You might drive across town at 7am( during business hours), only to pull up to the drive through with no lights and no one actually working the kitchen. I'm not blaming the inconvenience on staffing issues either. Wendy's (Albert Lea)has failed to be transparent about any closures or hours s of operation changes. So bad in so many ways. A group of 4 of us stopped for a 'quick' bite to eat on a road trip. We should have known by the dejected people standing around there waiting for food that there would be issues, but we forged ahead. We placed our order and were then told they were only accepting cash. Well...OK. It's not that expensive, so we were able to scrape it together with everyone chipping in. Oh, but they ran short of ones, so we had to wait a bit for our change. Turned out waiting for that wasn't an issue, as our food took about 10-12 minutes to come out. Oh, no forks for the salads, so I go to the self-service counter and grab the last 3 sets of forks. There were at least 9 employees working...well...there. Oh, and one was napping in the dining area. We sit down and dive in, and two of us with the Southwest Salad see we have plain ranch dressing. I head up to the counter and the lady there says, 'they should have told you that's all we have; we're getting rid of that salad soon'. Grrr...this is not getting better. We were on a pilgrimage up North, to Minneapolis, to watch Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes. Three hours in, we needed sustenance. We wanted something not too far out or the way and decided Wendy's fit the bill! This location is open 6A-12A daily. It's available for carryout, dine-in and delivery. It boasts mobile ordering, mobile payment and wifi. The service was slow (but kind, professional) and while it took forever to get our order it came out piping hot and 100% correct. I'm not over exaggerating when I say-- I had the best darn spicy chicken sando of my life in Albert Lea. It was cooked to perfection, a massive piece of chicken and had the perfect amount of spice. *Chefs kiss* (I consider myself a spicy chicken connoisseur of sorts-- this did not disappoint.) My only knocks is of course how long it took to get it, but again, it's totally made to order. No big deal. But also that there were no ketchup packets available to-go. This Wendy's is located at the Love's Truck Stop off I-35 in Albert Lea. I was driving up from Ames (starting at 6:45 AM) and had already enjoyed a cup of coffee from the local freeway Kum&Go, along with a leftover scone from Baker and Spice in Portland. But once down the road a bit, a breakfast sandwich and OJ was calling my name. So after an easy exit off the freeway, bearing right and then with a left turn, I had arrived at Love's/Wendy's (which share inner access). One guy looked like he was doing it all (front counter, drive through, food prep). He was running around with a smile, and my choices were out fairly quickly. So, even though this place is fast food meeting franchise expectation, I'll give 4 stars for the guy's extra effort and good attitude. read more

Employees were very nice and hard workers getting the customers orders out and I definitely appreciate them for that, I like Wendy's for their option in lemonade drink's especially with summer approaching soon. read more

Someday Wendy's, I don't know when, we'll get to that rest stop where we really wanna go and we'll walk in the sun... Well he can't have been talking about this Wendy's in Albert Lea because even when it's sunny it's freezing. Siberia, anyone? Located on the west side which is the southbound side of the Interstate 35 in southern Minnesota right alongside the I-35 at the Pilot truck stop which is one of the better rest stops in the area although it's right across the highway from one of my favourites which is the Petro truck stop. Anyway if you want some burgers and chili and whatever then this is a good place to stop, just understand everything you order here will probably be awful. Granted it's better here than a lot of the Wendy's and they actually seem to care, and the food actually comes out hot sometimes but that doesn't make it good in fact it's some of the worst crap I've ever had and if I had to pick like the worst fast-food restaurant of all the bad fast food restaurants this would be my choice as the worst of the worst of the worst of the worst of the worst. I will never eat here again after my experience tonight with the staff on tonight. Rude and disrespectful towards me when I asked for my chocolate frosty she stated to me rather rudely "We don't even have chocolate" didn't offer me a refund and was going to give me the berry frosty. I said if I wanted that I would've put the order for that one. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was alot of tension and uncleanliness. This is NOT the first time that I have had horrible experience with this young lady. And she was even told by the MOD tonight to stop and she continued. So, I never go to Wendy's because they have terrible service and very expensive food. But, I had some points to use for a free frosty so I ordered that at the speaker. (Right off the bat the lady was snotty) My app wouldn't work and the lady took my phone for a few minutes which was sketchy & was scared she was going to steal my phone. Slow service, food doesn't seem fresh, and the workers don't seem to care about their jobs or customers. If you enjoy spending 15 minutes in the drive through or watching employees talk to each other and joke loudly and inappropriately while you wait than you will love it here. read more

If I could rate zero I would. Went there today for supper busy time. The guy taking my order was so damn rude. He made it known thru his attitude he wasn't having a good day and customer service was out the window. He kept on yelling to me "is that it" when I was ordering and was getting annoyed because I had a few combo orders. Then I tried correcting him on one of the orders and I got even more attitude. I finally told him if he didn't feel like working what he was even f*** there for. This place is a joke so is management. Went across to McD's no issues there. They were busy but at least had their chit together and were friendly. People at Wendy's are nasty just how they look too, nasty night crew. Not very smart either. I don't know if I can give any fast-food stars, but out of travel desperation my kids and I stopped to use the restroom and realized we were FAMISHED, so we ordered. The deal was, though that the bathrooms and the restroom had just gotten SLAMMED by a traveling school or church group or something like that with lots of adolescent kids and their parents. The line to the women's room was out into the Love's Truck Stop. It was crazy. But though the Wendy's looked like a tornado has just whipped through (one had), we were greeted pleasantly and courteously. Our order was taken promptly and with humor, we were asked what we wanted for sides/ condiments/ drinks, etc. -- all while Demetrius, the cashier taking our order ALSO praised the crew who had just delivered orders for at least 40 people all at once right before us.
