I love pizza and immediately went to investigate. The Oven is not really the best looking pizza bar, it has the feel of your local family pizza store. No money spent on dressing up the shop. But for where there is a lack of stylish decor, these guys make up with some tasty pizza. Well priced, cooked, and good quality ingredients. The cooks are also champions and happy to have a casual chat while constructing your dinner. I recommend The Summit pizza and asking what the specials are for the day as well. They like to be creative with ingredients. This pizza store is what the Adelaide hills needed. Some pizza that is good quality and not too expensive. There is plenty of competition for them in the hills. But I think once the word gets out, they will hopefully branch into a bigger restaurant. Tip: like their Facebook to see their special offers

The service was great and we were welcomed to the winery like we were family. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful view as well as getting to watch our pizzas being made fresh in an epic wood oven. Not your standard pizza toppings but they were very yummy - we had the marinated lamb and smashing pumpkin! The pizzas were delicious and it would be remiss of me to mention that the wine was delightful. I'd suggest booking, it got pretty busy pretty fast.

Having a chat with the owners was half of the reason you made the drive up the freeway, but now, well.....things have changed a little. Grumpy's still has their own Brew on Tap, and there are a couple of good drops on offer, but the Home Brew store is gone which is a damn shame. More people now go there for the wood oven pizza than the Beer, which is absolute sacrilege! I was there myself this afternoon on a wine tour and stopped by for lunch. The place was just over half full inside and we got a table easily. We were given a table for four so I could fit my baby in the pram at the table. We ordered a 12 inch with half grumpy goat & half zorba the sheep. It took about 25 minutes from ordering to arrive, but was worth the wait. The grumpy goat was delicious and well presented, however I thought, for the price, a little short on goats cheese. Zorba the sheep had lovely flavors with plenty of toppings but after having had lamb pizzas at Goodlife & Russels pizza I expected the meat to be of the slow cooked variety, not roast lamb sliced then whacked on a pizza...but that's just my preference. At $29 (+ $2 surcharge for half/half), I think it's a little over priced, the food could come out a little quicker & the wait staff could be a little happier..., but all in all it was a good dining experience.

We went inside to place our order, giving them our table number so it could be delivered to us when it was ready. We had a duo of German sausages served on top of mashed potatoes, with a bit of sauerkraut on the side and a couple of mustards. The other meal we shared was the Vienna schnitzel, with a few French fries, a little greens salad, and a side of mushroom gravy. Everything was delightful and tasty, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Looking out over the main street through town, with beautiful autumn colors on the leaves, was wonderful.

There is a real family atmosphere which lets you enjoy a private meal without "contending" with those around you. The wait staff are super friendly and efficient. The food is great. I remember having the soup of the day in a real cold one and it just did the trick. When getting takeaway, ordering ahead is a real timesaver and it all went off without a hitch. There are some great dessert options and the coffee is good to go.
