"Say hello to my little friend!"…read more I do wonder whether Scarface himself is aware of this place existing. I'm sure they must have obtained some form of permission to use his name, and his likeness on the signs and in the menu. This place is home to the jumbo 24" pizza. This thing is the biggest pizza I've seen in a normal pizza place. I mean, I've seen bigger pizzas, but they're normally home made jobs. They're also loaded with toppings and taste amazing. The prices aren't the best in the world, but you're paying for quality here, and I can't fault them for needing to charge a bit more than the rest. At least you're getting value for money. If you're having a party then you need to grab a few of these jumbo pizzas. They'll definitely go down well.

Situated in a charming stone cottage with a true Italian Pizzeria feel, Grotto makes seriously good boutique gourmet pizzas. Unlike hit and miss franchise pizza bars run by random casuals, the pizzas here are pretty special. Not quite as good as EST on East terrace on an overall basis but some of the pizzas are slightly better. Firstly they are thin and crispy and very well cooked, secondly the sauce is home made Napoletana. They are not oily or salty and they have imported Peroni red to wash it down with! We went on a busy period on Friday night, normally a period where you can guarantee delays and service issues but the opposite was true, we got looked after better than most retardants! The owner even came up to our table and asked if we were happy! Go for the meatball pizza (roast pork and fennel meatballs with basil and Parmesan) or the "pumpkin, pig & kid" washed down with one of their Italian reds. They even heat up the home made zeppole!

This is a suitable philosophy for the people at Grotto, who have chosen to keep it simple and do the one thing that they do best: simply good pizza. The Salty Pig is a popular choice and, like its restaurant, is nice and simple. It boasts numerous types of ham and is neither too basic, nor too fancy. I tire of restaurants creating overly ambitious meals that never quite hit the mark. Good food doesn't necessarily have to be exotic or expensive; all it takes is a good understanding of harmonising flavours, and Grotto's pizzas do just that. Hidden away from the business of The Parade, Grotto is surprisingly quiet despite the relatively short distance from the main street. Though casual, the interior is charming and intimate, and is suitable for a quiet dinner for two or group dining. If you've got a specific craving for pizza, I suggest passing on the cafes for a night and giving the masters a try.

This is another whole 6 inched bigger than a Party Pizza which you can usually only get at local pizza places like this one. Hugest ever and earns it a fifth star! Plus their range is fantastic. They have garlic bread, wedges, ribs, chicken nibbles, a variety of pasta's and salads, hot dogs, hot chips, nuggets, dim sims, calzone, choc mousse, ice cream and drinks. They also have a fantastic range of pizza's including all the usual ones plus a hotdog pizza, omelette pizza, satay chicken pizza, sweet chilli wedge pizza, yiros pizza or sweet chilli chicken pizza's. They also have gluten free pizza's available and offer $5 delivery within a 5km radius. Rather than getting a choc mousse or ice cream for dessert though I strongly recommend you try the Chocolate Delight - chocolate sauce, banana slices and pineapple. Heaps better than one on offer at another pizza bar nearby (which I thought was good until I found this one).

Clay and Coal is one of the few restaurants that gets my tick of approval. Indian paintings adorn the walls; ghazals (classical Indian music) lends a soothing and relaxing ambience to patrons as they enter into a gastronomical affair, appeasing one's mind and soul. A regular here, I highly recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh ($11.50), Beef Vindaloo ($11.50), Fish Bengali Curry ($14.50) and Goat Curry ($16.50). The meat is tender, creamy and almost melts in your mouth. If you can't handle the semi spicy flavor, dive into a tall chilled glass of Mango Lassi ($3). Almost like a smoothie, it's perfect concoction of blended yoghurt, bits of mango, mango juice and sugar. Vegetarians would love the creamy Palak Paneer ( $8) and two of my favourite vege picks, Aloo Gobi ($8) and Vegetable Kofta ($8). It definitely goes well with a warm bread of naan ($2) or bhatura ($2.50). No Indian cuisine is complete without tucking into its colourful and rich desserts. Pick the milk dumplings soaked in sugar syrup and flavoured with cardamom seeds Gulab Jamuns ($5) or sample the homemade Indian icecream, Mango Kulfi topped with generous toppings of pistachios. It's a perfect family restaurant, kids are welcome with open arms and there is a fairly good wine list that will make your dining experience extra special. They get extra stars from me for adding gluten free, nut free and lactose free codes in their menu. Ask for chef/owner Hemant Gusain who will gladly recommend some of his favourite dishes.

It was upon stepping into this modest looking deli with fluro lighting, 50s vinyl chairs and plastic tables, random cooking equipment scattered around and big, black and white pictures of beautiful Italians with "I love Napoli" written on them hanging on the wall that I felt like I had returned to a pizza shop from the mother land. Walk out through the kitchen to toilet at the back of the shop and you might trip on a bag of pizza flour on way but don't worry, the lino floors will protect your fall. Enough about the interior, that doesn't really matter. In traditional fashion, the star of the show is the hand made blackened pizza oven sitting in the middle of the shop serving up damn good WOG Pizza. We thought we'd be modest an just order one 12 inch Frutti di Mare (seafood) and a bottle of wine to share (funnily enough sipped out of those promo wine cups that you collect from various wine events and functions over the years). But after devouring this crispy based, sweet tomato sauce covered, melt in your mouth seafood pizza we decided we couldn't stop at one. The Truff Truff was next - a creamy, cheesy base of truffle oil, cheese, dried mediterranean herbs and more cheese. Forget manners, there's no forks or plates here and the owner really couldn't care less if you came in or not. He does what he loves and I think even if there were no customers in store he would be happy. The girls on the floor are friendly but really, who needs to make small talk when all you want to do is finish off 2 large pizzas in 30 minutes and then roll home?
