We contacted Wendy Kromer to design our wedding cake in December. The tasting and consultation went great. Wendy is very personable and willing to work with you and your budget. The day of our wedding the cake arrived perfectly and far exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful and one of the centerpieces of our day. In fact our guests were taking photos with the cake as if it were a tourist destination. Bottom line upfront: You would be doing yourself a favor by choosing to work with Wendy for your event! We worked with Wendy for our wedding and she did nothing but exceed our expectations. We met with Wendy in January for our taste testing and she had all of her butter creams, fillings, and cake options available for us to try. I am gluten free and Wendy was able to provide GF cake options not only for the wedding cake, but also for the tasting. About a month or two before the wedding I threw Wendy a curve-ball, asking if she would be able to not only make the wedding cake gluten free, but also dairy free AND soy free. Without hesitation she stepped right into this challenge, delivering THE BEST gluten free, dairy free, and soy free wedding cake I may have ever had. Although I did not have the regular (gluten-filled) cake, our guests were raving! Wendy also made a small GF, DF, SF anniversary cake for my parents. Wendy was a joy to work with! She is incredibly wise and knows what she is doing. My husband is in the Army and there was a point in our wedding planning where we 90% sure we had to change our wedding date. Cute place. It seems like a really comfortable environment to sit around and enjoy a cup of coffee or a freshly baked donut while watching Downtown Sandusky go by. I didn't see donuts when I randomly showed up though, but I may have missed them at 10am, and just got a plain bagel. A bit pricey, but the bagel was very good. read more

We ordered a simple cake for my mom's birthday. They tolerated us while we were determining whether Mom and Dad would be home for the party (they were "stuck" in Europe due to the volcano ash). As soon as we knew they were on the way home I contacted them and they were more than happy to do the cake on short notice. Wendy was very friendly at the pick-up of the cake and even came in on Sunday morning for us to get it. You can tell she is a perfectionist and that shows on the cakes. The cake was a hit at the party for not only it's beautiful design but it's amazing flavor and texture. Wendy did a beautiful job on my sister's bridal shower cake. Wendy's cakes are distinctive in taste. They are very dense, similar to a pound cake, and are incredibly moist. The cake cut better than any cake I have ever cut. It was really, really easy to cut and serve. I liked that is did not taste like typical wedding cakes. They are delicious and she has plenty of choices to create a combination that is right for you. We went with white cake with raspberry buttercream and raspberry preserve fillings. She is well-known for the beauty of her cakes, and rightfully so. She created a simple, elegant cake the fit the theme of the shower perfectly. What a find in Sandusky, OH!!! My daughter's wedding cake by Wendy Kromer was delectable! EVERYONE, even the "chocolate cake lovers" (ours was all white ), at the reception thought it was the BEST wedding cake they had ever tasted. Our experience, from the time my daughter, who lives in Chicago, her in-laws who live in Cleveland and I (who live in Cincinnati), arrived for the cake tasting in October, 2014 to the actual wedding reception in June, 2015, went well beyond our expectations. Wendy herself delivered the cake via BOAT to the reception! So many things could have gone wrong doing business with someone found on-line and with no personal recommendations,, but Wendy was nothing but professional and SOOOO helpful in not only choosing the perfect wedding cake but also with the details of planning a destination wedding. The wedding cake Wendy made for my daughter and son-in-law was beautiful and delicious, however, my daughter had a surprise for me (and her dad). Wendy made a special "wedding" cake for us that was so beautiful and intricately decorated and exactly what I would have wanted for my wedding (we eloped over 30 years ago)! Wendy designed our wedding cake, and we couldn't have been happier. With a nationally known reputation, we expected her to be out of our price range but we still wanted to check her out. Her prices fell right in line with the others we tried, and we were ecstatic because our tasting session with her blew the others away, so choosing her was easy. She gave us great suggestions when we weren't sure on different aspects of the process. Cake,we give her two stars. It looked pretty, however the consistency of the cake was like stale bread that had been warmed up in the micro wave . The icing was supposed to be butter vanilla cream , however it was sooo oily it made several guest comment. We had high expectations since it has been rated high. But for a $67.00 cake we were disappointed. On the up side we have had her almond croissants and macaroons that were amazing . read more

Beautiful, and tasted as good as it looked. I did everything by phone because I don't live there and it all worked out great. It also ended up costing a bit less than the quote she gave me on the phone. It was a little expensive but worth every penny- everyone loved it!
