Server didn't mention the daily specials and only after I noticed someone else (obviously a regular) order a different size draught and I asked was I informed they had a drink special. Posted on a sign way at the other end of the bar. So my drinks ended up costing me double what they could have. I felt ripped off. Ok, maybe I should have asked...but more importantly, the server could have easily mentioned they had a special. Either poorly trained or an obvious attempt at a bigger bill and therefore a bigger tip .. Rating would be 5 star and tip would have been way better if I didn't feel cheated.

Much of the rest is quiet dining. There's a large party partially closed dining room, an elevated bar area, and a large dining area. My favorite is "apps and taps" on a Thursday or Friday evening. There are specials most days of the week. Service is always fast and friendly, and the food is reasonably priced and prepared well.

What boggled my mind here was the waitress that didn't really understand her job or her menu. She asked me how I would like the wings done and I noticed on menu it said "fried or grilled" and "dusted or naked" so i instinctively said "what are my options?" And she looked at me like i was dumb and rudely asked "uh...there's like a thousand different sauces". Her question wasn't what sauce, it was how i would like it done. Anyway, I picked my sauce and then pointed at the menu where it said "Add $1.98 for two sauces" and asked if I could get another sauce like it says here. She goes "no its only 1 sauce per pound" so I said "oh i know but cant i add another for 2 bucks like it says here?" And she goes "no we dont do that." Hopefully this makes you understand my 2 star review despite the wings being decent. For me, service always reigns supreme when eating out...after all isn't that what we are paying for when we choose to sit at the table of a restaurant?

The employees do a good job assembling the subs ... and are pleasant enough. Not sure what else to expect - when I want a sub sandwich, this place does a great job! I've eaten at Mr. Submarine stores all over Canada, this one has never disappointed me if all Im expecting is a Mr. Submarine sub. Same goes for the other store Dennis owns in the mall. Both are good quality, fresh ingredients and clean. I'm actually fairly puzzled and a little shocked by the asinine, ignorant comments I read in the other review about the servers. I can't imagine how horrified and hurt the employees would be if they read that review. How does he get away with that kind of hateful crap on Yelp?

The location in North Bay is also dingy and dirty. Absolute last resort. It doesn't deserve to share Algonquin Ave with the delicious delicious Submarine Place north-bound from here.
