8/25/21 I was looking for some lunch after I dropped a trailer down the road . I was actually headed to a Chinese restaurant nearby when The Taco King caught my eye so I decided to check them out . The cashier was friendly and my to-go order was ready in just a few minutes . I went with the chicken tacos (Arizona Style) and was not disappointed ! Everything tasted fresh and the chicken had a great flavor to it . Along with the nachos and cheese side , It was a good lunch that hit the spot ! I will be back to The Taco King when I'm back in Albert Lea - I'm thinking maybe Enchiladas next time . . read more

A nice find in southern Minnesota! Traveling back from Iowa for work I had a craving for some Mexican and didn't want the typical Qdoba or taco johns! Saw this place on yelp and thought what the heck! Not a bad inside and very casual. Plenty of seating and some TVs as well which was nice! Greeted right away by the manager or owner and when he realized it was my first time he showed me the wall with all the menu items and pictures! Totally helpful! Food quality was fast and delicious! Solid meal and very solid price! Everything tasted fresh and the toppings bar was a nice add with jalapeños and sauces! I got the one enchilada and two tacos combo and definitely went away with a full belly! Will definitely stop here again! Found this place based on Yelp, seeking an alternative to Taco Johns. Very surprised to find this diamond in the rough. I will start with the drive through. The menu is just a list that does not say what is in the dishes, but we cross referenced photos on Yelp and asked. The food was ready surprisingly quickly. We each got different burritos - Slicy El Mexicana with shredded chicken for me, the Deluxe with ground beef and California with shredded beef for my wife and daughter. Burritos were large and covered in sauce and light cheese. Sides were reformed beans and rice.even my rice was spicy and my nose started running (a good thing). Nice burn. We all give the food five stars. We sat in the social distanced outside table on the side of the drive through, separate from the other tables. It is completely shaded and has a fountain full of yellow rubber duckys. Great vibe. Loved it. I got a peak of the inside and was surprised people were eating in and not using the outdoor tables. Maybe it was the heat, but with the pandemic, deal with it. It is a great find and very close to the 35. Highly recommend. read more

A friend and u were returning from Iowa I remembered that Taco King was on the way to Mpls/St.Paul so we stopped in. We were not disappointed. First time stopping in Albert Lea to eat. Stopped in for some tacos to go. They menu offers quite a bit of options. Wish they had a taco only menu. The restaurant appeared to be clean and well taken care off. The gal working the counter was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the toppings bar at the counter. Wish more places had this. My taco were very tasty and had a good amount of meat. I wasn't sure how to rate this. My tacos were very good with fast service. However, the prices are too steep. I had two tacos that are on the small side and a can of soda. It was over $8.00. The other prices seemed high for what you got. Overall is was good but wouldn't make this a regular stop for lunch do to the prices. read more

Dropped in for a quick meal with a small group of people on a Friday night. Even though it was busy, the service was great and our food came out quickly. Taco King is fast casual, so you order at the counter and they bring you your food to your table. They have a great selection of beer and soft drinks as well. Traveling with two other couples (6adults total) we decided on Taco King for a take out dinner on the road. Called first and asked if a menu was available. Received a copy via text message in 3 minutes. Placed the order over the phone and drove through the take out window 7 minutes later. Pricing seems a little outrageous.. I order a a 2 borders meal which is 2 small burritos rice beans. And a large plan beef cheese nacho. And got a side of pico and hoot sauce which is about a table spoon worth of each. I split the meal with my child thinkin I'd save money.. but the total bill was $31.00 pretty expensive takeout for average fast Mexican food.. they don't tell you but it must cost 2$ for sides of hot sauce ,pico or cilantro.. this a small town restaurant with big city pricing . Had the shredded chicken supreme burrito. The chicken and rice were seasoned perfectly and so flavorful! There are many additional toppings you can add on your own sitting on the counter. One of the family members greeted me at the door, helped me pick out some dinner and had the best tacos I've had in a long time. Tacos al carbon was the choice. It wasn't cheap steak, no gristle at all and had lots of flavor. I got the green hot sauce on the side which was homemade and the best I've ever had. It's spicy yet has flavor as well. I'd have bought a few bottles to take home if I could. I usually pass on rice and beans, but cleaned my plate here. Couldn't have been happier with my experience or my meal. A small whole in the wall Mexican restaurant turned out to be a delicious dining experience. Our family was traveling home from Christmas in terrible weather conditions. Food and some rest was much needed. To our delight we found the taco king. Greeted by the most friendly staff and exceptionally cleaned restaurant, the smell of the wonderful Mexican cuisine enticed our appetite. The lady taking the orders was very rude and unprofessional. They charged me three extra dollars for rice and beans when it doesn't even say that it cost anything at all and they didn't mention it had a cost when they asked if we wanted it. They charged a dollar for a tiny packet of sour cream and didn't tell us that it was a dollar until after we payed same thing with the hot sauce. Food wasn't that good would've rather went to dang Costco. Food was in the smallest portions possible and below the quesdilla's it said comes with cheese nachos and of course it didn't. Went to complain and they said it was only for the supreme but the supreme wasn't by we're it said comes with nachos. Terrible will never come back should've gone to Walmart and get animals crackers would've been better and a hell of a lot cheaper. read more
