Dave and every one of his employees treat those who walk in like family. I'm from California and purchased my wedding and reception outfit from Well Groomed Fremont, CA location. The experience with Sara was amazing. I decided to go to Canada for additional last min wedding shopping and stopped by WG in Payal Center. The store is huge with lots of selection and I decided to purchase outfits for my mom and sister. The initial meeting was great, they took down notes of the order and we were told the outfits would be delivered to my house two weeks prior to the wedding (5 week turn around time). When the expected delivery date passed, I called WG Canada and I kept getting the run around. I also called the Fremont location and they tried their best to help but because each store operates independently, they couldn't help me much. The outfits didn't arrive until the week of the wedding... my mom's outfit didn't have the piping that I had customized and my sisters white outfit had stains. I called WG Canada and it was so difficult to get any resolution. Because I purchased the outfits in Surrey, I would have had to ship both back for them to fix it. With the wedding days away, we decided to keep the outfits as they were. Had I known that each WG operates independently, I would have purchased the outfits from the Fremont location. read more

A total disaster coming to this place , save your money go else where! My daughter-in-law had a custom dress picked to be custom fitted and it was a disastrous fit. He also has the audacity to call and advise my daughter -in-law not to bring me in for the fittings due to the fact we were voicing our opinion on the fit. He took 50% deposit but did not custom fit the dress. We had to go to another place and had another dress fitted and the bride looked fabulous. I got married this past May and had gone to India to do my wedding shopping. Clearly, unhappy with the product, I decided to go to Vancouver to replace a couple of my outfits. Well Groomed was the first place I went and I fell in love with everything about it. I didn't initially go in to get outfits replaced; I went in to get an outfit I had in mind for my engagement shoot. We had a month to get the outfit and Dave delivered it within two weeks and it was absolute perfection. The minute my husband and I walked in we were greeted by staff. They were absolutely wonderful and accommodated us even though we did not have an appointment. Dave, who was busy with a consult, managed to help us and the other bride and we were all very happy. Once my shoot was over, my husband and I decided to go in and get a new reception outfit for me. Once again, with our wedding three months away, Dave pulled it off. I was never worried, the whole process with Dave was stress-free. I ended up getting my ladies party outfit from him too, which I let him design completely (at this point he knew me quite well and he knew what my style is). Once again, blew me away. To really test Dave, I called him two weeks before my wedding and told him I had a surprise drone shoot the day before my wedding and I wanted a custom made floral lengha. He had the outfit made and delivered within a week (including May long weekend, so shipping dates were off). I trust Dave and his team completely and would urge brides who are doing their wedding shopping to have a consultation with Well Groomed. Your experience there will be unlike any other Indian store in Surrey (I have been to my fair share and avoid them at all costs). I have been married for 5 months and Dave has been my preferred vendor (he has already made me a few outfits post wedding and is making more for me for future weddings) and I have sent my cousins and friends to him. They have nothing but great things to say about the team at Well Groomed. I asked for a custom made out for my reception. To make a long story short, I never received photographs as promised of the design process and colours. I received one picture two weeks before the wedding day. I also was promised I would receive my outfit two months before the wedding giving me ample time to find matching jewellery. He didn't deliver until 4 days before the wedding! When he showed me the outfit he had completed, it was completely different from the one picture he showed me. He had tried to convince me I had changed the order through an email. I asked him to prove it. He then went to the back and pulled out my actual order that he made. Four days before the wedding, the outfit was way too big and not exactly what I had been promised and had pre-paid for. One of his store clerks does the stitching in his store resulting in an visibly uneven hemline and a blouse that kept unhooking all evening and ill fitting. On a positve note, his staff is super friendly. My fiance's outfit was tailored very nicely and fit him to the tee. read more

Very good outfits, beautiful work but overpriced. You can go to India and find more variety and trends for half the price.. sometimes 1/4 the price. I know it's a business but sad to see how much profit they try to make. But yes if you're shopping locally and can't go to India.. you have no choice as they do have the best. Having said that, their customer service is the WORST. They will make u run around, come back 10 times for the same outfit, never deliver on time and keep lying to overcome it. I had to get my outfit for my brother's wedding here. I followed Dave's suggestions completely on fabric and design, namely, raw silk and palazzo pants with a gota/border on bottom border of pants. After all, he's the expert. It took ridiculously long for the outfit to arrive from India but that was not the issue. It smelled like gasoline and had a stain\mark on chest. For the price, it was really fairly simple with minimal work. I had to get top altered and that was fine, other than the mark which they said they couldn't do anything about. But the pants were just horrible. They fell in a weird way because the gota border pulled the silk in weird directions, it was too short and the crotch was way too low. They added length and shortened the crotch but then it was too tight and still didn't fall right. I think the gota and style was a bad choice for that fabric. I had more than four fittings over a period of a few weeks. I don't underatand how they can get it so wrong when they had taken all my measurements. I didn't get taller or gain weight. Finally, THE EVENING BEFORE THE WEDDING, I just had to take it as is - with a mark on it, and with ill fitting pants that fall weird. The kicker is they charged me nearly $1,500 for what looks like a bad $300 suit. Dave is a nice guy and his intentions are good as he says, but I wouldn't have let a client walk out with an outfit like that knowing it represents my brand. He offered to make me new pants but by then it was less than an hour before they closed on the evening before the wedding. Obviously, too little too late. read more

You would think with a well stocked store of associates one associate would help you buy but they stayed at the front flocked around the owner. Bought one outfit regardless and it took the the tailor three tries to get it right and the suit doesn't look as good as it initially was. With the amount of money you spend in this store you would think customer service quality would be on peak. And the tailors would be the best. Don't waste your money here. read more

I don't mean to toot my own horn but as a background I should explain that I am quite familiar with Indian clothes and pricing, such a gaurav gupta, manish malhotra, sabyasachi, manish arora, ritu kumar, anita dongre, neeta lulla, etc. I'm also a long time resident of vancouver and grew up going to Main Street so I'm familiar with Canadian-Indian stores, their pricing, and the designer knockoffs they typically carry. I'm not aware that well groomed carries any top Indian designers and they mainly have "copies" of designer pieces as well as their own pieces that they custom make. I've browsed this store many times over the years and while the occasional piece catches my eye, I find the selection at raj collection or armaan or even crossover Bollywood se to be superior (see my reviews of those stores). I find their fancier pieces to be the usual heavy, gaudy, Christmas-tree like outfits. If you want bling then you'd be happy, but for elegance, sophistication, and to stand out from the crowd, go elsewhere! read more

Don't order from Well Groomed, they are unprofessional when it comes to all parts of business. I don't even know who owns this horrible company, but their semi-nice looking designs will cost you more than $2000 when you can get something similar for less than half the price from an Ontario company (I found later on thank god!). They don't listen to suggestion, their models look like they are relatives or best friends because they never use any new ones (only one chubby faced girl who shouldn't even be modelling because you won't be able to tell how something will look on you with a disproportionate model!). I would highly recommend you DO NOT order from them, you'll waste your money and time, they try to act like Tarun Tahiliani when they are a horrid rumour starting business that only few Indian Vancouverites know of!! That's right, they started rumours on a girl I know and I'm not even sure why, she's like 21 and they're probablly like 50 plus, GROW UP. read more

I went to Wellgroomed after watching their Fashion show at the Darpan Gala, I was extremely pleased with the selection of the outfits that they have. i needed a saree for my 25th anniversary and i tried over 8 sarees, the staff was very helpful, and patient and offered suggestions in terms of colors and embroideries. One thing they lack is that they only have 1 trial room and since i were trying a lot of stuff, there was another customer waiting, so they need to work on having an extra changing room. read more

I visited Well Groomed last month for my wedding shopping. I was looking forward to visiting this boutique as I have seen many nice bridal outfits on their website. I was deeply disappointing by their lack of customer service skills. When I was trying my outfits on, the owner of the boutique payed no attention and was on his cellphone the entire time. He showed no interest when I asked him questions. This is for my wedding day; should you not be paying some attention to the bride-to-be?! Anyways, I did like an outfit at Well Groomed, but I found a better boutique, a nicer outfit and a lower price. The customer service was better at this other boutique as well. I DO NOT recommend this store to any future brides. Please take your time to shop and do not settle. I bought my bridal wear from "Made in India" in Surrey. Knowing my mother, I know she is particular and very picky because she knows her material's and the type of embroidery's out there. I had gone to quite a few stores before I walked in at Well Groomed and Met you Dave. The picture I showed you for my reception outfit, I had also shown at previous stores. What stood out to me was that you recognized who had designed the original piece. That was the moment where I decided I wanted my outfits from you; because a good designer always knows their labels! This then also led to Well Groomed designing my wedding outfit. From the material quality to the embroidery the work was amazing. You were able to take my vision of using my mom's wedding outfit design and creating a spectacular piece for me. I wanted a traditional look which you helped me accomplish! I had never previously shopped for Indian outfits in Canada, because the price point was always high and the quality of work was very cheap. Your work and knowledge of material and design changed that for me. My concern always was I would end up with a cheap looking wedding outfit because realistically not a lot of people understand that a good outfit is dependent on the quality of fabric, weight of the fabric and different kind of embroidery. It was a good feeling to find someone who actually doesn't cut corners but is upfront for the kind of work and quality of fabric being used in the design of the outfit. I had an awful experience with "Dave" from Well Groomed a few years ago and I am writing about it now because..well, better late than never. Potential customers need to be warned. I went to Dave 8 months before my wedding for the purpose of creating a custom made outfit. On my first appointment I was very clear as to what I wanted, brought pictures and so forth. Dave indicated he would have a sketch as well as fabric samples to me within 2 weeks. Fast forward 2 months - said fabric samples and sketch have still not arrived. Bear in mind I am applying pressure and touching base with him weekly during this time as my wedding is fast approaching. He reassures me that he is going to India himself and will return with my fabric samples as well as a sketch (wait a second - I thought Dave sketched the designs himself?) Anyhow, I wait another month - he returns from India. Still - he does not have my fabric samples or sketch. He tells me they are in the mail. I wait another 2 months, waiting and waiting. Clinging to the false hopes that the fabric sample and sketch was just on its way and would be here "soon", and not to worry - once we finalize the sketch and agree to the fabric, the outfit will be done in 3 weeks. It is now a month and a half before my wedding and Dave calls me in to present a fabric sample. The fabric sample is completely the wrong colour - not even close to what I asked for (ie. I asked for coral...fabric sample was a shiny deep purple). Furthermore, the sketch had not arrived. Frustrated, I asked for my deposit back and told him this was ridiculous. He returned my deposit after 20 minutes of arguing and I was left to my own devices to find my own outfit off the rack, with 6 weeks to go before my wedding. Sigh. But wait - that's only half of the story. My now husband also ordered his achkan from Dave. In contrast to my experience, his achkan did actually arrive - 2 days before the wedding!! Again - after months of delays and empty promises that it was "arriving next week." My husband went to pick it up when it finally arrived only to find the shoes he had ordered were 5 sizes too big. He could not possibly walk in them without tripping over his own feet. He advised Dave he did not want the shoes and was not going to pay for them, given the fact that they were un-wearable. Alas, Dave lashed out on him, exclaiming that if my husband did not pay for the shoes he would phone the police (!!!?). What in the world? In summary, this place has awful service - and while the outfits he produces may be nice, it is simply not worth the challenge of dealing with Dave and his empty promises when you have the stress of a wedding on your shoulders. He came off as such a polite/kind man in our initial meetings, but needless to say it was all a ploy; once you pay your deposit he is a different person. read more

I was shocked by the behavior of the owner; I think his name is Dave. I went in wanting to custom make an outfit for my cousin's wedding. I told the clerk my budget ($1000-$1500 - which should be VERY reasonable to have a really nice custom outfit for a non-bride). He was busy with a groom who was trying on his sherwani so I waited to have my "consultation". I watched this poor groom try to sit cross-legged on the floor in his outfit (for gurudawara) and he couldn't even bend his knees. He looked so uncomfortable -- but Dave kept telling him it was fine and fixing it would ruin the look. I couldn't believe he would do that to the poor guy. The groom ended up leaving with an outfit that didn't fit! When that was finally done he looked at me; heard my budget, and said he could really only do something quite plain for that amount. Basically brushed me off and told me to choose something off the rack. I looked around and actually found something I liked. By then he was occupied with a bride doing a consultation and I overheard him convincing her she needed TWO reception outfits. One for cocktails and then one for the reception dinner. I again was shocked (why the heck would a bride need two bridal outfits for the evening reception?!). Such a cash grab!!! He only cares about his bottom line. Wouldn't discuss the cost of the piece I wanted for even a second. He just said it was a steal and I was lucky to find it. His sales girls even looked embarrassed at how he brushed me off (they were all lovely and so kind and so patient). But Dave is a total scammer only concerned with his bridal clients and his bottom line. Super disappointed. (Prices were generally outrageous as well). read more

At first I must say I was concerned if visiting Dave all the way from Washington, D.C. would be worth the journey, but I could not have made a better decision. I visited Well Groomed nine weeks before my wedding, and I was freaking out if my clothing would arrive in time, or if they would need alterations when they arrived. Nonetheless, I put my faith in Dave and he came through! My clothing arrived (in Washington D.C.) well before my wedding day, and everything was tailored so incredibly well. No need for any alterations, and the quality was superb! I could not be happier with the outcome, and am really glad I visited him for my wedding attire needs! I received my wedding reception outfit a day before my wedding and there was still work to be done to the outfit. Dave the owner was Hawaii. Please DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY. Dave seems very nice at first but once you give your 50% deposit, this man is dishonest and unprofessional. He took my measurements 3 times and still never got my outfit properly fitted. Needless to say, three weeks before my wedding, I was beginning to panic. Who could possibly make a custom outfit in three weeks? I reached out to Dave whose boutique I had visited on my wedding shopping trip to Surry. I explained my situation to him and assumed he was going to say he could not help me. To my surprise, without any hesitation, he said he could get the outfits done in time. Soon, we were exchanging measurements, designs, colors, and ideas for my outfits. Once we finalized all the details, Dave told me my outfit would be here in a few weeks. When I received the package and opened it, all of my outfits were amazing. I came here a year ago to ask for a custom made dress for my wedding. I showed Dave a picture and he said he could recreate it with no problem. He took my measurements, sent me a sketch of what it would look like and that was it. I came back to try it on a few months later and it was just all wrong-- it objectively did not look good on me at all and yet he kept saying it was exactly what I wanted. I am not a dressmaker or designer-- that's what I came to him for. Instead of admitting that it looked awful on me, he got incredibly defensive and insisted it's what I asked for. He offered to send it back to India to get the top remade but at that point I had no faith that it was going to be any better. Long story short, I took it to a seamstress in Seattle and she did the best she could to fix it and he covered a small part of the alteration cost. (As a side note: this seamstress said she does custom dresses for people and it's a very iterative process where someone comes in over the course of several weeks and she builds the dress for them step by step). I should have written something earlier but I thought maybe I was the one who screwed up. Now someone else I know is saying she went through a similar situation with him.
