Delicious and simple! A great combination all the time. Sure some will say it's hot dogs, burgers…read moreand chili, but it's hot dogs, burgers and chili! I didn't grow up in Sioux City but lived there for a couple of years with my husband who was born and raised there. And he's the one that introduced me to this place. You cannot beat the simple taste and just (to me) simple menu items. I mean if you're going to run a restaurant, make a couple of things really well. And that's my opinion of this place. I always get their hot dogs with chili on it, and I know I'm not a huge eater - but if I was I'd probably eat 3. LOL We went there because we had to ensure we got it in as we live a long way away. So, you know how it is, eat when you're there! The dogs are hot, the beanless chili is yummy and the buns are super soft. My husband got 2 dogs with onions and my son got his the same but with mustard. This was his first time eating there, so he said it was really good even if it was only hot dogs. He said he was truly surprised and that's what is always nice isn't it? My youngest son wasn't with us, but I wanted to make sure he got some too, so we got 2 hot dogs with chili, with onions (you wouldn't think a 14 year old would love onions, but he does) to go. He inhaled those hot dogs in a flash when I gave them for lunch. And surprisingly when we gave them to him after a bit of running around, other than a bit cold he said they weren't soggy. He said he wished he went us, cause he would've gotten 2 more. LOL So, if you like the simpler things in life, check this place out. I know a couple of locals (we also went there with my sister in law) who love this place. Not only will you like it, you'll be supporting a small business!

March 2027 Sioux City, Iowa…read more Very nice interior. Large bar in the front center that seemed to be popular with guests. A few tables wrapped around the bar. We took a table in the back of the restaurant. Simple table with black cloth napkins. No candle , no flower, just a small salt and pepper set with a few menus. The menu offers a variety from expensive seafood and steaks to sandwiches. I chose the seafood Mac and cheese. My husband had the pork chop with sweet potatoes and a side of grilled cauliflower. The other couple ordered Mediterranean pasta with shrimp instead of chicken which came with a slice of focaccia bread. His wife had the chicken margherita sandwich which came with sweet potato waffle fries. My husband said the pork chop was dry and overcooked. My seafood pasta was served warm. It looked like it sat under the heat lamp while other food was prepared. Oddly enough, my meal did not come with any bread. But the other pasta dish had focaccia bread and even the kids meal that had mac & cheese had a big chunk of bread as well. Was it an oversight? Also missing from my dish was the Panko crumbs that were to top the dish. None to be found! My pasta had really great flavor. A complaint is that every third bite I was pulling a shell out of my mouth. It's good to know that the seafood is fresh, but I should not have to bite around the shell of the seafood. Also, because it was served warm, it made it less than enjoyable. The Mediterranean pasta I was told was delicious and it looked so. A lot of sauce as well. The chicken sandwich was quite large. Although it was tough and not tasty. It came with a side of sweet potato fries, which came out after we started our meal. It was forgotten the first time around. Overall, I would give the ambience an eight. Service was good and it deserves a seven. The food however, which I think is very important when you go to dinner, would get a solid five. I think the flavor was good, but again, because the food was served cold, and the pork chop was overcooked. I would most definitely take points off.

The Korean BBQ steak had a terrific flavor but was quite gristly. We sat at the bar and received except service. The bartender was attentive but also sensitive when we were in deep conversation. She did not needlessly interrupt.

***in response to restaurant manager*** I am perfectly aware…read moreof the prices of what you call "Award winning BBQ" as I am aware of the predatory food delivery services tacking on extra fees and charges. No need to be condescending, and I guess there's no really reason for you to apologize for your sorry ass portion sizes, which you sort of admitted to. I'm not a hard guest to please, I just want what my $31 (NOT "$27.82", You don't even know your own prices on your own menu, after up charges) should be giving me product wise. All in all, your barbecue isn't all that great, it's just better than some of the other places that really suck. How dare you insult my intelligence, and sit there all smug and not even offer an apology. Not even ask me if I would consider coming back. I don't want compensation, I don't want a refund, I wanted you give me the amount of food I paid for. Maybe a little bit of grace for my decades long patronage. Your place is piss poor, and I'll never ever ever be back to another one ever again. So go ahead and wipe that grin off your face, go back to college & learn how to run a business that appeases all people, not just locals. You're so vain & tone deaf, you sit here & act like my pictures are actually going to entice people to go there. No need to "wish me luck" on my smoker. My brisket and pulled pork would blow your fast food franchise brisket and pulled pork out of the water ANY DAY. Since you want to be a smart mouth, I'm taking off another star. Original review below: I've been to a few famous Dave's here and there in my day, quite a few times. A LOT actually. So being out here in Sioux City Iowa & not really eating for the past couple days, I decided to go with a brand that I trusted. Cutting carbs, & going mainly carnivore is what I'm back to until I shed a few pounds. Been goin on a month so far. I didn't physically go to this location, I ordered off of GrubHub. But felt confident because of all the times I've frequented these across the country. I think that all changes today. I typically don't order a whole lot of barbecue, & typically 1 out of every 4 or 5 make the cut, & also because I make competition smoked meats on my Backwoods Lil Chubby G2 reverse flow competition water/wood smoker, & it's unfair for me to be a judge of a barbecue place because of my bias, & my uncanny talent in a smoke pit, but this is 1 place that I continued to go to because of consistency past. I ordered a 2 meat plate. Brisket (which was an upcharge) & jalapeno cheddar sausage. I ordered steamed broccoli, & a side Caesar salad (or their version of it) for a $2.50 up charge. The brisket wasn't actually bad at all, it's a lot better than a lot of other places I've eaten, but seriously, 4 slices? The sausage was fine. Normal big size sausage. I can't wrap my head around how you're charging me an extra 2.50 for a side Caesar salad, that is literally just What looks like McDonald's shredded lettuce, compared to the cost of what your beans, mac n cheese & other side dishes cost. I ordered the most cost-effective and profitable meal for you guys to make. I get it, times are hard right now for some, but this is really insulting. Including the tip for my driver of $7, this whole meal came to $41 & some change. The amount of food that I just got, comes in WAY below The typical 30% restaurant food cost. I probably got MAYBE $4 worth of meat & that's being generous. Looking at pictures of the brisket sandwich, it looks like the sandwich comes with twice as much meat so that also has me perplexed. Broccoli don't cost nothing. Shredded lettuce don't cost nothing. Since I'm cutting carbs, I only took one little nibble of the cornbread and threw it in the trash. Along with the other slice of bread that was on underneath my insult of brisket slices. The cornbread was actually really good. Too bad I can't eat it. I'm pulling a star, because your workers didn't pay attention when I asked for utensils & napkins. So I had to march my butt up to the truck stop while my food sat and got colder to get forks & napkins. What once was a reputable brand, a staple, a barbecue joint I had faith in, has now been cast away in the file with all of the other lackluster BBQ joints out there. I honestly can't see myself ever coming here, or to any other one, ever again. Read my review of Pops Place BBQ joint in Alabama. Look at my pictures, and see what $40 got me over there! LITERALLY 5X THE AMOUNT OF FOOD. I had enough food left over to last me 2 days after, & after eating this crap from famous Dave's, I am actually still really hungry. I am very very disappointed at Famous Daves. Do better. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149.
