Food is good. A bit of the oily side. But tasty. We enjoyed it a lot. Large portion too

    Chonqing Spicy Tilapia Special
    Helen S.

Traditional Sichuan food in a very lowkey setting. The newest addition to the small business center which houses Superior Pho and Ha Ahn. It's dingy, pretty empty, and just barely staffed which almost made us turn away at the door, if not for the intrigue of the photos of the spicy boiled fish special and the steady stream of loyal takeout customers. Park in the uneven lot behind the building, and get a key to use the bathroom at your own risk. Maintenance and decor are in the "hole-in-the-wall" category, and after being seated under the flickering neon window sign, I almost was ready to leave again. Strangely, much attention was given to the large, laminated menu which promises colorful and aromatic Chinese dishes traditional to Chongqing, and also that your wallet will take a small beating. To test the waters, we got just two dishes - Chili Sliced Beef (a favorite cold app of mine) and the Chongqing Spicy Tilapia Special with recommended add-ins. The beef was tasty and tender, just the right amount of heat, and with a healthy dose of crunchy fried peanuts. We weren't sure what to expect of the Special, especially given that it basically cost two regular entrees, but we were not disappointed. Our friendly waitress brought out a large tank practically the size of her torso filled with bubbling, hot oil, powered by a portable gas stove, and HEAPED with fish, herbs, and inexplicably... french fries? While the fries aren't native to Sichuan, they ensure that you will not leave this dish feeling hungry. The Tilapia Special is quite heavy and very filling, but the tilapia was actually cooked just right without being too chewy. It's served Chinese style, meaning that there will be bones to maneuver around. I don't think it's necessarily worth getting the other add-ins like lotus root chips and mushrooms since we didn't find many in the oil bath, but you do you. The sole front-house staff was our waitress/hostess who continually manned the take-out guests while pleasantly obliging all our asks such as extra rice, water, and napkins. At the end, she brought us a complimentary dessert of fruit, nuts, and beans that is definitely an acquired taste but I found myself enjoying in spite of the strange combination of flavors. Overall: great flavor and friendly service, countered by overpriced dishes and shabby vibes.

Saw a new asian spot open up and ofcourse I wanted to try it. Went with no expectations and found a great joint with really good food. It's a small place with maybe 12-15 tables but neatly done, loved the interior. Coming to the food, I ordered a bunch of stuff and most of them we liked - the service was quick too. For the appetizers I ordered egg rolls, pan fried dumplings and lamb skewers - they were all absolutely amazing. Husband has become a fan of the lamb skewers and I of the dumpling dipping sauce so much that I asked some to go as well! For the mains we ordered popcorn chicken and Nanchang noodles and loved them both. The noodles was saucy and tasty while the popcorn chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside with a tender juicy inside! Love it, recommend it and will definitely be visiting again!

To preface my review, I tried this place via takeout so I have no opinion on the service. Guys, guys the food is great. I got a few dishes go the out with a friend and had zero complaints. We got the Braised Lamb Noodle Soup that has a spice to it and my friend loved. The to-go container also split the broth and the noodles/vege in two different to compartments which was great. I got the Beijing Fried Sauce Noodles which were delicious and I will be back for. In both of these you had your choice of noodle: udon, soba or rice. We also got the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce and Mapo Tofu which both came with a side of rice. Both were flavorful and lovely. Note that I got both of these with no spice since I wasn't sure how spicy their dishes would be. When I go back I want to get them spicy but even without the spice level I didn't find them lacking. For dessert we got the Fried Buns with Condensed Milk and they were fried and sweet and reminded me of childhood. I will definently be back and would recommend you try it out!

One of my favorite Chinese spots in Cleveland. Wen's is one of those hole-in-the-wall places that looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but definitely impresses when you step inside. It's a pretty small restaurant with a tiny staff, so depending on when you go the wait can be upwards of 30 minutes. However, the food is fantastic and very authentic. It's always a great sign that the restaurant is mostly filled with international students. They offer a lot of large party pot options if you come in bigger groups, but the portion sizes are generous overall. Highly recommend the braised pork belly, cabbage, and cumin lamb.

We decided to try Wen's and would recommend! It's hard to find good authentic Chinese food in Cleveland but this place hits the spot. We started out with Wen's Special Mix, which was a great variety but too spicy for my taste. The braised pork belly was my favorite dish and would recommend! Next time I want to try the fish, it seemed like everyone had it at their table. Will come back!

The cumin lamb meat chunks had holes in the middle indicating the meat was cooked on skwer before and was repurposed. Not good.

I have mixed feeling about their food and probably won't go back unfortunately. I ordered their cumin lamb for dinner today. For a $22 dish, I was expecting freshly cooked ingredients. I was first surprised to find out the lamb wasn't thin sliced but in big chunks. Some of them are hard to chew on. After a few bites, I noticed small holes in the middle of the lamb meat chunk, as if they were cooked originally on small skwer then got thrown into this fried dish with other ingredients to be cook again. They also sell lamb skwer in this place as well. I'm questioning the freshness of their food right now. It really bothers me that they precooked the lamb for other dish then recycled it for other supposedly freshly cooked dishes. It's really unfortunate as I love their bbq pork feet. But food safety comes first. Won't go back again.

Wonderful edition too Asian Town. Everything is made with care. Best mapo tofu I've ever had. The ingredients are fresh, and you can tell they pay attention to how each dish is presented. The food is seasoned to perfection. We had mapo tofu, lamb skewers, and the sweet chili tofu appetizer. If you're non- Chinese, some of the menu items will seem unfamiliar, but if you go with the items I mentioned, you won't be disappointed. Can't recommend those items enough. My new favorite restaurant in Asia Town. Also, they have coconut water (you know, right out of the coconut) which I haven't had since I was in Puerto Rico. This place is awesome. They're working on the interior, but it has a nice cozy interior. I love the area, and three street parking is super convenient.

An authentic Chinese restaurant in Cleveland, not far from Downtown. Food has a unique favor. I forgot a name of the noodle soup that I ordered. It was delicious. The place looks junky but the food was good.

Braised pork belly and chefs special appetizer

The food is fantastic, and the chef's special on the appetizer menu was addictive. If you're a spice fan or fan of authentic food from western China (Sichuan, Hunan) this place is great to test your taste buds.

Great Chinese food. We ordered Chinese bbq and spicy dry hotpot here! I would recommend the pork feet skewer!

Authentic as can be as far as aesthetics, service, and food. The pork buns may be some of the best I've had and on par with anything better. The texture was perfect moist, soft, and airy. The pork did not deviate from well done traditional dim sum and there was no surprise flavor alteration. The pork was sliced, not scrappings, well cooked, and fresh. The wonton soup was good, I've had better, but really good. The chicken low mein was good, I've had better, but it shouldn't disappoint you at all! The dumplings had a great flavor profile with a welcoming hint of ginger. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food look no further!

There was one particular time dinning here when the service was terrible, our wait time was egregiously long, and to top it off, the staff were really rude to my parents (the nicest, calmest people). That self-induced ban lasted almost 2 decades and I came back in 2022 at the invitation of my daughter's friend's family. The place was SWARMING and we had to wait for our table. There is free parking but it's limited and usually full up on the weekend. Cart service was quick but I had to go over to the dessert ones to get them to come to our table. Offerings were pretty standard and thankfully, the taste was overall pretty good. Nothing was cold, everything was steaming hot. Wish they had a few more items to select from. The restaurant space should be expanded by now since they are so popular. It's impossible to walk around with all the big tables and people squeezed together. Afterwards, I bought all the kids boba smoothies from their bar in the corner (smart thing to have apart from the dim sum). They upped their prices over the years but portions are the same. Still more affordable than Lao Sichuan in Pinecrest but not impressed with the auto 18% added to the bill (because...weekends?). Cleveland needs more dim sum options! I have dined here for dinner once upon a time as well and I remember the dishes being pretty good and authentic but those memories are from circa 1999-2000 so back in ancient times.
