Wellspring Landscape recently designed and installed a complete rework of our home's front yard landscape on Pullman Ave in downtown Hot Springs. They added a stunning dry river bed crossing the yard corner to corner using two types of stone. Amongst plants added we are very fond of Nelly, our new Japanese Maple who we understand loves changing with the seasons! Marshall replanted our overgrown daylillies to the front of our house and added what we know will be gorgeous variegated pink azaleas for accent color and low maintenance! He included a birdbath and added a couple large stones even as late requests from us, even edged our ragged old front sidewalk to the front door with stone that fits in ever so nicely. Marshall has a remarkable work ethic. Shows up when he says he will, is diligent and responsible with his work and was careful of our property as he worked. He gave us a clear picture of what he planned and worked happily with us to incorporate our ideas. I recommend him to anyone who has landscaping needs. He is a person who you can trust to perform the work honestly at a fair price using good plants and materials who truly loves and as he should takes pride in what he does each day. read more

Had headaches with this company for the short term I used them (3 months). Was assured my needs for routine services were nothing out of the ordinary but sure thing I had to call after each service to report things that didn't get done, even after meeting with the director of quality control to review the property (a second time). And as reported in other reviews, they subcontract their fertilization and weed control work to Emerald Lawns, I could never keep up with who was to be on my property and when, except through invoices, as the Emerald Lawn crew left no trace of being on site. Wellspring has now merged with Top Choice Lawn Service and used the excuse that distractions during the merger was the reason for poor quality. The last straw for me was being told that my backyard wasn't serviced because the gate was locked, but my ring camera clearly shows a crew member making his way through the gate, then I guess he forgot about it. If you use them be prepared to waste time and energy. I would not dare show a photo of what my grass currently looks like - it's not at all indicative of what $170/treatment for aeration and fertilization should represent. read more

EDIT 2: After just another 4 months of using Wellspring after giving them another chance and I am going back to my original 1-star review and will NEVER use them again. After days of not receiving service with no communication, I reached out to see what was going on. Leigh told me that my service was delayed a day due to the holiday, which was fine. The next day, nothing. So I reached out again and Leigh told me that they couldn't make it and would definitely be there tomorrow. Well guess what? It's tomorrow and there has been no communication and no one has shown up. I'm done and will be looking for a more consistent service with better communication. EDIT: They reached out after this review and asked to fix the issue. Within a couple of days (it was the weekend) I had a new quote and they came out and performed the services within a few days of that. The cleanup/landscaping work they did was all good - no complaints there. The tree-trimming they did was ok, except I'm not sure they have much experience with fruit trees as they did not trim any of the new growth or tall branches on the peach trees, just pruned it for canopy. ORIGINAL REVIEW I've been using Wellspring for about a year now. Their regular, basic lawn service is reliable and affordable, and the quality is fine. However, I would not recommend any additional services. I requested landscape cleanup and tree trimming services from them. It took them weeks to even send someone out to be able to provide an estimate. Then after they finally came out, they kept saying the would provide an estimate "tomorrow" but never did. I finally told them to forget about it, and Daisy sent back a kind of snotty reply. It seems clear that they are simply another Austin lawn and landscape company that has more business than they can handle and aren't interested in growing any more. read more

I'm so happy I found this company! They are top notch! I own two dog daycare businesses here in Austin--Pups & Pals Pet Lounge. I have tried numerous landscaping companies over the past two years and none of them have been a good fit. I'm so grateful I found Wellspring, and wish I had found them sooner! I love Rule #2 of their company--"Shut the damn gate!" This is a super important rule for the residences that they service, but also for our business! I love that they are considerate about the pets whose yards they are mowing and want to ensure their safety so the dogs do not escape from a gate that was carelessly left open. I also love how this company has been willing to work with some of our specific requests. We have clients dropping their dogs off for doggy daycare each morning between 7-10 AM and picking them between 4-7 PM and dogs are scared of loud noises like lawn mowers! So we requested they not complete our services during those time frames! They have been so accommodating about our schedule and respect our needs specific to running our business smoothly. We so appreciate that and we were not able to find this with companies we used before. Finally I love the videos that the owner makes! During the month of October Austin experienced unprecedented rainfall. I mean we had like 20 days straight of constant rain. The owner sent out plenty of email communication including videos explaining that they would do the best they could to get everyone serviced as soon as the whether cleared up. But he also explained that even if we had one day of dry weather, it was still not a good idea to mow lawns that were still completely saturated. I really appreciated the transparency. Wellspring is a great company with a courteous and caring staff.

We have used Wellspring for close to 3-years. Kirk is a nice guy and I believe means well. We've had several ongoing issues with the quality of the fertilization, and mowing services. It's my impression that all non-cutting services are outsourced, and the quality of the 3rd party vendors fluctuates greatly. Kirk has been out personally to review the issues once, and I've recently had to contact them about severe rutting and what looks like over fertilization or "burn" marks in our yard. There is no concept of quality control by the company, if you don't speak up they won't proactively fix anything. Because of the issues we were concerned about signing up for automatic payments, as we wanted to review the services we received. We use our online banking payments, Wells Fargo, and had a number of billing issues with payments that were "lost" by their front office. The final breaking point for us was when our service was terminated by their office manager citing 2 missed payments. I sent proof of 1 payment, which had been cashed by Wellspring, and a second which had been sent but never cashed. Rather than simply calling me directly to address the issues - billing and lawn quality - the office manager refused to reinstate service, and sent emails from 1+ years ago that highlighted similar problems; check mailed, not cashed. Nice folks, but there's got to be a better way to get your lawn cut. read more

I do not recommend this company. I had to fire them after 3 weeks of the following: Mowed over vegetable garden clearly marked (twice), next mow the workers broke sprinkler-heads and relay access covers (I complained and they replaced brand new), next mow they ran over a clearly outlined flower bed with ROCKS and Name markers and destroyed the memorial flowers (3rd complaint filed with them); after discussion with team leader they agreed to trim our shrubs and hedges for free. HUGE mistake as they did not completely cut the shrubbery branches (left them hanging by stands of bark and fibers to dangle until dead/dried) and they butchered a tree to the heartwood and DID NOT SEAL IT! We got a nasty letter from the HOA about that one! We fired them immediately and still got spammed weekly on Facebook. I wrote a comment similar to this Yelp rating and they REMOVED it from their Facebook page. Their advertisements are full of lies, misleading and is NOTHING like my experience with them. We found a much better company that charges less than $50 every two weeks and they actually take care of our plants, vegetable garden and actually tend our memorial garden - because it has stones and PLAQUES the idiots at wellspring landscaping just didn't care about or bother avoiding. I like the owner and I like the service, but oh my has the company changed. It's grown fast so it's not as easy as it was in the past to schedule service. That's fine. It's great to see a local company do well. With that growth have come problems. I was double-billed for leaf-cleaning, once for $40 and again for $65 for the same service on the same day. I've had my gates left open on several occasions. Leaf collection was increasingly spotty. Unwanted services were performed - like having the lawn mowed instead of the leaves collected, for example. It can also take them a couple of months to bill your card. They used to do such a spectacular job that I raved about them to my neighbors and friends. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut to keep them doing the same great job. To their credit, the owner is a great guy and very concerned about quality service. However, as they've grown and hired more people, the service has declined. The final interaction I had with them was taking them up on a "special offer" to aerate and fertilize my miniscule lawn. The initial bid was impossible to decipher so I had them send another. I accepted and they never did the work after a few weeks so I did it myself and cancelled that service ($300). Right after I got an email from the owner essentially firing me as a client as they now want to focus on weekly clients. That's fine and dandy but I don't get the point of offering a "special offer" if there's not the capacity to fulfill the promised service. I really liked this company and hope to have them back again. Let's see. I have a lot of confidence in the owner to fix things. read more

We went through a long selection process for both major landscaping work and weekly maintenance. We chose Wellspring for both, and I'm happy we did. The maintenance has been great with affordable pricing and reliable and very fast service. The main things I liked about Kirk for the landscaping were his reasonable price and his apparent knowledge about what we needed to do and how to make it work best for us. But perhaps the most important was that he was responsive and reliable. They just finished the work yesterday and it looks fantastic. His crew was very respectful and friendly, and he kept me up to date on weather delays, etc. Kirk also took care of some little things that were not specified in the bid but he likely felt were part of the process of improving the yard. I have been using Wellspring for several months now. They do a great job with the basics- mowing, edging, blowing. In addition, they helped replant some flower beds in my yard and also they have done tree trimming. The owner is very nice and really wants to make the customer happy. Very nice people to work with. My only complaint, which is little, is that sometimes it can take a while for them to do their book keeping. (ex: sometimes they won't charge your credit card until 2-3 weeks later and then you'll have 2-3 weeks worth of charges all at once.) It's not a huge deal though, and it won't keep me from using their services. read more

AJ and Ben were excellent. They arrived when scheduled, were clean cut and professional, and were prepared with all types of equipment. They removed old shrubs and some overgrown prickly succulents. They reworked the bedding and mulch to make it look like nothing had been taken out. I felt like I was working with a team who was as invested in the look of my landscape as I was. Rather than removing one of the plants I requested, they trimmed and cleaned it up to see if I liked it better. It was perfect, looked like a new plant and I'm really glad they didn't just rip it out. When they finished the work I had planned, they went further to weed a walkway, pick up leaves and do general cleaning in order to fill the time I had paid them for. Before they departed, they cleaned the area with a leaf blower and checked in to make sure I was satisfied. I could have not been more pleased and I highly recommend this company. read more

What started out as a decent service became a problematic one: poor follow through, undelivered promises, really bad communication, and slow response time. Just like Nombre D, when I contacted the owner about specific problems, he stated he wanted to repair the problems but ended up firing me as a customer! The person who handled my contract put extra items on my contract. I only wanted my yard mowed. I asked about the items and informed I wasn't ready. He assured we could discuss at a later date when I was ready. I didn't have to do it then. I signed the contract and he went ahead and did the extra work then took from my account w/ out any further discussion. He said they did the work and took the money. Just be careful what you sign. He didn't care that the amount wasn't in my budget but he got me to Sign trusting we could decide when to do the work later. read more

The pricing is reasonable and the service has been excellent. The team assigned to my properties is friendly and, while they are on site, frequently asks if any yard area needs particular attention. I hired wellspring landscape in 2014 and they were pushy promising yard clean-up and pruning all my shrubs ( I don't even have many shrubs) and trimming. All I wanted is lawn mowing service and that's it. I wanted to give them a try and see how paying over $676 dollars will take care of all my lawn needs and all the clean. After they were done I was extremely disappointed and felt disgusted by this rip-off, they basically realized they can just overcharge because they can. They butchered my sago palms and cut all the leaves even though it was all green!!!! They didn't do any yard clean up at all like they promised. They pruned the shrub around my fence in such an extreme way that it defeats its' purpose of serving as privacy shrub. Some plants were in need of care like cutting the old yellow leaves piled up and they didn't do that at all, or even perhaps cut the dead parts of the Agaves. They mowed my lawn few times until I couldn't take it anymore. Looking at my lawn half butchered (Bear in mind that I have medium size lawn, 0.4 acre), while the other half need pruning and clean-up that I ended up doing it myself. EDIT: May I know how you checked your records? because normally businesses can contact reviewers personally asking specifics to check for the records and usually show some courtesy. On the other hand, you were judging my other reviews on another bad business. Yes I like policing businesses through reviews, because nowadays this site plays an important role for me in finding good contractors. I had my fair share of good and bad experiences with different landscapers. Since you checked your "records" did you check statement No. 4643 and Invoice#: 200-12031. First item was pruning per customer satisfaction- $560.00. I had no idea why it has to cost this much just for pruning. I mean they didn't make any miracles. All I had in my lawn is only three medium size live oak trees, one red oak, 7 Italian cypress trees, 3 wax myrtles, two leyland cypress and two arizona cypress, and none of these trees were pruned at all. In fact, there is no need to prune them!I have few shrubs here there around 4 locations that has shrubs in total. Of course I have few areas with some plants like sago palms and agaves. Definitely not a big pruning job. read more
