Some people who work on the truck do speak English so don't be dissuaded by lacking Spanish ability. The truck never moves and is always in the same parking lot, so you don't have to hunt and track it down like other vendors in Columbus. We were greeted by a nice man who asked if it was our first time. He guaranteed that this chicken would change my life. From behind the counter two pieces of chicken appeated, the samples. I must say, it was tasty. Here's the lowdown, they only serve tenders and fries. In my opinion it's not really a tender. The pieces are larger than popcorn chicken, but not those big, thick tenders that other places serve. I would say each piece was between 2 to 3 inches. Perfectly crispy, and the batter is good. You have a choice of 15 different sauces. I also thought the waffle fries were good. I saw them behind the counter cutting up fresh breast meat. Each sauce looks like a 3 oz cup. Big East's BBQ, and the Sizzles blue cheese were winners for us. The mouth kracken was a little salty for my preference. If they served bite sized fish and shrimp I would probably live there. Tip: Don't rely on the online menu, it's outdated.

He makes an amazing remoulade and his own spice mix that's just the right hit for this five star food truck lip smackin good gumbo. On top of all that, he is just a good guy who happens to feed and care for 145 homeless men at the shelter he runs. He and his family give back to our community, run a great food truck and enjoy the famished fellow foodie friends who leave full and smiling. PS- He also sells his gumbo by the quart for any special occasion you might need something a little out of the ordinary to impress your guests with! Thank you Mr. Gumbo for what you do! I visit the gumbo dude often, my family & I have been supporting them for at least 5 years now…read more getting it almost every weekend & even following them to food truck events just to eat... then it would've been 5/5 stars... but lately the food is less than good. My typical is a seafood gumbo/bourbon chicken bowl & the gumbo is usually fresh, but the past few times it's been really soft (the seafood & rice), slimy from too much ocra & lacking in flavor. i also think it may or may not have given me mild food poisoning. i'm unsure if there's a different person in the kitchen but you can definitely tell. Now for the bourbon chicken... it used to be amazing!! but now i question if there will be enough protein, if they'll give me too many tiny shrimps (which have gotten smaller) if it'll be overcooked... The food here truly is great, they're just lacking lately. i'd really like to see a turn around because this was one of my favorite weekend spots but i can't continue spending $20 a person for mediocre food. I ordered the vegetarian option, mushrooms and dumplings over mashed potatoes, and it was everything comfort food should be. The vegetables were cooked perfectly with a delicious kale carrot and celery base, the gravy was rich and flavorful, and the mashed potatoes tasted homemade. This wasn't a token vegetarian option, it was clearly created with the same care as everything else on the menu. The dirt pudding was pure nostalgia in a cup, complete with crushed Oreos and gummy worms, and somehow managed to taste even better than I remembered from childhood. You can tell this menu comes from someone who genuinely loves feeding people. If you know Kira from behind the bar at Rehab Tavern, you'll recognize that same warmth and personality in the food. Creative, comforting, and ridiculously delicious. I can't wait to see what Rebel on Rye comes up with next. Columbus needs more pop-ups like this!
