We had Dustin for our wedding up in Big Bear, he was booked through the venue. We filled out the online forms with our first dance information and music choices. He had the wrong song for my husband's mother/son dance and when I went to tell him that he pulled out the paper saying it was the right song, like he knew more than me, and I showed him exactly where I had the correct song listed. He said he didn't have that song but he could download it and play it in 20mins. Meanwhile my husband and his mom are awkwardly standing in the middle of the dance floor. After that he comes to ask me what type of music we want played, even though I spent a lot of time on his online forms filling out the music I wanted. To top it off he was rude to our guests, called out 2 separate people over the mic, he was a jerk and upset a handful of people. read more

Dustin did our wedding on June 26 2014 and he was not good. he was 30 minutes late to our ceremony which he was also suppose to do. he did not mix songs well. he would play a Spanish song, then a English song ... So it didn't flow. Our guest would get up and dance. Then sit right back down. His job was to get our guest to dance the night always but instead, all my guest were complaining about him. It was like he just put shuffle on an iPod. I sent him a couple songs for him to play at our reception and he literally played them all in the exact order that I sent him one after the other. oh, and he messed up the song we walked out to after the ceremony concluded. I'm so glad I found Dustin! I first came across West Coast Flawless DJs when I was searching for a DJ on WeddingWire and saw their great reviews. Since a DJ is so critical to a wedding reception, I also performed my due diligence with a Yelp search. Everyone spoke so highly of them, so I wanted to check them out. When I contacted them, Dustin was so responsive and flexible. My fiance and I met him, and we instantly clicked. Dustin also introduced me to Mandy who I did end up booking for "Day of Coordination" (please see my review on her as well). We hired Dustin to DJ and emcee our wedding on 8/30, and everything went so smoothly. Whenever I reached out to him with requests, he was so responsive which I really appreciated since I did a lot of the wedding coordination myself. He has an easy to use website whereby we could provide information on our party for speeches, first dance song requests, timing, etc. It was so helpful since I was coordinating everything myself and I actually forgot about some aspects of the reception. Dustin also sent me reminders prior to the wedding and set up a call for us to discuss songs in detail. He was so accommodating because I requested specific songs that are not common or easy to find, including an acoustic version of a song for our first dance as husband and wife. I really appreciated this attention to detail because it was just perfect during the reception. Dustin was also already set up when I arrived at the reception location so I was pleased with their efficiency and time management. Dustin was highly recommended by a friend and he made a very long road trip to DJ and emcee at our wedding. He resides in L.A. and our wedding was in San Jose, CA. The drive alone would have been about 5-6 hours (one-way), not including the time he spent to load up and unload his vehicle. From our initial phone conversation, Dustin made my wife and I feel very comfortable and we couldn't stop talking about his professionalism and his expertise and knowledge in the field of music and broadcasting. We quickly realized that we wanted his service at our wedding. The website he provided for us was easy to access and well-organized. What I appreciated was his list of MUST PLAY songs and DO NOT PLAY songs. This was especially important because we understand that a DJ can actually make or break a wedding reception. This provided my wife and I some control over what we absolutely wanted for us and the guests and what we absolutely did not want for us and the guests. Dustin was then given the freedom to perform and express his talents in between, and he kept our dance floor filled the entire night. He sounded and seemed motivated and enthusiastic. I've been to weddings where people stood around and stayed outside for convos, drinks and cigars. Sadly, the dance floor was always bare empty. But, Dustin continued to play songs that kept people dancing and moving within the dance floor. His nifty toys (fog machine, uplights, disco lights, and lasers beams) played a large part in making the dancers feel like they were elsewhere other than in the middle of a wedding dance floor, which could be awkward. Last comment I want to make is both a positive and somewhat of a negative...but, ultimately will still highlight the positive... One other thing, and which I personally appreciated, was that he never rushed us during our planning stages. I was sending in our last second song choices and making last second wedding outline changes on the day of the wedding, which he was very accepting of. HOWEVER... This did somewhat forced Dustin to make some last hurried additions and changes that threw him off a bit. He was unable to really prepare and get familiarized with the schedule. I know this is in large to my lack of attention to detail and my procrastination, but I wish Dustin could have kept us in order a bit firmer and got us moving and finalizing a bit earlier rather than later towards our wedding day. BUT... with that being said, Dustin never complained and never looked too rattled or frazzled. He made the ceremony and reception come together and flow, and at the end of the day, almost all of our guests stayed and Dustin continued to keep the dance floor busy! Thank you Dustin for your hard work and thank you again for your time and your awesome service. We, all, loved your personality, your voice, your looks, and your talent!! Dustin djed our wedding last weekend and did an incredible job. We are very picky about our music and he honored all our requests. He wasn't on his own agenda but all about doing what we wanted while also giving us great suggestions to make it exactly what we wanted. I have been listening to Dustin's music for over 15 years now. It speaks to me, I guess. He is extremely talented and I have no doubt he can serve up the best DJ party/wedding of anyone. The bonus is that his sound is unique! Nothing corny, unhip, just plain bad, etc. comes out of his work. If and when I ever get married, there is no doubt that I will absolutely try and book him first - assuming he has room in his schedule! He is also very responsive on his Facebook page. Whenever I have been particularly fond of a particular piece, I have congratulated and thanked him on his FB page. He always replies - and is very grateful and happy that people enjoy his music. You might try searching on Soundcloud for some of his songs, or sign up for his podcast, "The People's Mix." This would be a great way to listen to his music and see if it is what you like. Even though you will likely request your own songs for parts of your wedding ceremony and/or party, he will be able to do it. If you read any review about Dustin, please read this one. After the heartache Dustin caused us both before, during, and after our wedding, I STRONGLY urge to you read his other 1-star reviews, as he ended up doing a lot of the same things to me, my bride, and guests that others have listed. I'm kicking myself for not doing so and wish I would have read his long explanations and excuses for these problems as a high-quality service simply does not have to excuse itself this much. In short: Dustin is an unprofessional DJ who cannot handle the pressure or customer service for high-end, formal events. Period. No matter what he says, our wedding night was ruined because we went to bed sick to our stomachs with embarrassment and anger over his being caught stealing and how he acted towards us and our guests, rather than feeling the love from our 2-day wedding. Here's what happened: 1. Dustin played the incorrect song over the bride's entrance to the wedding ceremony (I've seen his other reviews where he played the wrong song all together). He eventually solved it 30 seconds in but not before the damage was done. 2. Dustin blew out his own speaker at our event, and proceeded to yell at my guests, my bride, and me, explaining that we had somehow forced him to setup his equipment in a way as to cause it to break. During the dinner his personality shifted from what we had known into one of a very difficult person. Suddenly he was very angry and negative where, after he let loose on everyone, then me too, I had to verbally shut him down, reminding him that everything was in fact fine, and then had to walk away in total disbelief. In the middle of the event mind you. 3. Dustin flat out refused at times to play the music we hired him to play. He persisted in playing, older, slower songs which immediately the Bride requested be changed. Dustin, upon hearing this from the Maid of Honor, the Best Man, and cherished guests, flat out refused saying he preferred to play music that all ages of people could dance to, and that was his style. We understand this but had spoken to Dustin about our Grand parents unfortunately having passed years ago, and that this wedding was a celebration for us and our friends! Despite our having two dinners with him before the event to confirm, he seemed to revert back to wanting to play music for much, much older people, which was clearing our dance floor of our friends. After Dustin yelled at him my Best Man had to say to him, "I understand your style but these people are paying you and you need to play the music they have requested." 4. Dustin readjusted all the audio after the videographer had confirmed the levels with him. The videographer is now forced to splice together distorted audio, so our idyllic wedding ceremony which we spent a year planning now sounds like it was recorded on walkie-talkie's. 5. AND THE VERY WORST was we caught Dustin stealing high-end LED candles ($65 each) that were decorations around our very lavish setting. Now we had given all the vendors bottles of wine, cash tips, and cards as thank you gifts. So our horror was when our closest family friends, who own the venue, watched him from their bedroom as he roamed around searching for different sizes of the candles, tested them individually to make sure they worked, and then proceeded to walk to his car and place them inside. On my wedding day I had to confront and stand their mortified watching him unpack his car to give back the decorations. This in front of a father figure to me. Never have I been so embarrassed. Dustin shamefully has tried repeatedly to say that he, and worse that WE, misunderstood that all decorations weren't to be taken, similar at times to flower settings after parties being given as gifts - this despite their being specific, succulent gifts for all attendees. When Dustin speaks to this he will again try to say he thought they were gifts. And again, worse, he has suggested to us multiple times that it was a big misunderstanding on our part based on the fact that WE don't understand gift-giving customs at weddings. This belief on his part has been categorically proven false, as we spoke to all other vendors since and each one was clear that their gift, card, and cash tip were their gifts, not that they could wander the property, which was very nice, and take decorations. Dustin can handle a small event I'm sure, but his causing us so much stress during the event, being so rude to our guests, bride, and groom during the event, ruining the audio for our videographer, and worst being caught stealing show that if you are throwing a high caliber event, Dustin is absolutely not the DJ you want. I urge you to hear the hurt and disappointment in this review, read the other reviews which confirm the same issues, and please save yourself the heartache of hiring Dustin and his potential disappointment. He was the only, and single largest, mistake we made in planning the entire event. read more

So happy to finally see this DJ company get some props on Yelp. I had Sergio and Dustin spin for my wedding in Cartagena, Colombia five years ago. Such cool dudes. They were personable, happy to fly, and spot on with they're music selection. They took a big load off my shoulders by coordinating directly with local vendors in the area (even helping to organize and DJ the party AFTER the reception!). Sergio did a great job with the music throughout dinner. It was romantic without being too fluffy or tired (so over every DJ playing the same songs). Once the dancing started the music was perfect and the floor was packed. We were so happy with the vibe. The previous review was right- both Sergio and Dustin know how to get on the mic just enough to add the perfect energy and ambiance without having the "cheese" factor so many other DJ companies have.
