That means this place has been in existence for more than 40 years. That makes you stop and think. I needed to try this place, I needed to know HOW a pizza place could last for more than 40 years. I got my answer the moment I entered the place. The first thing you see when you enter is a big black beautiful wood oven. This thing has seen many years of service and it's still working its magic today. The rest of the place looks like it hasn't been upgraded for as long, but the secret has to be in the food, right? RIGHT! We had our pizzas packed and journeyed home. It was long drive, let me tell you. The smokey smell of the pizzas was amazing. When we finally bit into them we were not disappointed. The toppings were plentiful and the taste was an experience that only a good old fashioned wood oven could provide.

He can still be found stoking the wood oven there. Over the years I have eaten the pizza here many times and they are consistently a crowd pleaser. They have a good pick up deal for around 15 bucks but can do delivery as well.

It was upon stepping into this modest looking deli with fluro lighting, 50s vinyl chairs and plastic tables, random cooking equipment scattered around and big, black and white pictures of beautiful Italians with "I love Napoli" written on them hanging on the wall that I felt like I had returned to a pizza shop from the mother land. Walk out through the kitchen to toilet at the back of the shop and you might trip on a bag of pizza flour on way but don't worry, the lino floors will protect your fall. Enough about the interior, that doesn't really matter. In traditional fashion, the star of the show is the hand made blackened pizza oven sitting in the middle of the shop serving up damn good WOG Pizza. We thought we'd be modest an just order one 12 inch Frutti di Mare (seafood) and a bottle of wine to share (funnily enough sipped out of those promo wine cups that you collect from various wine events and functions over the years). But after devouring this crispy based, sweet tomato sauce covered, melt in your mouth seafood pizza we decided we couldn't stop at one. The Truff Truff was next - a creamy, cheesy base of truffle oil, cheese, dried mediterranean herbs and more cheese. Forget manners, there's no forks or plates here and the owner really couldn't care less if you came in or not. He does what he loves and I think even if there were no customers in store he would be happy. The girls on the floor are friendly but really, who needs to make small talk when all you want to do is finish off 2 large pizzas in 30 minutes and then roll home?

(But ask for a salad and they'll make you one). Great beers and Italian wines (by the bottle only but you can take the rest home). This wonderful simple and charming little gem serves up fantastic wood oven pizzas and isn't trying to do anything else. Not salty or oily, with a very light airy wood oven crust topped with buffalo Di mozarella, prosciutto or whatever you like from the menu. And randomly in the back streets of Campbelltown (which isn't so bad not being on a main road as thru have a cool outdoor area out the front).

From the moment we walked towards the restaurant the owner said hello and greeted us, the staff were very friendly and helped with menus and the specials of the day. Service is quite fast and the selection of food is wide and the wine list is well thought out, we had several meals and everyone was very impressed with the food, taste and presentation. I has the Duck Raghu and I was impressed with the taste, my partner had a pizza which smelt fantastic from the other end of the table, all the other meals were very good. Each meal came out one at a time, this is a bit different to other places but I feel that this is the case because each meal is made and plated up fresh the moment it leaves the kitchen. There is also a good selection of cakes here and coffee is quite good too, if you are in the area and feel like good Italian I would highly recommend Anthonys.

Their pasta is lovely and usually what I get and their coffee is always a winner. They are now open for breakfast which makes them even better! Location wise, it's not the greatest, being on the corner is Sudholz and Lower Portrush but their is generally ample parking unless the tile centre is having a car park sale!! All in all, a winning cafe which I highly recommend. It's nice to have something like this that's local and doesn't require a trip into town. Lastly, they are quite kid friendly and will do their best to accommodate strollers. There are several high chairs available.

We were brought one or two pizzas at a time, the kids were starving, then a plate of pasta that would have been a plate for one person, the food was pretty average, nothing to rave about. The time it took out, was way too long! We ended up there for two hours, just because there wasnt enough to eat, so we left and went to another restaurant to have a wonderful meal - all 10 of us!

We were served by a great waitress who was on top of things and new what she was talking about, although the other waitress who seated us seemed rather vague. The food was above the standard of other local pizzerias, yet I felt that they were a bit too heavy on the cheese. Everything was reasonably priced, and being right around the corner, it's convenience has meant that we have been able to walk over for desert on occasion or order a pizza and collect it without too much hassle. It's a joy having such an inviting, friendly restaurant so close to home. It is certainly not the best pizza you can get in Adelaide, but it has raised the bar on what the standard is around Magill, and it's convenience makes it special.

It's no longer my local pizzeria, however - like a supermassive black hole, the thought of its pizzas is always pulling me towards them. The gravity of these pizzas affects me more the closer I get to Athelstone, however the stellar mass of their tasty bases and flavorous ingredients is always curving space time around them so I am still within their event horizon while at home in the Hills. Our family favourite is the "inferno" which after adding olives and anchovies has what can only be described as the best combination of flavours that have ever been put on a pizza. This is one of those meals that I could safely say I would eat every day for the rest of my life on a desert island with perhaps a few beers to wash it down. The other bonus with DaMario is that it is a family run business, with the same owners who have been there since I can remember, and I've been going there for at least 15 years. They take pride in their work and the standard has been consistent the whole time and will be into the future as the younger generation continue the tradition. Also, DaMario supports local football teams (or soccer, depending on where you grew up) and have Adelaide United and other signed jerseys and posters on display. The only downside to DaMario (for me) is that it's not next door to my house. There is always the option for me to buy a caravan, grow a long beard and wear tissue boxes as slippers and park in the carpark so that I can eat their pizza for every meal, so they can hardly be blamed for that.
