This review is about my illness and the great care I received from staff at the Fairfax Urgent Care…read more(Strawberry Ln). Three weeks ago I was feeling pretty sick and went to Urgent Care. I got there around 8:30 AM (they opened at 8 AM). I signed in and sat down for maybe 5 minutes before I was seen by Dr. Brittany A. She was extremely polite, friendly and diagnosed me with a Sinus infection and gave me the Z-Pack. A week or so went by and I was feeling a bit better, but nowhere near 100%. On Saturday, I began feeling worse, and had a fever and shortness of breath. My wife drove me back to the Urgent Care on Sunday AM and I was seen immediately. The receptionist (I believe her name was Sarah), took me to get a chest X-ray and to make sure it wasn't a serious matter. She was very polite and made me feel comfortable during the exam. She brought me and my wife into an exam room and waited only a few minutes to been seen by the Physician. Again, I saw Dr. Brittany A., who advised me there was some fluid in my lungs and would treat me for pneumonia. She put me on a breathing machine for approximately 10-15 minutes, which helped me with my breather. Dr. Brittany discharged me with a stronger antibiotic and albuterol (inhaler). Dr. Brittany was again, extremely polite, courteous, professional and really cared about my health. I began feeling better after about five days. Because of the way she treated me (and my wife), I will continue to visit this Urgent Care when I get sick. I am giving this review a 4 not a 5 because one of the assistants was not as personable and kind and caring as the two women mentioned above. Thank you.

Take the stairs up to get to the entrance of the Urgent Care Center. The other way to find a place is to park in the garage and then walk around on the outside of the garage to find the stairs that lead to the entrance of the Urgent Care center. There are signs on the walls that will indicate the Urgent Care Center. Cons: First, they give you forms that are copied from an original that was obviously highlighted so you can't see some of the words. I don't understand why they can't get a clean copy of the forms. Second, the forms are outdated and do not have a lot of room for you to write your medical history, medications, etc. Third, the medical assistant needs more tact in communication. She opened the door and pointed in my direction, but I was sitting around a group of people, so it wasn't clear who she was pointing to. She should have announced the last name of the person. It's rude to point fingers at people. I tried to clarify if she was asking for me to come up, and then, she says yes you. She has very poor communication skills. She does not greet you at all. She doesn't explain the process or what to do after the visit is over. I have managed medical clinics, so I know what I am talking about. Pros: The receptionist seemed proficient. The place is clean and seems organized. The wait is usually not that long, but you can always call ahead to see how long the wait is. The physician assistant seemed proficient and was friendly. As with any medical visit, always call ahead to confirm if they take your insurance and bring your ID and insurance card(s), a list of your current medications, medical conditions/history, and other names of your other doctors to make it easier. I would visit them again to give them another chance if I ever needed Urgent Care again. I hope they use this feedback to improve.

I chose the Minute Clinic inside CVS on South Lakes Drive in Reston as it is very close to my home. I received top-notch, first class care here and wanted to share this with others who are contemplating using this hub. I saw Grace Soistman, NP, and Obal, NR, who were knowledgeable, professional, and caring. They carefully explained my options and the initial procedure they recommended. I especially appreciated their caution in trying a less invasive procedure first. Because I used ear drops to dissolve the wax, I avoided the possibility of using an intrusive instrument that could possibly damage my ear drum. After using the drops for 10 days, I returned to find one ear was completely clear and the other only needed a curettage to scoop out the remaining wax. I left with a big smile on my face and thankful for the great care I received. They gave me a summary sheet outlining my treatment, the causes of wax build-up, and how to keep from getting build-up in the future. Finally, they sent the information to my primary care provider. I had no idea this was covered by Medicare. The charge was reasonable and much less than an urgent care center.

It's a real no-frills medical-care operation, but I have always found the clinic staff to be wonderful. You can check the wait times online and get on the list in advance (I like to use the CVS app for this), but you can also walk in without preregistration. When you arrive, you sign in on a computer, and a screen shows the wait list (by initials, not full names) so you know if there are people ahead of you. When it is your turn to be seen, the practitioner (usually a nurse) will greet you, take you into the exam room, take your ID and insurance, and start the exam. You pay right there in the exam room and go on your way. If the practitioner writes you a prescription, they can either fill it there at the CVS pharmacy, or send it digitally wherever you would like. The best part is, you can then peruse CVS for whatever other OTC medications you might need before you go home. I went to this MC twice in the last 2 weeks. Both times I was desperately in need of medical care, and I learned that it's impossible to get into my primary care physician's office same day. First I had poison ivy, and the nurse at this MC was so unbelievably compassionate to my condition. She ran out into the store to find Tecnu wash. She didn't just tell me to get it, she went and grabbed it for me, and sent me on my way with a prescription to fight the rash. A week later I was sick and again couldn't get in to see PCP. I used the CVS app to check wait times at MC and registered when it was down to 15 minutes. I left my office at 3 pm. I was home on the couch with antibiotics and tea by 4 pm.

I have used it more for ugent care, usually on weekends and times my normal doctor wasn't free. I recently moved back to fairfax and had to visit a few times. I have been assisted with normal colds and viruses, along with some sports injuries which required xrays. Every time, the experience was a good one. Wiat times were never a problem, better than most doctors' offices. The staff was always polite and helpful. English may be a second language for a few of the staff, so they may be quieter and not as talkative, but always nice and professional. I will continue to use this location as it can be much easier than a primary care doctor. Also, to those who complained about billing, I would always rather have them bill as a primary doctor visit over urgent care. Every insurance alive charges more for an urgent care or ER visit versus doctors office visit.

I notified them that we had arrived. Someone came out and took our insurance cards and ID. Apparently they forgot about us because I called them at 4:30 to remind them we were still waiting. We then took the COVID 19 test fifteen minutes later after being required to answer a few questions from the doctor (3 minutes tops). They then billed my insurance company (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) $150 for an "Office Visit" for my wife and $194 for "Medical Care" for me. And then billed me for the $30 and $35 copays. COVID 19 Testing is a cash cow for this office. Answering a few questions from the doctor over the phone doesn't count as an "office visit" or "medical care" in my book.
