This is a small little cafe located on Jetty Road (closer to the Brighton Road end). I had never…read morebeen here before until yesterday when my friend told me she had the best foccacia from here. We met there for lunch and we were greeted by two staff from behind the counter. They were very warm, smiley and welcoming. The lady handed us menus and offered us to take a seat - inside or outside. (Most of the tables were for about 2-4 people, so I wouldn't recommend large groups coming here.) We ordered at the counter and they brang our lunch to our tables once it was freshly made. I chose a smoked salmon foccacia with capers, lettuce, spanish onions and fresh dill mayo - sounds good hey!? It was! My only criticism is that there was a bit too much bread, but I find this the case with most foccacias any where. Pasta Gourmet's menu includes pasta (shock!!!), pizza, curry, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, chicken schnitzel, a large breakfast menu, cakes, and of course tea, coffee and cold drinks. Oh, and one last thing, everything is under $15!!!

The pies were full of meat and gravy, and had a really nice flavour and texture. The base was nice and firm, and the tops were all flakey. Perfect with a big dab of tomato sauce. The coffee was great too, nice temp (though it had been sitting in a car for ten minutes), and a great flavour to the beans.

I got the duck special which was ok. I felt it was lacking some flavor. My bf got the carbonara cause he's been dying for a good one in ages since he went to Italy. It sounded like they prepare it the correct way so he ordered it. It was WAAAAAY too salty. Not sure if the salt was from the pancetta, but it tasted more like they added salt in. Do not recommend the carbonara at all.

Hello Italy! This gorgeous Italian restaurant is now an absolute favourite…read more You walk in and find freshly made pasta hanging up and they even make their own bread all of which to a standard Nonna would be impressed with. The service was great - there was no rush for us to leave and we spent hours sitting there and enjoying our food. We ordered antipasto and then three different pastas to share and had them staggered throughout the night so we could fit more food in! We enjoyed the fried sausage meat and bread (MUST HAVE) as well as the tasting plate which was overflowing with delicious offerings. Then we enjoyed gnocchi con pomodoro, penne con salsicce and linguine tutto mare my favourite was the tutto mare (a must for any seafood pasta fan)! We kept our drinks traditional with Bellinis and Chinotto with vodka (apparently its a thing!) Can't wait to head back again and work my way through the menu!

Lovely intimate little place with open frontage and sea breeze, pretty bar and even prettier staff. The food was the best I've had in ages, and really good value. For $20 we got a marinara piled with fresh seafood, and my stuffed eggplant was delicious but so filling I did that 'so sorry I can't finish it really was delicious' apologising thing small serve eaters like myself have to do. It's a curse, it really is. The owner was lovely and attentive, checking in with all of his patrons regularly to make sure we were having a nice time. And we were! They had a great wine list and for a boozer like myself, this is paramount. There was a weird white sheet covering one wall and my mind was racing with possibilities of what it could be hiding: turns out they're renovating and extending the dining room. More Cucina Nuova I say! Piu Piu!

I love Henley Beach in the summer. It's a an effort to get to from where I'm living but the beach…read moreis wonderful. So after gazing out over the sea and then dancing at a wine bar in the afternoon with friends I decided to grab a dinner from Cucina Nuova before heading home. It's not on the waterfront, rather on Henley Beach Road but a quick and easy walk. Like many Italian style restaurant/cafes in Adelaide the menu is familiar sounding. Cucina Nuovo has familiar dishes, reasonable prices, and lovely staff. The food is nothing revolutionary but it's yummy and service is lovely. My waitress was a real gem. The only real bone I have to pick (the lack of originality is only a minor point) is that one of the menu items was listed as gluten free, as a coeliac I ordered the meal but asked my lovely hostess to specify to the chef that I really needed everything to be GF. I was then told that one of the sides which comes on the plate with this main (the pollo royale) actually contained wheat. It was an easy enough swap to rice and I was so glad they picked up on it but I don't ever recommend that an institution advertises a GF meal that actually isn't gluten-free. It's a warning to always double check for the consumer as well. After that issue the meal was prepared and I haven't been sick at all so they were very careful. The chicken was tasty and free-range but I would loved a teensy-little bit more moisture, the sauce was very nice (cream-based), the side salad fresh. I seasoned my meal with chilli oil which was lovely and it was nice to be able to add my own, personal level of heat to the dish. I can imagine coming to the beach with a bunch of friends, throwing on a cute summer dress after swimming, and settling down to some (gluten free!) pizzas and white wine.

Not that I have a problem with cute scooters, I just assumed it'd be over-priced and only serve rocket and pumpkin wraps and peppermint tea. I was wrong. I wildly underestimated Modinetti. I think this is the best place I've eaten in ages! Modinetti does breakfast and lunch - good for the quick stop or a lazier magazine reading morning. The atmosphere inside is pleasant and laid-back and I was pleasantly surprised to find out there was a nice shady outdoor seating area out the back. The inside area is really lovely without being too over-considered. The staff are friendly but not forced. There is a nice buzz in the place - I overheard lots of friendly gossip and chitter chatter. Now for my favourite part - the menu. It's all Casalinga Italian - 'casalinga' meaning domestic or homemade. The dishes are all fairly basic but delicious - simple combinations of flavours that you wouldn't get at many Italian restaurants. There is a range of vegan and gluten free options. Everything is incredibly cheap - $6 for a medium sized soup or a breakfast dish or a little pizza or a salad. $7 for a focaccia. This morning I had the Brodo - a clear broth with chicken parmesan meatballs. It was light and refreshing, with a light sprinkle of herbs and a crusty piece of sourdough toasted with olive oil. Cracked pepper and parmesan on top. The perfect summer lunch. I can't wait to come back here, will have to try and wake early enough for breakfast. My only criticism is that I wish it were open on Sunday mornings!
