Panera Bread is poppin' in Sioux City on a Sunday. There is apparently a 5 minute parking spot you can take advantage of if you pre-order. My stepdad is the type that gives zero...well you know, and so we took that spot upon arrival. The line at 10:50am on a Sunday was much longer than expected. The wait in the line was about 8/10 minutes. We ordered a latte with almond milk, mocha, asiago bagel uncut and a blueberry muffin. My stepdad used his rewards card ( which he says my mother riddles his keychain with them). My stepdad's bagel was literally the smallest bagel they had (my mom may have warned them that he's on an eternal diet ) since it was comically little for his size. My blueberry muffin was good, fluffy, with well-distributed blueberries though nothing crazy. About 5 minutes later they called out "Debbie" a few times from the counter where you pick up your order. Just an FYI, whoever's name is on the reward card...regardless if a 6'2" mildly intimidating man placed the order and may obviously not be "Debbie"...they will call it. We scooped up our drinks. They were good, not the best mochas in the world but good. The drink and condiment station was clean as was the rest of the store. I'm not a huge Panera person, but this place fit the bill for a morning mocha and muffin though maybe pass on the 5 minute parking spot if you're coming around this hour.

Such a Happy Meal and I don't mean McDonalds. The Squash soup here is excellent! Just like my mom used to like cause she never made it. The Avocado is a perfect companion to the Chipotle Chicken sandwich. Perfect to eat by their fireplace as it snows outside.

Pick 2: Chicken Caesar salad and Bacon Turkey Bravo.

I fell in love with Panera Bread in college and was so happy when Sioux City got their Hamilton location. I sadly didn't go much because it was so far away for me, but now that a second location opened in the Lakeport Commons, yay! I LOVE it here! Everything is always good and this place is clean and so comfortable. I could have every meal here. I come alone a lot and don't feel 'weird' doing so. The only downside is that it's always so busy!

Nothing like warm soup and stale bread. The salad was also watery and bland salad. Thumbs down

I used to love Panera but they just recently just got rid of my favorite sandwich the ham and Swiss.

I'm going to stretch out and give this place the 5th star! I typically try to stay away from…read morerestaurants that have a denomination before a family member, because they're usually a train wreck. Like "5 Guys" (which is absolute garbage, and I have no idea how this place stays in business, because I've never seen a single one of these have any customers inside) But I'm digressing, and I'm glad I gave this place a shot! I walked over here, and I walked through the patio dining area, through the patio entrance/exit, not realizing that the main exit was just around the corner of the building but I made it in anyhow. The kid up front was super nice, and asked me where I wanted to sit and I chose the bar, naturally! This place is super clean, even the bathrooms, so that was really nice. A bunch of TVs, and I think I even saw signage for live music on Fridays? But it's a pretty big venue, and they even have their own private dining room for private parties, at least I'm guessing. My bartender, was a spitting image of a woman I know in the town where I live, in the Eastern Sierra mountains. I literally had to double take and triple take to make sure it wasn't her. But unlike the lady I know, this bartender was nothing short of excellent! One star goes for the knowledgeable bartender, and the successful owner knowing that 'extra lime' means WEDGES, not WHEELS. It wasn't too busy in there, but she was really attentive to the bar patrons, and was on top of her game. Everybody sitting at the bar area, were so nice to one another, we were all talking and I ended up meeting this really nice, older gentleman that I chit-chatted with up until he left. I love the fact that the people here are so open and comfortable with one another and can engage in friendly banter. So that being said, my bartender constantly kept an eye on me and never interrupted my conversations when she wanted to offer me another drink or to order supper. She always timed it perfectly right! I'm on a no carb kick, so I ordered the smothered pork chops, with steamed broccoli and asparagus. Man, was it good. Those asparagus were popped down over an open flame and roasted, and even though very simple and basic, some of the best asparagus I've had at a restaurant ever. My whole trip was very enjoyable, and it looks like I'll be here in Sioux City for a few more days at least, so I will probably poke my head in there, this weekend! I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND YOU TRY THIS PLACE. I eat all over the country, from fine dining, to little holes in the wall in the deep south. This right here is a sure bet! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. This time, not even the homemade complimentary kettle chips were good. They were mostly broken, pretty stale, and basically tasteless. This is too bad, because it's usually a draw. The margarita was the worst I've had in my life. The server misunderstood our request for a second round and brought me another, so I had to have two of them. The service is another sour note: we had to flag her down throughout the visit. One time she was unavailable and someone unkempt and lackadaisical visited our table in her stead. One of us got the Cuban and he said it was good. He is used to having legit Cuban sandwiches, so he probably is on to something there. Unfortunately, the rest of us ordered based on a photo advertisement of theirs they have posted up inside the restaurant. That was false advertising if I've ever seen it. The prime rib wasn't just not good, it was revolting. The only good thing was the baked potato. After dinner, we went out to the patio for some mediocre live music and a different server who was actually rude. Once a year is looking more like never again.

It was one old lady working there who i assumed is the owner and no customers besides me and my dad, she was very nice but the way she looked at us when we walked in was as though she was saying in her head "are you sure you want to eat here?" which was my first red flag, not to mention the fact that the place was a total ghost town and didnt smell like there had been food cooked there on a regular basis in a long time. the restaurant had a very grandmas house type ambiance and many antiques on display which was nice but the food was certainly not made with love as it would be at grandmas house, in fact all the food was frozen and microwaved. Never once while i was waiting for my food did i hear the sound of frying or even smell anything cooking, all i could hear was the microwave beeping and the door opening and closing many times which was definitely another red flag. My suspicions were confirmed when the burger i got came to the table and the bun was store bought, the patty i could tell was frozen and had a weird flavor to it, the lettuce and onions tasted unwashed, and even the fries were microwaved and tasted freezer burnt. it also came with a packet of mustard and a packet of mayo like as if it was school lunch. My dad ordered the biscuits and gravy and he said the gravy was flavorless and the sausage was rubbery. We both got coffee and the coffee didnt have any flavor at all. At our table there were various old photos that told a sad story of what looked to be an establishment that was once booming in its hay day but now the passion has been lost. i hate to make this review because i feel bad for the owner but people deserve the truth and the truth is that i paid full price for an inedible meal and no one else should have to be misled by the good reviews for this place like i was. i couldve just gone to culvers and gotten a good burger for the same price as i paid for an inedible one.

When you walk through the door, there is a long, 1940's style soda fountain counter right in front of you. Wooden booths flank the two windows, and the remainder of the space is taken up by tables and chairs. A gift shop is off to the right. They go all out for holidays and a Halloween animatronic greeted us when we entered (this is written in October.) While deciding what to order, sodas were accompanied by ice cold frosted mugs. Menu is small and they were out of a couple of items. The food is ok, but there were two issues which resulted in the four stars, instead of five. 1.) The grilled cheese sandwich was grilled in grease that left an odd taste. Not enough to deter eating it, but definitely noticeable. 2.) The chicken salad tasted like it was made with a cheap sandwich dressing, not mayonnaise - a little bit disappointing. Service was quick and super friendly. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely worth a repeat visit if only to see the seasonal decorations. By the way, you can only pay by cash or check. No credit cards accepted.
