So we are very fortunate in CT to have so many different styles of pizza, this is one of my favorites. Over the years this place has been good, bad and everything in between. I heard there was new(ish) owners so we decided to give it a shot and it did not disappoint. Their pizza is probably the best all-around. Great Cross very crispy at the edges and the sauce is super.

Crust- 6.3 Cheese- 5.8 Sauce- 5.5 Notes: Overly cheesy and extremely oily with little to no flavor. Cheese has a gum like texture. The crust was light and airy, yet had little to no flavor and was slightly oily. Could have used more crust. Sauce has a faint sweet taste to it and was noticeably seasoned yet had an unpleasant after taste. Too much sauce overall. read more

One of my favorite shops. Great Greek style pizza. Crust is perfect (to me, pizza preference varies), always fresh pies. The cheese is the perfect balance of amount so it's no too little but not overly topped either. I usually go with a classic pepperoni and they don't skimp, which is always appreciated. Ohhhh good bye childhood! West End Pizza was the place I went every Friday night with my dad growing up, nostalgia wise, they are some of my fondest memories growing up! The table side "juke boxes", the greasy & delicious Greek style pizza, the booths & even their cash only policy remained exactly the same over 30 years later. This past December, they sold the restaurant & the new owners said nothing would change. I finally made it over since the sale - sadly, the no changes statement isn't up to par with my pizza days of "old". My cheese pie was overdone #1. (It's an absolute travesty to ruin a good pie by burning it) There also was a hint of pepper on the pizza as a whole that wasn't there previously. The sauce - not sure if they changed something or simply didn't put enough on but that was also different. It could also be because they burned the pizza? A great change I will give credit to - they had an ATM machine put in to help with their cash only policy. (Accepting CC's would be better since the margins on pizza are incredible but I don't own the place, who am I!) I am giving 3 stars instead of 1 because it was edible, not horrible but simply not the West End Pizza that I am accustomed to. Average instead of incredible maybe is a better description? read more

OK, we ordered again tonight from West End Pizza. This time my wife had the chicken parm dinner, I had a meatball grinder. They asked me on the phone if I wanted cheese & peppers on my grinder. I responded by saying, "cheese, but no peppers. No peppers". Not sure how they could screw that up, but there were peppers on my grinder, the peppers were melted into the cheese. Also, the meatball itself was sliced into large flat pieces. I thought meatBALLS should be round ? Not at West End Pizza apparently. The grinder itself was bland & flavorless. I did eat it all because I was starving after coming home from an all day fishing trip. But bottomline, it was pathetic. Even worse was my wife's meal. The salad was weak -- brown edges on the lettuce, and some of the nastiest dressing she has ever tasted. The chicken parm was a flavorless breaded patty that was covered with bitter & burnt "marinara" sauce and greasy orange cheese. The spaghetti that came with the meal was equally as bad, inedible. Most of her meal ended up in the trash. Awful and shameful, I really question how this place stays in business serving such lousy food. read more

Not bad! My one *personal* qualm is that the pizza isn't cut into triangles! This is a serious pizza violation, I swear it changes the taste of the pizza. We got 1/2 pep and 1/2 cheese, picked it up curbside. It was $13 for a medium and it was a decent size! West End Pizza. Man. Of the 14 years give or take being a Bristol local, there has been ownership changes and menu changes that didnt work. However in the last few years they've really turned the corner. Bringing back the old menu items. What I can say though, is this. If you're looking for one of the best fried wings spots in the New Britain or Bristol area this is the place for you. The wings are always crunchy tasty, hot and perfectly done. The pizza cut in squares is my personal favorite, as when you sit down to eat with friends or family, you'll never have to argue over the last slice, as you'll more than likely be able to take home 8-9 slices. The only reason for the 4 star is in my past experience years ago I had gotten quiet sick from a pizza I had gotten there. However this being said nothing has occurred since the reintroduction of the old ways. read more

To start, let's talk about the appearance of this place. It honestly feels like as you're sitting there, at any time someone is going to bust in filming a scene for a mobster flick. It's got that old world Italian feel to it, very quiet and personal. They even have these cute personal jukeboxes you can play at your table. My significant other and I were taken aback by the sound choices and how old they were -- and that you could play a whole 'lp'. He has been going here since he was a kid and remarked that all the plates and cups and those jukeboxes had never changed in his entire life. Even the floors and the booths all remained the same. There's something really comforting about that. Our server was an extremely polite older woman, who was very soft spoken and gentle. We really appreciated this approach over a lot of severs in restaurants we encounter that are very loud and boisterous and push things on you. She let us take all the time we needed and through the whole dinner was constantly attending us and making sure we were okay. We ordered a small Bacon and Green Pepper pizza, fries for the table and a small tossed salad. The salad was exactly what I'd hoped for, very fresh and simple with very thin sliced onion -- a big bonus in my book. The fries were hot and crisp and absolutely delicious. They had that taste of oil that was heavily used. Not in the way it sounds. Like the oil was reused for everything, and all the flavors seeped in giving them far more flavor than you could find anywhere else. And last but not least, the pizza. Aside from the bacon not being as we expected (crispy), it was one of the best pizzas I've had to date. If you're in the mood for a robust sauce, a good fresh mozzarella with amazing pull and extremely crispy crust -- this is where you need to be. We're moving to Middletown soon and won't be near this anymore, but it's one of those places we will make time to come to regardless of distance. Pro tip though, bring cash. We ordered 5 of the largest pizza's they have . We had people over for a kids birthday party. This is in no way the same pizza since they changed owners . Any place we ever bought 5 big pizza's They always throw you a small cheese free! We got nothing but not very good pizza. It was a waste of 80.00. Not like the pizza we used to get. This is my family's pizza takeout spot! We love it. We always get a large pizza, French fries, and an antipasto salad. It's always delicious!! The people who work here are so friendly. Just something to keep in mind, they only take cash, no credit cards/debit cards! The first time I ordered from here, I was kind of annoyed because I didn't bring cash and it's quite unusual to run into such a predicament these days. I had to run down the street to an ATM, which wasn't a big deal, just inconvenient. The food was so good though and now that I know, it's easy enough to make sure I have cash. After driving by this place for like 15 years and smelling the pizza on the breeze, decided to stop in for some pie. Inside is old looking but clean, wait staff was nice as well. Literally unacceptable! I ordered two large specialty pizzas and a large salad. The salad was fine.. My opinion could have used more onion. The house dressing was bland. Pretty simple review here. They get 2 points for pizza and 0 points for customer service. I'm sorry, I ask you a question about the pizza you don't look at me and say you'll answer my question when my order is up. You answer the question. The older woman at the counter was very rude. Normally I have loved this pizza place, but tonight I am very unhappy. We ordered dinner for me to pick up on the way home from work - a large pizza, small pizza, and a salad. When I arrived to get it, they couldn't find my order anywhere. Come to find out, they gave it to someone else. I am extremely disappointed to say the least. My family going back to my grandparents have been eating at West End and have never had one bad thing to say. Until last night, after eating one slice of my pizza I pulled for another slice and noticed the slice was connected to the other slice by a piece of literal thread. Like a huge piece of thread. And when I say connected I mean I had to tug to unconnected the pieces together. I was confused and upset because I had already eaten a slice. However, I loved this place and I understand that mistakes happens so I decided to go back in and let the owner know. I came in calm and simply told them I found thread In my pizza. The owner then proceeded to tell me that if the thread was baked in the pizza it would've "disintegrated". I was confused as to why he was trying to discuss with me the science behind what would happen to a piece of thread in a pizza during the baking process because I simply do not care. He was rude the entire time I was there which was entirely too long for the issue at hand. It was as if he was questioning me. Like ah yes I got them, I got my free slice of pizza. But our other two pizzas we got were fine, but I totally got them on that one slice. He then asked if I wanted a new one which at this point I'm insulted he's waisted so much of my time trying to debunk the "thread theory". The owner then orders the woman behind the counter to give me the money back, all while his mask was completely off hanging on one ear. Whole time mask off standing over the food. Disgusting. Not one other employee had their mask off, a lot of the employees I know have been there for years and I love dearly. I hate to write this review for them because they have nothing to do with how awful this experience was. The new owner is trash, and Stephanie (old owner) would've never let something like this happen and that is why this place will never be the same. This place has been around forever. I remember going to birthday parties there as a kid. Their pizzas used to be excellent, a little greasy on the cheese but not as much as I've seen at other places. Their grinders were always a little salty for my taste. I know they also have pasta but I've never had that. As for now, their pizzas are greasier than I remember but still crispy, the cheese on them is saltier as well. If you order the pepperoni pizza, the pepperoni is always crispy, which always astounded me since the cheese was greasy. Like the other reviewers said, there is no delivery, so I can't order from here anymore as I can't drive anymore. Parking was also an issue a lot of the time and many people had to park on the sidewalk to get their order. It is also cash only, but that should never stop anyone from good food in my opinion. Overall, a decent place to get a pizza, but it used to be a lot better. Just remember to bring cash and order before the dinner rush so there is a place to park. read more

This is a staple for us annually after every Lake Compounce trip. We always just get pizza so I can't talk for anything else they serve. Their pizza is traditional Greek pizza, lots of cheese and grease- in other words yummy! I wouldn't go out of your way to go here, but if you're coming through it's definitely worth the stop. I understand the people who don't quite get the charm of this place, but really it's a basic Greek-style pizza restaurant and take-out with a beer and wine license. It's simply the best pizza of this type there is, and they churn it out in vast quantities. They just don't always take the time to smile. The same family has been running this place since forever and time stands still inside. Enjoy trying to identify the 70's pop singers in faded photos trapped in the booth-side juke boxes that worked until only a couple years ago. Be prepared, it's perfectly round pizza, pan crispy-bottomed but thicker than Italian tossed-in-the-air style crust, and not like Chicago deep-dish at all - much thinner. Also, it's square-cut. Yes, square, so some pieces in the middle have no "handle". You get to pick which kind you want- crust or no! I like the plain cheese it's chewy and salty with lots of sauce with plenty of browned cheesy bubbles and edges. Toppings are the classics and quality. The 2-tier old fashioned deep pizza oven is visible throughout most of the restaurant as the pies are checked on and shuffled until they are ready to emerge molten hot. On busy nights customers gather on a bench by the door waiting for their orders to go. A basic small Greek salad is plenty for two - with tons of salty firm feta atop the iceberg lettuce and tomato, thin sliced onion, real calamata olives with pits, etc. All the basic Italian style dishes and grinders are here and a choice of table or a booth with a view of the local traffic, since this place straddles Rt. 72 and Divinity St. at the "V". Parking is tight when it's busy, which it is most nights. Closed Monday. This place churns out an amazing amount of delicious food, cash-only. read more

I grew up on this pizza. No other can compare. Best sauce, toppings, and omg the cheese. Also, the wings melt in your mouth. It's a small, family owned restaurant, not in the best area, but is totally worth it. Greek style, so you don't have to eat half a pizza to full you up. Absurdly amazing.
