Would have been a perfect experience except...sat at the bar since I was by myself and it was busy. Ordered a draught beer and was served promptly. Had another with my meal. Server didn't mention the daily specials and only after I noticed someone else (obviously a regular) order a different size draught and I asked was I informed they had a drink special. Posted on a sign way at the other end of the bar. So my drinks ended up costing me double what they could have. I felt ripped off. Ok, maybe I should have asked...but more importantly, the server could have easily mentioned they had a special. Either poorly trained or an obvious attempt at a bigger bill and therefore a bigger tip .. Rating would be 5 star and tip would have been way better if I didn't feel cheated. read more

We needed a kid friendly stop along our road trip. East Side Mario's was perfect for this. Bonus, it was a Tuesday so our kiddo ate for $2. They tucked us away in a corner as we requested so the wheelchair wouldn't be in the way of anyone. Ordered salad, pasta and drinks. Everything tasted great. Service was awesome. We walked from our hotel to the restaurant. We had the pesto pizza and ordered the unlimited sides for $5.99. Great deal! She allowed us to each have Caesar salad and bread and ate our pizza. Great service and good portions... excellent value for the meal. read more

Had a birthday party there a couple days ago and our waitress was so kind, tried the cheesy bowtie Alfredo and it was delicious! the rustic Italian decorations make the place so pretty. Took the kids out for dinner recently. The overall experience was great. We order the feta bruschetta as an appetizer. It was served hot and it tasted delicious. The kids ordered a special drink from the kids drink menu. To my surprise, the price was very affordable. And kids absolutely loved them. I ordered the shrimp campi. Also a delicious dish. I have always had a great experience here. Lots of food, amazing staff, especially the speed of their kitchen which is impressive, and great value. The only exception is desserts are expensive, but you can get deals with combos especially on designated date nights and some holidays. There might be a wait at this location because it is a very popular spot in West Ferris. It can be a bit loud at times, but it is family friendly and family fun. If you want to be surrounded by fun, friendly, happy people and great food, this is your spot. read more

If I could rate zero I would. Ordered off of door dash and took well over an hour to deliver (I know this isn't east sides fault.) asked for extra Parmesan cheese and didn't receive it. And the salad the came with my meal was horrible. They gave me the core! And most of the lettuce was browning and disgusting. Couldn't eat my salad. Pasta was ok. I know most people would give this place four or even five stars but in my opinion it's just okay. I've been here countless times and the menu is honestly just boring. It's all the same options every time you go. Nothing new. Nothing special. I understand the whole New York/Italian style theme they are going for but it's just lame for people like me who get caught in a group of people who want to go there. Also, I should note the bartenders at this location are absolutely terrible in terms of their customer service and the quality of their drinks. The service from the waitresses has always been pretty good though. And the atmosphere is always interesting and can keep some stuck in the boringest of engagements entertained. If your a bit New York style Italian food fan then hit it up. It's a chain so you will likely be able to find one in whatever city you reside. read more

Just back from eating here....4 adults and 2 children that didn't eat as we had just come from the Northern Tykes indoor playground which BTW was excellent. I personally have never eaten East Side Mario's before but I assumed it would be like a Red Lobster or any of the other medium-quality chains in the area. My first impression was unfortunately bad. Drab, barren and colourless inside and the 'decor' was reminiscent of a school cafeteria. As well as very cold ( the kids both wore their outdoor jackets the whole time). The waitress was friendly when she sat us but from then on we had to ask twice for everything. One bun was provided and it took us 2 requests and 15 minutes to get another one....keep in mind we are 6 people even if the kids didn't eat, they still munched on a bun bit Another 20 minutes and apparently the 'chef' had to prepare another one which entailed another 20 minute wait and 2 more requests. It arrived 15 minutes after 1 side had been delivered. The salads ( which 2 of us ordered ) were lacking both ingredients and flavour and there was next to no dressing on the Caesar salad. The Canadian pizza was so bland that I would have much preferred if the chef had cooked a $4.00 Rising Crust one from No Frills. It would undoubtedly have been both faster and tastier. Keep in mind that we went at 3:00 in the afternoon and the restaurant was less than 1/2 full. All in all it was a TERRIBLE experience and I will NOT be going back there. If this is how the franchise presents itself, I will also not be going to one of their restaurants anywhere where we travel as well. NOT RECOMMENDED. read more

Full disclosure, I have been to a few in the Toronto area with mostly very poor results and had sworn them off for the rest of my days or the franchise's demise --whatever comes first. I often found they were too loud, too cramped, and about as terrible as could get for any type of atmosphere. That is until I moved to North Bay. My wife had a hankering for an endless supply of salad and bread, so she suggested it. I went along being a good sport... and I'm glad I did. Now we've gone a few times with mixed results, mostly ranging from adequate to great. The service is pretty good, especially considering servers would have to keep up with the demands of an AYCE bread and salad for every table in their section. If you're looking for a cheap bite, that is average to above average in chain restaurant food quality, this particular location has it. The only reason I'm taking a star off is because once my wife and I went during a stupid busy dinner rush and got stuck in that stupid tiny table near the back takeout/delivery door. Our service kinda sucked that night as it felt we were kinda neglected. The food was okay that day, but that table plain sucks --straight up. It seems this location (like many other franchises in North Bay) is noticably about 2/3 the size -- maybe that's why they execute it better than their counterparts elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed in the lack of service here. Tried bringing my fiancée here for a nice date night dinner and waited to get some service. We patiently waited while they took care of their customers who came before us until there was no one left. We waited by ourselves for about 5 minutes and the servers had made eye contact with us and knew we were there and waiting. When a few other visible non-minority couples show up the servers immediately serve them first oppose to serve the minority whose been patiently waiting. read more

Good old ESM! Usually very consistent? Tonight I took the wife and kids out and we had a bad meal? The kids meals were okay but our pasta dishes were under cooked and it was barely warm when we got it. We turned them back in and the manager was great! I have found that it is hit and miss with this restaurant; it is hit and miss with any ESM that I have gone to. I think the food all comes in premade and frozen at least that is what it tastes like, not that it is a bad thing but for the price well maybe it is a bad thing. I love the all you can eat salad and bread, so I typically fill up on that and take my entrée home. The funnel cake is yummie as long as it isn't over deep-fried. The North Bay ESM needs to be cleaned up, the floors look old, the benches are all ripped and the window ledges haven't been cleaned in years... it makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. The servers are friendly so you want to cheer for them... but if you don't have any expectations, and are on that side of town or going to the movies and don't have any other place in mind, I guess why not go... read more

Went to your restaurant after driving all day. Completely exhausted. Thought it would be nice to have a drink at the bar while I waited for my take out. Order spaghetti and marinara sauce. Bartender put it in as spaghetti and meatballs. When I got my bill I pointed out that I only ordered spaghetti and marinara. That I do not eat meat. The male bartender went back and apparently explained to the cooks. I went to pay and asked for a new bill as I was charged for meatballs. The male bartender said it was the same price. I thought that was odd but the female bartender backed him up. So I trusted them. When my food was finally ready they made it with meatballs. I'm not 100% sure but when I watched it looked like they just took the meatballs out. When I got back to my hotel room I checked the online menu. Low and behold, spaghetti and meatballs was $4 more expensive. It's not as much about the money, but the fact that both servers lied to my face. Very disappointed as I've been visiting this establishment for 18 years, every other month when I come in for business. Sadly, now I'll never trust the service here. Being lied to is the worse feeling. Especially when you're trusting these people with food! read more

Avoid!!! The last time I went to this location I ordered a vegetarian pizza. When my order arrived there was pepperoni hidden underneath the toppings. Unfortunately, I consumed some of the pizza before noticing the mistake. When I complained to the manager he simply shrugged his shoulders and said that he would take it off my bill. Food has always been good and with an established franchise you pretty much know what to expect. Far and above - this is a great spot for a pint; in my experience the staff have always been super friendly and there is a lot of community involvement as well. I see ESM contributing to a lot of charity events each year, which is much needed in this area. read more

We were pleased with our meal tonight, but unfortunately our server was not efficient. Realizing that she had forgotten to offer us grated cheese for our salad, she fetched the grater, set dirty dishes from a table she had just cleared in my husband's spot and proceeded to grate cheese into our salad.
