Restaurant review How do you judge a fast food restaurant? By there freshness of the food, the cleanliness, and the staff. I ended up here to get a quick salad to go for lunch (trying to be healthy and the summer salads are great!). The food was definitely prepared fast and the restaurant was clean even though I was taking out the food. Staff friendliness was so so. The cashier barely looked me in the eye as I put in my order. At least they take expired jr frosty coupons which was given to me at another location as a substitute for kids toys as they ran out. The sald itself was very fresh and filled to the brim. I had no issue with the quality. I didn't even realize they gave me two packets of salad dressing. One is definitely not enough. Overall if I want Wendy's close to work i will be back maybe through the drive thru next time. I placed a mobile order through the Wendy's app for the first time, it was super simple and everything from the restaurant was accurate. "Dre" was the person who helped me when I came to the drive-through to pick up my order. He was very cheerful and very helpful and very polite. I can't say it's because of the pandemic because it had been like this foe years! Beware of Wendy's app scam! I hate to do this to any business but my husband and I were treated very rudely by the employees at the Wendy's at five points on Cunningham in Urbana. I ordered food on the Wendy's app last night and paid for it. The app said to proceed to the drive thru to pick it up. When my husband got there they said there was no order. They said he must have ordered somewhere else. I sent a screen shot of the confirmation page. It showed the location and that the order was paid. They made him go around to the order line again "so they could wait on their customers who were in line behind him." He complied came back to the window showed them the screen shot and they said well we don't have the order that means nothing to us. You need to cancel and reorder. I called the restaurant to explain that the amount of the order had been deducted from my card and it was paid as the app had showed. I was told that app has nothing to do with this store. "That app is the world." They refused to fill the order! They said if I wanted my money back I could call my bank. It has nothing to do with them. I said again it is your app and your address. That makes it your responsibility. Again that app has nothing to do with this store. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they were too busy waiting on customers to speak to me and then they hung up on me. Buyer beware. Avoid the rip-off scammers at the Urbana Wendy's. They will take you money and refuse to fill the order, which is all I asked for. I did not request a refund only the food I paid for. read more

When Winter Storm Landon had most places closing early or not even opening at all this place was open for dinner! It wasn't busy but the service was great and the food was delicious! Fast food should be fast. Hence the name. Waiting 25 minutes for a chicken sandwich is one thing, but when everyone in line is waiting on their orders just as long, you have to ask "what are they even doing?" Not too often will I review a fast food place, but I had some good service at this Wendy's tonight, well right this minute actually. Got here at 10:30pm Sunday, we wanted a couple chicken sandwiches and went through drive through. The person who took our order was nice, asked if we would like to try whatever it was that was there special they have going on. Got to the window to pay and they let us know right away it will be 6 minutes since the food will be fresh. 10 minutes later she apologizes for the delay, cook forgot to drop the spicy chicken, she gave us 2 large frostys on the House, which wasn't necessary but was very kind of them to do. I have eaten in this location twice, I have been through the drive thru at least 3 times. This is a fast food restaurant so keep that in mind when you dine here. In my experiences at this location, it is very hit or miss. The food and employees and service is either 5 stars or 1 star. For those not familiar with Wendys, they specialize in burgers, chilli and frosties. This restaurant is fairly new to this location and there was a lot of hype at first, now that it has died down a bit the service and food has gotten better. They have a very clean and open interior and they have soda machines with 100s of flavor choices. read more

This is not a full-service restaurant. That is, they do not accept reservations and they do not have table service, much less a table cloth or silver ware. The table service is best described as barely existent to non-existent. Wendy's is fashionably described as a "fast-food restaurant", which is all the rage these days. What this means is that you stand in a line (I repeat, you stand in a line), order your food, pay for it on the spot (I repeat, on the spot), and it arrives rather quickly while you move to a side and wait (yes, move to a side and wait). You then walk out with your food in a paper sack (a paper sack), get into your car, and drive away. This is all well and good, and I suppose we must all get used to the modern ways that is all the rage, and which the young seem to favor. I thought that the lack of valet parking was a serious negative. In case you arrived without your car and require a taxi, you will have to call for one. They do not have a concierge to call for a taxi. That is because they lack a concierge service. You may take the local bus to dine at Wendy's, and this is certainly worth considering if you live in Savoy or the West side of Champaign. It could take about an hour or so by bus in that case. It is worth planning in advance. But if I may add, you really do not want to be seen arriving at Wendy's in a bus. It is a serious social faux pas. Alternatively, those who live in Chicago may like to take the daily train. There are about two trains every day either way, and the tickets are not too bad. About $15-$30. You may have to stay overnight if you are visiting Wendy's from Chicago. Factor in about $60-$100 for a room. If you cannot find a hotel near Wendy's then you will need bus fare (about $1, which is reasonable) or perhaps a local limo service (variable rate). Although, as mentioned above, it is really not considered acceptable to arrive for dinner at Wendy's in a local bus. You could be socially back-balled. Civil society in Urbana can be very unforgiving of such transgresses. Be aware that Wendy's does not have a dress code. They expect you to be dressed, of course (as do other customers and the gentle city folk you run into) but you may dress informally, perhaps casually. A suit or a tuxedo is preferable but they do not complain too much about it. Women sometimes go overboard and wear a tiara. This is strictly unnecessary. In winter they lack a coat check. You may have to sit with your jacket, scarf, gloves, etc next to you, shocking though this may seem. A major irritant for this reviewer was that they refused to accept his bank as guarantee for his dinner bill. This reviewer had to actually draw his wallet out of his pocket and was subject to a sordid financial transaction. Financial instruments were touched, felt, exchanged, etc. It was all too much. Other than the above, the food is cost-effective. The calorie-to-dollar ratio was extraordinarily high. Taste enhancers do just that. They enhance the taste of the food. I wonder if this concept of "fast-food", strange, fascinating, and bizarre thought it may seem, has been tried on a mass scale. There is money to be made here. read more

The food is good. The specialty lemonades and tees are usually mixed at the proper ratios. Mistakes are fairly rare but it's worth checkin your food before you leave if using the drive through. The one major issue with this Wendy's is it's ridiculously over complicated and unnecessary parking lot and drive through layout. Not only does it result in wasted space and not enough parking spots, but the radii of the corners and lanes are far too tight for most cars to make without a 3 point turn. It's a brand new building and unfortunately will need renovation soon. Otherwise a good Wendy's with friendly staff. read more

My fiancé and I have made it a point to ALWAYS come to this location, especially since the staff is so happy and friendly. We've come at a variety of times and days and they are always on their game. This a new Wendy's, The design and atmosphere is very nice. But the service is terrible. Their workers are extremely unprofessional. When I visited I spent 15 minutes waiting to make an order and receive it as the staff clowned around and attempt to figure out what to do. My roommate on his visit had to tell one of the staff to change his gloves while preparing his meal (the same gloves he used working the cash register). Again, its a new and beautiful looking Wendy's... but service is the worst. read more
