It is very un-assuming from the outside but once you come in, it's a huge area for your activities. The shuffleboard and darts are free. The pool and the snooker tables are 50 cents a game. Not too bad for Vancouver if you ask me. They are well-kept, too! There's a good mix of demographics here too - not just servicemen. University students and alumni from UBC come and hang out here, too. The jukebox is always playing. Bands play on Wednesdays and weekends. It could get soooo packed especially if the band playing has a following. Servers are sooooo accommodating that they've actually become my friends! Regulars are very welcoming, too! And the drinks! The drinks are cheap! Like c'mon.. $4 for single highballs, $9 for double Glenfiddich, $5 for beers! The pour on cocktails is also very generous. Lastly, you and your friends will be undisturbed here. You guys can even show up in costume and they would think it's cool! You can also order pizza or bring a cheeseboard for all they care. It's a nice lil space for hanging out. And you could actually hear each other talk here :)

There is also a good variety of martial arts to choose from (karate, taekwondo, Chinese Wushu). Can also learn to play a musical instrument too. The Kerrisdale Community Centre has a nice indoor pool with lessons for everyone from beginners to people who just want to play in the water. A single visit to an adult to the pool is $5.36. In addition, the centre has a fitness area with a one month pass for adults that cost $30. There is a large basketball court, a youth area, and loads of activities for per-school and school kids. There is also a seniors center and a library under the same roof. I would highly recommend stopping by the centre and grabbing the Recreation Guide with all the details of the Kerrisdale Community Centre. It is well worth your time. I went just a couple of days ago to just sit down in the lobby area and watched people walk by as I studied for a major exam. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Their were several people in and out of the centre of all age groups. There was even a birthday party in one of the rooms that is for rent. I was able to study and use the library with free Wifi from the lobby area. Highly recommend... Check out what the centre has for you at www.kerrisdalecc.com

Cammie leads the class, and it's a perfect introduction to a structured environment, tailored to the readiness of toddlers. First is 25 minutes of supervised open play (parents/caregivers stay with the children), then a few minutes at a supervised, structured art project at the art table (e.g. painting, or gluing leaves on a tree-shaped paper - n.b. this age group needs a lot of help with gluing). After art, everyone washes hands and heads to the circle area for bubbles (way to motivate toddlers to assemble somewhere!) and circle time with a very very short story, then some puppet-singing games, and ring-around-the-rosie and good-bye. The child I bring is just 15 months old, and he enjoys watching the other children, as well as playing with the toys & equipment. He obviously needs active management in his interactions due to his age, but he seems to benefit from the opportunity to play with other toddlers, and he's certainly tired out for his nap after a morning at Little Friends. Fantastic venue to celebrate your princess or toddler's bday!…read more Love the setup--kids' blow up castle and rides in the big gym, good for 30 kids easy... then the eating area/room which also quite spacious, in an L-shape layout. Kids washrooms here too. washrooms everywhere. Only minor detail is the kitchen location in between, a 20 feet walk down the hallway. Maya was quite helpful, so the bday package for $200 or whatever, included 2 hrs, 2 pizzas fr Fresh Slice and her help throughout the whole day! Would recommend for sure. Parking isn't as bad compared to the traffic and pedestrians. For the after party and scenery, we knew it'd be good for other families who haven't been to Granville Island for awhile. Plus this centre is a bit heritage like, sure not as modern as the Olympic Village one but it's got character. That's me ;)

I told the desk clerk that I had been a member for over 30yrs and that most of the clerks knew me by name and all they had to do was check my phone number but they kept insisting that I needed photo ID to prove it was me. They wouldn't let me into the class even though the posters stated that all you had to show was your vaccination card and that is all that is required in most places in Vancouver. I was totally very upset by this and Immediately cancelled my classes.
