She had already sliced it for us, and when I opened it up, you could see the buttery pockets where it melted into the dough while baking. It wasn't ultra-layered and flaky like a laminated biscuit, but it was perfectly soft on the inside with a beautiful crunch on the outside. The flavor was spot on!!! Soft, warm, buttery and comforting. We added a little jam, though honestly it didn't even need butter. It was that good.
