Got us checked in quickly . Room is nice and comfortable. Ate dinner at the Mexican restaurant inside the casino. Played the slot machines for several hours. Floor staff were also very nice. By contrast.... Roberto at the bar closest to the service and front desk was horrible. Couldn't get my player card to work while trying to play a poker machine and he continued to harass us after we ordered a beer. We had played several hours and had no problems on the floor with the 2 beers we had. He continued to hover and continually asks" are you gonna play , buddy?" Over and over. We were playing but had a glitch with the card not reading my loaded $ on the player card. Asked what the deal was.... we're trying to get the card to work. He said" they are watching" you need to be playing to have a beer. True and also we were playing. Just having a card issue. Finally just told him to take the beer back and went to the front desk to get a new card. Didn't come to be harassed and treated rudely by the bartender. We are paying for a room, ate dinner at the restaurant, playing the slots all day and he was very out of line. Don't go to the bar where Roberto works!

My mother has been doing this trip for over 70 years, and the Golden Nugget was always part of our tradition. But this year was the worst experience I've ever seen, and I'm furious my 76-year-old mother had to go through it. Check-in was a complete disaster. We had reservations made a month in advance, but they kept us waiting for hours past the 4pm check-in time. My mother, who is elderly and needed to rest, had nowhere to go until almost 6:30pm. That alone was unacceptable. But then when we finally walked into her room, the smell was overwhelming -- marijuana, chemicals, and something even worse. Pulling back the sheets, we discovered feces on the bed. Feces. This is what my mother was supposed to sleep in after waiting hours for a room? The staff had no answers, no managers around, and no solution for us. As if that wasn't bad enough, there were scorpions crawling in the hallways. Multiple. On top of broken elevators, water damage everywhere, food that's gone downhill, and a pool that gave people rashes -- this hotel has turned into a nightmare. I've supported this place my whole life, but this crossed the line. To make my mother suffer through that experience was heartbreaking and infuriating. The Golden Nugget should be ashamed, and unless something changes, this family tradition is over. If zero was available they would get that score. Fix your hotel or somebody buy it and renovate this property.
