Empty store. 4 employees. The clerk ignored us as she rung up our item and kept talking on the phone. Yes, that one.

Still in shock. I hope this review helps someone who is thinking about shopping at West Elm. Rudest customer service I've experienced in a long time. To begin, the store was empty and we were not greeted as my mother and I walked in. There were at least 3 employees working. Fine. Big deal. I went over to the counter to pay for my item and the clerk was on her phone. She didn't even look up to acknowledge us. My mother and I are still the only customers in sight. After a minute or two she begins ringing up the item while on the phone the whole time. No eye contact. "Credit or debit?" I wasn't sure she was speaking to us or the the person on the other line. She was apparently addressing us and I answered "credit." The item she had placed in the paper bag had fallen over and made a big THUD on the counter. She didn't bother to pick it up and kept talking on the phone. The receipt had printed in front of us. She didn't bother to rip it out nor to hand over our purchased item. She still kept chatting away on the phone. We waited. Sick to my stomach, I took the receipt from the printer myself as well as the bag containing my purchased item that had fallen over and proceeded to leave the store. Even then, she did not even say a thank you or a glance up at us. Taken aback by the terrible customer service, about a minute after walking out of the store, we decided to return the item we had purchased. She's still on the phone. Only when I began complaining to her in a raised voice, did she finally look up at us for the first time. Her initial response was defensive; she said that she was helping another customer on the phone and so that was why she ignored us. I asked why she couldn't convey to the person on the line to wait a few seconds so that she can call over someone else to ring me up. It was only then she finally said she was sorry, which I'm not sure she even meant. Another sales assistant came to intervene, but instead of offering apologies, she defended the clerk who ignored us and kept making it a point that the item I was returning is a final sale item and that she is going to make an exception just this once (she reiterated this 3 times to be exact). It did not seem to register in her that the reason I was returning the item had been b/c of the horrible customer service. I felt no sincerity from either sales associate. The first sales associate repeated to the second, "I apologized and she's [i.e. me] mad and I'll take the blame" as if she had done some heroic act. My mother and I felt degraded and extremely uncomfortable. That was no "apology." I have issued an official complaint with the customer service department of West Elm on the day of the incident and am awaiting response. I was told it will take up to 24 hours. I may further escalate the matter. I have the name and business card of the sales associate who was busy with the phone instead of attending to the customer in front of her. If you would like to spare yourself from an unprofessional and pathetic shopping experience, I would avoid West Elm of Westport, CT at all costs. I hope no one else has to go through what my mother and I had gone through.

So off we went. To our very pleasant t surprises Finn, our 1 year old rescue was not just "allowed" but WELCOMED. Greeted by not less than three sales associates! Even the floor manager came but came by and took Finn's picture for their welcome board. This wonderful experience carried over to helping choose the right purchase. Truly worth the ride down and time spent shopping. We look forward to coming back!!.

The worst customer service ever. We went to the Westport store on April 12 and ordered a kettle…read morethey didn't have in stock. It arrived April 30 and we were informed that the order would be cancelled after 5 days. May 5, five days later, we went to the Westport store to pick up the kettle. The order had been cancelled; apparently, the kettle vanished, we couldn't even buy the display item. I called the Westport store about a refund to my card; I was given a 1 800 number to call. I called that number and was referred back to the Westport store. I called the Westport store and, admittedly, lost my cool a bit, but was told by an associate, "This is not my problem." Um, this is your problem because you work for Crate & Barrel, am I correct? I was hung up on. I received a voicemail in return, and when I called back, was hung up on again. I worked for C&B ages ago in San Francisco, and if I'd displayed such customer service demeanor, I would have been seriously reprimanded, if not sacked.

Coronavirus or not, there are some antique things I will just never in my right mind buy: bedding, bed frames, sofas and cushions. But anything that I can easily hose down, wipe and clean with ease such as wooden tables, wooden chairs, shelves- are keepers. I've been around the world searching for a small wooden table I can use for my portable sewing machine instead of lugging it around my house and FOC II met me here. This place has Vintage, some Retro and can probably find a few Contemporary pieces. And, let me be clear about something: Furniture on Consignment is legit with quality finds. And you don't have to put the hand deep in your pocket since you can find something for all budgets. My $65 small wooden table is cute- but I'll funktify it with a color to suit my style. Service from Terri towards the end was friendly and Hunter made sure he got my table out in one piece in these tight corners. Don't mind returning.

I hate to write this review bc I have been a client of DWR since the year they opened. Purchasing…read moremany Eames, Mooi, Kartell etc but this last experience with the Westport location was so awful I had to write. I ordered 9 pieces of Loll outdoor furniture in early April. My sales person was very nice and said it would take 6 weeks which I was fine with. Fast forward to mid-June when the pieces should have already arrived. I called my sales person and asked him if he had an update to which he said he would do some checking. Not sure why no follow up is done on their orders in the system and why it's not done until clients to call them. He said the delivery company for DWR had received the items a few weeks ago but one of the tables was damaged so they held the entire order and didn't tell anyone. I wondered why he hadn't followed up on it when it was due in but I let it go bc he seemed like he was trying. We finally got the pieces early July with the exception of the table which was to come in the following week. When I followed up to see when the table was going to be delivered I was told not until end of July. After emailing and not hearing from my sales person again I called the showroom only to be told he is "on vacation" and when asked when he would return I was told they didn't know. So I asked if someone else could help. The person was very nice and explained she didn't see the table due in until early August (I ordered beginning of April) but she would check into it. After no one followed up again in August I called and asked for an update. I was told they didn't know where the table was, then the manager called to let me know the table had been at the DWR warehouse for 2 weeks awaiting delivery. No one had called me or called the warehouse to follow up. Finally received the table end of August. If I had ever known it would take 4 months and endless following up on my end I would have never ordered the pieces.

The swivel squeaked and moaned and was very embarrassing when a stranger sat in it. I waited several months for the base to arrive from Denmark. A trucker delivered it, but could not install it. DWR assured me a furniture medic would be dispatched. After two weeks, the box remains in my living room as I wait and wait and wait for a medic. I've received lots of promises, but no action. Very poor customer service.
