Within 24 hours he came over to my cousin's home where the work was required and we got a quote hours later. I must state this back yard was in really bad state rocks weeds uneven ground and drainage issues. After already having two other companies give quotes on this job we decided to use Welling. They were the only ones who would do the job cleaning the rocks and weeds without us having to get another company to do this part. Next I had to deal with other family members who saw bad write ups on the Internet such as Yelp. Many other issues came up requested changes and unforseen problems arouse. Through all of this Chris and his workers found ways to resolve every issue and finish the project. This was a very large job over $60,000 dollars. The pavers they put down were far the finest I've ever seen the grass sprinklers trees rocks and under ground drains we perfect. This is not to say there were not some issues we had to deal with and some disagreements had occurred just that they were always handled and dealt with without problems. This is a great company and the owners are top notch. Everyone gets bad reviews but you as the client should only care about the ones that matter. I checked their license no complaints filed. Checked the Corporate license they had no issues there. Check court records found none and no BBB complaints. So this is what you need to see not someone who just mad. Home owners and contractors beware; The owner of this company, Chris Welling did not perform. His sales rep made promises that Chris didn't keep. The job was promised to be done in one day maybe two. It took 5 days. It's the old bait and switch, the bait is the mature sales representative who is a very professional man, the switch is a crew of very young people that are very non professional. After the ground was prepared to lay down the sod, only a portion of the sod was installed and then they left and returned the next day to finish. By the time they finished, the first sod they layed was drying out and turning brown. They left the sprinkler heads covered with sod, so I turned off the system so not to wash out the sod covering the sprinkler heads. I watered by hand that evening and the next morning. When they came back to finish, they cut the sod away from the sprinkler heads but left 3 covered that they didn't see. So I cut them out myself. One sprinkler head cap was missing that was there before they started. When I pointed it out to the worker ( the owners brother ), he told me where to purchase another one, but did not offer to do the work, suggesting that I do it myself. They crushed 7 feet of my flagstone walkway with there ditchwitch. They did repair it but it doesn't look the same. I'm a senior citizen and I believe that they didn't give any regard to that. This company, in my opinion, is dishonest and dosen't seem to care about quality or taking care of the customer. As far as I'm concerned I feel like this was elder abuse. I would never reccomend this company to anyone. In my opinion they are non professional, I had to loan them tools because they were ill prepared for the task at hand, but I didn't mind, I was happy to help. Chris the owner lacks integrity. He seems to have a hidden agenda that I think is to overcharge and under perform and to get in and out as fast as possible. After the job was finished and paid for I didn't get a thank you of any kind. Also Chris lacks communication skills and doesn't return calls or texts. I'm certain that he has a rebuttal to everything I've said. Bottom line is that I'm a very unhappy customer. I am a survivor of throat cancer and I saved money for 3 years to pay for the lawn to be installed. The one and only shinning light is the sales representative Robert Savage, who is no longer there. He was there every step of the way. And expressed great concern for the job and for my happiness. And offered to come back, dig out and replace the sprinkler head that is missing its cap. After 3 weeks and being told that the seams will fill in and the grass will green up the last 5 photos show that the grass is still looking bad and the seams are still showing. read more

If there was a number lower than one that would be my review to Welling Enterprise. Everything is fallen apart in our backyard. Now we have to get somebody out here because the pavers are sinking so bad. It's not even safe to be in our pool. Caps are coming off. They admitted they should've not have glued them, but never came back to fix them. six of them already came off. We spent a six figure number on this job. He took more than he was supposed to of our money. He's not a man of his word. I know this is his old website so people may not see it, but here's my number if you'd like to talk to me 208-446-8866. DO NOT do business with Chris Welling, unless you want to be conned. Chris has great stories to get you to sign a contract with him. We fell for his charming stories, and it was all part of the con. Warning - Chris is a master at this. Don't be fooled. He is great at making up excuses why this is not done or that's not finished. He promises you everything and delivers very little. The contract states they will mow the yard and maintain it. I inquired about this recently and he said his wife will send an email for me to arrange when I wanted the lawn mowed. I'm still waiting for the email. He promised on several occasions to email the schedule to no avail. we signed the contract February 2023. Chris stated they would start the project March 1st and complete it by March 8, 2023. I would say they just finished June 6, 2023. During this extended time Chris has one excuse after another. Communicating with him was exhausting. He does not answer texts, respond to emails, seldom returns calls, and if you are fortunate that he picks up the phone you get one of his long and involved stories. I caught him lying many times. In the same conversation he would say one thing and then contradict himself later on. They had to extend the sprinkling system to the backyard. The system didn't work properly. I called numerous times about the problem. He had me take pictures of the Rain Bird programming box. He said he had to contact the company for a diagnosis, and it was this or that, or we may need another kind of programming box. I asked my neighbor to look at my system. We found Welling Excavation & Landscaping through Angie's List. We were looking to have a deck built in our backyard, and Chris Welling, (the owner) contacted us and came over. Chris is a master con artist. His business website states that he and his brother started a company, to provide quality service to the customer at a honest price. Chris will tell you everything you want to hear, and promise the world, but never follows through. He laid out a less than professional job plan, we agreed to a price and put down a deposit on the job, to get building supplies ordered. We never heard from him or saw him again. He will not answer his phone, as his voice mail box is full. He is definitely avoiding us, and our efforts to contact and confront him regarding this issue. A really disappointing experience and I hadn't even gotten started with my gazebo structure. Chris Welling talks a great game and appears to be the consummate professional... I was very impressed after my first meeting with him. We discussed my project - a relatively simple one - on a Wednesday and he told me he'd have an estimate to me by the weekend, advising they could get started "within three weeks or so." The weekend came and went, and then another week went by. I left voice messages and texts asking him to get 'hold of me, and the office staffer I spoke with multiple times asked him to call me as well. After three weeks went by he finally called out of the blue, asking if he could swing by my house the next day to discuss the estimate... he never showed up. When I finally reached him after waiting most of the day, he said "something came up" and promised he'd come by the next day. He made good on his word, arriving on a Thursday with his younger brother, Jordan, but he'd done absolutely nothing with respect to putting together an estimate. He then assured me - again - that he'd definitely get me a couple of different estimate variations by Saturday... well, that was nearly two weeks ago now and AGAIN he's vanished like a ghost. I honestly can't attest one way or the other to the actual quality of the Wellings' work product, but from my experience they appear to be one of the most disorganized companies I've ever had the misfortune to deal with... they're quite young, in way over their heads and have no clue whatsoever how to run a business. We hired Chris ( Welling Ent) to landscape our back yard which included concrete patio, concrete bench ( not level or straight), a deep trench for our Spa Pool, Artificial grass, wood fences with gates. pavers, fire pit and trees. The retaining wall for the pool deck is collapsing. A access door was supposed to be installed in the deck to access the spa motors. Never got done. the concrete is cracking and uneven. The grass looks horrible, the gates dont open or close again after several attempts to fix them. The pavers are sinking, the fire pit is not level and has a huge stain on it. One of the trees has died because they moved it 4 times when we told them to wait so we could direct placement. They cracked our Linen Pavers and promised they would be replaced. They cracked the lawn edging concrete dividers, removed it and never replaced it. We had a party in the yard back in September and the edge pavers came loose causing tripping injury. The fences that they took apart blew out in the last windstorm because they weren't put back correctly. Our vinyl fences are bowed out because they over filled with rock. This long fence is exposed to the side street. They got concrete on the fences and the house and sprayed a chemical on them to wash it off. Now the surfaces are stained.They left large oil stains that they attempted to clean with a pressure washer to no avail. They ran into my shed and damaged it and said nothing. To my amazement , one of the employees showed up- on my porch this morning because he was cheated out of pay, he proceeded to tell me that Chris knows the back deck is unsafe. Chris promised to come back to install drainage because the rainwater drains back towards the house. His employee told me that Chris has blocked me and has no intention of honoring his warranties. As others have clearly stated, he is not a man of his word. we also found that he bought his way onto Angies list, where we found him. We now have a backyard that is too dangerous to use, and will eventually cause foundation problems. His workmanship has no value because he cant do anything right. We feed his workers, had them over for BBQ's and dinners. What a slap in the face. When approached via texts, he stated that the Idaho License Board won't do anything about it. This guy Chris Welling, his girlfriend office manager Faith and his brother Jordan Welling are the biggest Con Artists ever. Lie after LIE. At this point we have over $100,000 wasted. what can improve? His service, his quality of work, his honesty. He Has very little skill. No job was done correctly Never followed through on his word and seldom showed up to actually work Seldom a word of truth comes out of his mouth. I hired him in April to improve an already beautiful yard. I only wanted pavered areas for quests that would be visiting my sick husband. He was to complete the back yard before working the front and drive way. Chris was told the importance of this job was to me being my husbands last Gathering with friends. Many time when I spoke to Chris about him only showing up every 3rd or 4th day " don't worry I will have a beautiful yard for you when your friends arrive" BUT Welling demolished my yards front, back and drive way unusable for 5 months. I could hardly get my husband safely out of the house Had to go to neighbors driveway to exit. I had to hire an attorney to get Chris off my property. I am now hiring contractors that are trying to correct his MESS naturally costing tear down before build up. Really surprised by this company. We were nervous at first due to a couple bad reviews but we really trusted Chris and his team and oh man did they deliver. Chris and Jordan have big ideas and will con you to the end. They are the used car salesman of the landscaping industry. They had no equipment, just 4 shovels and a little red wagon. They just lie about that. This company is a very small company that has two brothers that own it. Chris, Jordan, and there significant others also helping is their 55 year old father-in-law. And that's all they have to do the work. They wI'll promise you the world get half the money down and string you out for a month or two and then you'll have to tell them to leave because they only work 20 minutes mostly or 2 to 3 hours at the most per day. or don't even show up, they are the used car salesman the landscaping industry. I gave him a one rating because that's the lowest that there was. They are ConMen--- buyer watch out don't use them to buy all the equipment yourself and you'll be way ahead. What a bunch clowns. To cover the torn up grass they will broadcast grass seed over it including your freshly planted flowerbeds. karma will find them. read more
