He urged that I follow up my visit with a specialist and explained the reasons that it was important for me to do this in a manner that I could understand. I highly recommend this facility for any emergency or when a family physician is not available. My husband had to go in this past weekend for a sinus infection. He was so impressed with the medical personnel who cared for him. She was professional and personable. He said, "She was just great! You can't do a better job that she did. That place is the best!"

They really seem to go above and beyond at this place. For example, after the medical assistant took my vitals and exited the room, I started coughing / hacking uncontrollably. She heard me and came back in and proactively offered me one of their free bottled waters, which I very much appreciated. Also, when the PA/doctor later came in and I told her my symptoms and how I had tried to self-treat with some old Rx meds I had on hand (on the recommendation of my mom, who is also a nurse), she actually commended me for doing that, re-upped my Rx, and told me to keep going. Although it was no fun to be sick right before the December holidays, this place made treating that sickness less stressful than the typical urgent care. I give this place 5 stars -- maybe even 6!

Both the nurse as well as the doctor were fantastic. The doctor didn't rush, and instead took an appropriate amount of time to discuss and perform an exam. I'd definitely visit this practice again. I walked into this establishment and was met by a lovely bubbly receptionist that helped me prepare for my first time visit. I stepped on a nail and it was embedded in my foot. After I signed all the paperwork I was greeted by a very charming and pleasant Assistant who took my blood pressure and weight. Soon following the Doctor entered and explained (in layman's terms) exactly what he was going to do for my injury. He really made me feel comfortable. I had thought that Penn State Health accepted Medicare for full payment for services at this clinic. Wrong. I went to a Podiatrist to have my toe nails cut and requested Topical medication to cure toe nail fungus. The Doctor was great and addressed my medical needs. She spent about 20 minutes with me and had a prescription called in to my Pharmacy. Several Weeks later I get a bill for $359 for her services. Medicare covered $244 and I got a bill for $114.00. I went to their office and asked if I could get installment payments. I am living on Social Security. They told me to contact their Hershey office about payments. The woman that took my call at Hershey said that if the amount is under $200 they don't ACCEPT installment payments. She sent me some forms to fill out requesting to have my balance written off by Penn State. The forms they sent me were ridiculous. They wanted me to mail them copies of my last 4 bank statements in addition to another bunch of BS. NO way i would do that instead of just sending them installment payments. My account numbers is none of their business. As far as I know, they MUST accept installment payments by law. So guess how much they are getting? Anything Penn State is a RIP OFF. From their tuition to parking, to anything Penn State, RIP OFF. Find a different Podiatrist and save yourself a headache. Penn State Health is for rich people.

I think many more people should be considering medical practices such as evolve, yet I still do not find that many. The closest analogy is somewhere like Care first, however, Care first is less of a medical practice run by one doctor and more of a mass healthcare system. That day, Michelle was working as; Medical Assistant, Lab Technician and receptionist. Which those are 3 different jobs btw. I needed some lab testing and they were very gentle despite my situation. Then- this is where it kind of went down hill. I was summoned to come back due to an "error" with the lab. I was very hesitant as this was very painful procedure. It was a different provider and this one - not so gentle hands. I was ready to walk out. I was in tears in the exam room from so much pain. I could hear the assistant apologizing profusely while I was laying on the bed. Not to mention this provider opens the door while a male was standing at the door while I not fully dressed. When done, I walked out almost in tears. During this. They have an option to text a number. Forget that. I have been texting them questions since July 7( now July 13) and YET no answer. So don't bother with that. To make matters worse. I get yet ANOTHER call saying the lab messed up my SECOND sample and had to come in again. I cried. I said so your lab messed up a second time?! I get there- very unhappy. I'm irritated at this point. My original provider comes in. I made a comment about this being the third time and she was confused. Apparently it was NOT documented that I came in the previous day to take samples so the employees the next day weren't aware. Imagine my relief but extreme frustration. I made an appointment for the first week when I arrived in Mount Joy and there was no long wait. FMMJ is on the corner of E. Main Street/Cornerstone Drive and part of Lancaster General Health. There is plenty of parking and the office is bright, clean and welcoming. Even though we're in a small town, I've been quite impressed with the technology here at FMMJ. There is an app patients can download (or use the website) to message the doctors, make appointments or get lab results. I never had that back in Virginia! When my prescriptions are low, I simply email my doctor through the app and she (or a nurse) responds quickly. Speaking of doctors, I see Dr. Stern who I love. My boys also like her. She is a laid-back doctor, which helps me with my blood pressure--total opposite of my old doctor. I feel very comfortable in her presence. My youngest son and I met the other doctor, Dr. McGrath, the other day for an urgent care appointment. He is very nice and I liked the fact that he didn't just prescribe antibiotics when they weren't needed. I love that I've been able to get appointments for the same day. The staff is friendly and cheerful, and they always make us feel comfortable. I would highly recommend FMMJ to everyone!
