My step dad was very excited to go here, specifically just for their whiting fish. I saw that mac and cheese was on the menu, so I thought it would be a safe bet. Wait time wasn't long for the food, maybe 10 min. My Mac looked pretty, but was some of the less good Mac I've had. The noodles were undercooked, chicken was overcooked. Not very good portions. I wasn't too impressed with my mac at all. Would not get again. My mom hated the soup, it was way too thick, was more of a chowder type base. She only took a few bites of it. Tender ciabatta for the BLT. It was a chilly rainy day so the two soups were sold out. Another trip we will try the homemade soups! Great atmosphere and excellent decor with exposed brick. This place is a pub? I havent been there in person yet due to the current crisis, but I did order delivery. I was served one of the best Cuban sandwiches(panini) that I can remember. The six cheese mac-n-cheese was incredible, and I even got a slab of cheesecake. DELIVERED! DURING A PANDEMIC, AND A PRETTY CRAPPY RAIN STORM! Kudos guys. I work on the road a lot and enjoy sampling local foods.(I can get McDonald's anywhere). I've been in this town for months and this may be the best place I've found to eat. Stopped by this place while traveling back to FL on a recommendation from a friend. While the food was tasty I have to say the portions were the smallest I have ever seen outside a Tapas restaurant. In fact I asked if I had been given the right dish because I couldn't see any pasta in my bowl. Although nice, server did not offer to refill drinks even though we were the only ones in the place. When I mentioned my surprise at the portion size the server agreed with me and said they were also surprised but did not offer to do anything. Stopped here on our way down to Iowa and so glad we did! This is a nice place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and a small, but delicious menu. We started with the Giant Pretzel with cheese dip which was truly delicious and earned the title of "Giant"!! So soft and chewy, and the cheese dip was flavorful and creamy. We all had the BLT special which came on a bun, with a bowl of wild rice soup, and we got a side of Garlic-Jalapeno coleslaw on the side. The sandwiches were tasty (but would have liked a slice more bacon), and the wild rice soup was very tasty, and was rich and thick with good flavor. The coleslaw was also good and with the price point of a $1 for the small side it was a pretty good value as well. I honestly didnt really taste much garlic or any jalapeno in it, but it was crispy and had just the right amount of dressing. We also had some adult beverages and I managed to put down two Bloody Mary's with beer chasers because one just wasn't enough (and I wasn't driving either), and my husband and friends had beverages that they stated were well-made as well. We all agreed that we really liked this place. It had a cozy feel in it's little place on the small town Main Street area, was welcoming and a great place to sit and enjoy a nice meal or drinks with friends or family. 112 catered my post-wedding party. It was a pleasure to work with Steve Anderson of the 112 - there are a lot of details for this kinda thing, my first - and the food and staff were great. We had a bartender from the 112 serve beer and wine as well as people to handle the food. Steve had access to most any MN beer you could want, craft breweries included. Others too I'm sure but I wanted MN beer. We held it at The Marketing Plant in downtown AL, I can also highly recommend the venue and the staff for events like this. read more

Very nice place. Great downtown atmosphere with great friendly service. Full bar and a wide selection of beers on tap. I always like to try some local brews. My panini beef sandwich was very good. I would have liked to have a little more horseradish I couldn't taste any but it was still very good. Our jerk wings were large and meaty but seemed steamed or wet? Good flavor just odd texture. Great beer, wonderful service, laid back atmosphere with a fun crowd. I don't favor strong beers, but this joint has a few from 10-15%, and the samples I had were enticing. I especially liked a bottled beer I haven't found elsewhere, kudos to 112 for carrying odd krafty choices. (Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Coffee Stout - YUM!) This is quite possibly the worst food I've had in a long time and undoubtedly the worst food from a restaurant that had 4 stars on Yelp! I had the chips and cheese dip as an app and the "special" which was beef barley soup. The cheese dip was a take on Mexican white cheese sauce and it was terrible. It came out Luke warm and super salty. Add insult to injury,they served it with quite possibly the saltiest store bought tortilla chips! Wowza, truly very hard to choke down. More water please!! Absolutely famished I trudge on. The beef barley soup and ham&cheese sandwich come out continuing the misery. The soup tasted like someone had put a cigarette out in the soup! No joke. The ham and cheese sandwich was also luke warm and bland as hell. I could go on but I'm exhausted. Terrible. read more

I had an out of town guest for lunch today and thought we would try the 112. If there hadn't been a couple sitting at the tables outside I would have thought they were closed on Sundays. The hours on the outside of the building do not mention Sunday at all. We seated ourselves and were soon greeted by a woman who asked us. "What can I get you." I had expected her to bring menus or ask us what we wanted to drink. I wasn't sure if she was taking a drink order or a food order. After she left to fetch our drinks I noticed one beat up, photocopied, tri-fold menu. It was about the size of the napkins in the table-top napkin box. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad and my companion ordered a Roast Beef Slider. Our food arrived in a timely fashion and my salad was quite tasty. My companion said his Slider was okay. I did need to go to the bar for a drink refill as the wait staff neglected to notice my empty drink when the food was delivered. All in all a pretty good showing for the 112. I'll be back. read more

Ordered the Beef and Bleu Wrap for lunch today. Service was fast as our food arrived quickly but sadly our water glasses sat empty without an offer to refill. The wrap was very yummy and it came with kettle chips and a pickle spear. My friend ordered the Southwest Salad which was good sized and the ingredients looked fresh and tasty. Prices seemed very reasonable. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place. Many of the features had old character yet it was clean and modern. It's got a nice location downtown. read more

I have eaten here twice now, and twice I have been disappointed. The first time that we ate here the food was better than the last, but the service is just sooooooo terrible. They do not have servers on during the day, even on the weekends, so whenever we were there it was the bartender covering the entire bar and restaurant. There were other employees that appeared to be hanging around the place, but they were very obviously not working. The food is pretty meh from the last experience that I had. The desserts are dry and obviously thawed freezer fare. The wrap that I got was supposed to be a steak and bleu wrap and it was basically just cold bits of shredded meat, tons of lettuce and horseraddish, and then a few crumbles of bleu cheese. When we started eating there was no silverware on our table, and it took the gentleman behind the bar over 15 minutes to even acknowledge, so needless to say we were not checked in on to see how the food was, or we would have been very honest about the disappointment. The only person who enjoyed the food was my sister and she had the French Onion soup, which comes from a bag I am sure so that is impossible to screw up. It's such a shame that such a nice looking place has issues with food quality, and a lack of customer service. read more

When you drive the streets of Albert Lea in the rain, you might feel like the apocalypse has already come and gone, and that there are survivors in some of the rundown masonry buildings. The best you were hoping to find is some greasy pizza or maybe a burger on a bleached bun, and you run across the street towards the lights of the 112 On Broadway next door to Taco King. And oh how your tune changes. The decor is oak, which fits the historic vibe of the town, and the former bakery space has high copper or tin ceilings, long since painted white but still intricate. The bartender is eloquent and good at his job, and they have a great liquor bar with a number of organic bases, and six or seven draughts, though half of them are domestic corn beer. This is the midwest. When I told the barman it was my first visit, he poured me a shot of whiskey to welcome me. Twice. Much appreciated. The food is fresh and not greasy. I got the cubano sandwich, which they do as a panini, and was pretty stoked. The lack of fryer is a good thing, because it pushes the kitchen to come up with some interesting sides and appetizers instead of relying on a boring standard. I'm told they're working on a wine list, and that some local bands have been playing from time to time, both of which support my opinion that this is the fastest rising option in historic downtown Albert Lea. Tuesday night, by the way, is Ladies' Night. read more

This is one of the worst places I've ever been. If you're just looking for a bar that serves something other then frozen pizzas, come here. If you're looking for a place that actually serves good food, DO NOT COME HERE! My mom & I both spent $3 each for $10 gift certificates for this place & still felt ripped off with what we got. The bruschetta was 5 of the tiniest rock hard pieces of bread with diced rotten tomatoes (literally). The chicken sandwich was hard, dry & tasted like the smell of a band aid. The "sliders" were a joke in the fact that you only get 1. How exactly does a person order 1 "sliders". By definition there must be more then 1 for you to use an S at the end. So... for those who want good food, good prices & reasonable size portions while enjoying a bar atmosphere, go to the Green Mill. If you want the exact opposite, come here. I forgot to mention, the guy working was rather unfriendly & didn't seem to know anything about what was on the menu or how to properly treat customers. Also, none of the plates or silverware matched. Seriously... It looks like they went to a bunch of garage sales & picked up whatever they could find. read more

Planned on eating here but the service was so horrible, we just ended up leaving. They were incredibly rude! Not sure how good the food is since we didn't stay. I don't care how good the food is, if they treat their customers like this I refuse to eat here. Eat next door at Taco King or go to Jakes Pizza, where they welcome your business. Took a chance on this small local pub and wasn't disappointed! Good selection of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and light entrees. Service was great and the local bartender checked back often to see if we needed anything. This place was a very pleasant surprise as I was looking for somewhere to eat while passing through Albert Lea. The only "negative" thing is have to say about this place is that the web site, and consequently Google, incorrectly said it was closed on Mondays. Fortunately, I passed by it and saw the "open" sign on while looking for somewhere else to go. The building is very nice, and has a cool pub character. The bartender and regulars were very friendly. in town on business. tried this place. the food was very well done. the wings were baked and very good. tried the balsamic jerk and the hot. the jerk wings were very good. the hot had a very good flavor but not a lot of heat. for the main course we all had the ribs. they were very good. the portions were just right unless you are looking to gorge yourself. I found I left pleasantly full but not uncomfortable. I would give more stars but they do not have a fryer. no French fries. :0( also, I would give another star if the beer selection was better on draft. they had 5 or 6 draft choices, but over half were your standard big brews. This core of the menu at this place is sandwiches, augmented by salads and a few other appetizer items. We were a party of 5 at lunchtime and the place was completely empty, except for one other customer enjoying a coke at the bar. We ordered a chicken melt, chopped salad, grilled cheese, cuban, pork slider, and an oversized soft pretzel and side order of spinach-artichoke dip to share. The latter was kind of a "dog," as it tasted like something warmed up from a can and served with tortilla chips, and the cheese dip for the pretzel was way too salty. Everyone seemed to like their sandwiches, however, and my chopped salad came with a tangy lime dressing that was nice touch for something that would otherwise be very standard.
