for reasonably priced night time / weekend parking. I recommend checking them out if you enjoy a good sushi train and are in the area.
