I had West Auto Center do extensive maintenance work on my Honda Insight. I had done routine fluid changes, wipers, tires, since 2012 and not much more. I've exclusively owned Hondas so I'm aware of what tends to wear and when. I had shopped a dealership and another independent shop before deciding on West Auto. Belts, bushings, plugs, pads, rotors, joints, struts, filters, tend to go at some points. As a matter of course the fluids, battery and any adjustments were done. The following is noteworthy. Communication in all areas, is on point, from repairs, to logistics. The cost is reasonable and it's clear what needs to be done and when. The front office of the shop is well taken care of, which is also indicative of the work done on vehicles at the back of the shop. The people I spoke to were polite, considerate, and through. My 2012 is now like a "brand new used car". I look forward to bringing a newer car in for some detective work on the mystery sound coming out of the rear "body" when in reverse on an incline. read more

Came here for car service of my camry many years ago and it was an amazing experience! Father and Son tandem really did a good job on my car. After They did a 40 point inspection of my car, the owner (dad) showed and explained to me one by one what is wrong and needed to be fixed. Very honest owner and their prices are really fair. West Auto Center is a great place to go with car issues. And if you have AAA you even get a discount. They will check out your car and let you know what the issues are. You then get to pick which ones you feel are most necessary to deal with if you do not want to deal with all of them. They will let you know the cost and they take pictures of the part that has problems. I feel very comfortable with all the employees and never feel pressured. Went in for a check engine light and some random jolting to 7 RPM and then back to 3 RPM. They were very transparent throughout the whole process and Mike walked me through where they found the problem and why they thought it was the main culprit. - The mechanic identified code related to the throttle body and wheel speed sensor. Regarding the transmission, they recommended replacing the wheel speed sensor and pigtail connector due to a broken connector causing no contact and triggering the check engine light. Additionally, they suggested replacing or cleaning the throttle body and relearning the production codes. As a preliminary step, Mike advised me to schedule a road test to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before taking it home. Ended up finding some extra issues and fixed them for no additional cost - They also offer dropoff services at no extra charge, shoutout to Wendy for the ride home! The small privately owned auto repair business is a gem! West Auto Center is in the Lake Balboa area. I looked through AAA's approved repair shops and gave this shop a call. My car was doing weird things and I was connected to Mike the owner. Mike is very knowledgeable and he spent a great deal of time with me on the phone trying to figure out what the problem could be. I discovered that not only does Mike, the owner, know cars so do his mechanics. I was very impressed with the mechanics I dealt with as they too were very knowledgeable. The front office is also very knowledgeable and working out the arrangements of leaving the car and picking it up, went smoothly. In a word I got a lot of help from a lot of people at this business. They do not have enough stars on here! this place is a 10 star place. My Ford Flex had a weird thing going on where they steering wheel was locked no other issue, multiple people took a look at it with no luck finally had it towed to them. They where able to diagnose and fix the problem with in a couple of hours. They also did a basic check and found other issues that where luckily covered by insurance, they took the time to call and make sure it was approved. Everyone was very friendly, was very professional , turn around time was great. The staff is amazing. I highly recommend this place for all your needs. Glad to have my car back running healthy. I wanted a place that would guarantee the work and they did just that! They fully explained their recommendations and they were dead on accurate. Then quick to service my car overnight. The team was able to diagnose a broken seal and fixed the issue for $500. That was 2 years ago. So i had totally messed up my motor on my dodge challenger scatpack with crank shaft damaged and all the good stuff, so i decided to try out west auto center and the guys happily took my car in to get it checked out and found out it had been too damaged so they helped me get a whole new motor right away and of course it was very expensive but they worked with me to pay off the repair in time, and now the car is smoking the tires again all thanks to west auto center, so greatful for them if it wasnt for them my car would still be stitting with no life, i recommend this shop to anyone who wants the job done right, and there is no better then west auto center!! Had gotten some repairs done at another NAPA Autocare Center in LA, and realized after about an hour of driving that our engine was spraying (no, not leaking--spraying) oil. After getting AAA to tow the car to West Auto, Mike and Rosty quickly called around and got NAPA to cover the majority of damaged parts, and were upfront and honest with us about the coverage system and how it worked. They then got the repairs done very efficiently, steam cleaning the engine and replacing the damaged parts. They even gave us rides to and from a nearby hotel while the car was being serviced. The car has now gone almost 2000 miles since the repairs (towing a trailer the whole way), with very few issues. I was having trouble passing my smog check at the start of this year due to my catalytic convertor failing to pass a test, even though it was brand new (West Automotive had helped me replace it last year after it was stolen). I worked with the smog test shop, but they weren't able to help me sort out the issue so after trying countless driving cycles and failing three more smog tests I took my car back to West Automotive for some help. Mike and his crew were incredibly friendly once again and took extra time to try to help figure out my issue and pass my smog test, even though it's well known for being a fickle thing to figure out. He consulted with some catalytic experts and tried a few processes with the car and gave me instructions for driving cycles, and eventually I was able to pass. Six months later from the beginning of the process, and I couldn't have done it without them.
