When I came in to rent the unit she explained all the fees and prices clearly to me. She was as kind in-person as she was on the phone. She even took me on her golf cart to show me my unit personally and showed me the cameras on the property. When I used the unit, I felt safe and secure leaving my items there. You do need to get your own lock and if you're renting the 5 ft space, get a short lock. The only complaint I would have is that it seems like ant will be in your unit. I'm not sure if that's an issue but if your stuff is boxed up and taped up, it should be fine.

This was not a couple of droppings in the corner, the entire floor, the tops of boxes, inside containers were all covered in mouse droppings. I reported it to the office attendant. He said they would sweep it up and set out a couple of traps. He was very unsympathetic or caring about our situation. We have three king size mattresses and box springs, numerous items of bedding, towels and other fabrics in the unit. They obviously covered themselves in the contract, but at least give a damn about our situation. $300 a month for two years and they will do nothing for us. We purchased insurance, but everything will be prorated and we will get very little compensation. When we ask to speak to a supervisor, the kid on the phone says" I am the supervisor". With our unit being infested, I'm pretty sure there are multiple units also infested as well. If you have items stored at Meathead, I would suggest you go inspect it. We are extremely disappointed with Meatheads attitude toward this issue, their unwillingness to contact anyone higher up, and basically their "we are not responsible" attitude. I'm sure this can happen at any storage facility, but for Christ's sake, at least act like you care.

Five Stars -- Truly the Best Storage Facility I've Ever Experienced!!…read more Broad Street Storage is hands-down the best storage facility I have ever dealt with in my entire life -- and that's saying a lot after many years of using storage units. Their customer service is unmatched. Every single person I've interacted with has been kind, sympathetic, professional, and genuinely caring. There is nothing corporate, cold, or transactional about this place. It feels like a true hometown, family-run business run by good people who actually care about their customers as human beings. I was diagnosed with cancer in August, and during one of the most overwhelming and stressful periods of my life, they went above and beyond with compassion, understanding, and patience. They made what could have been an incredibly stressful situation feel manageable -- something I will never forget. Their empathy and consideration genuinely made my life easier at a time when I needed it most. The difference between Broad Street Storage and other storage companies is night and day. I've dealt with some truly awful, dehumanizing experiences at large corporate storage chains -- including StorQuest -- where I was treated with zero compassion or basic decency. Broad Street Storage is the exact opposite of that. They set a standard that is so far above the usual low bar in this industry that it's almost unbelievable. This is what happens when good people run a good business. If you are looking for a storage facility where you will be treated with respect, kindness, and genuine care -- look no further. I cannot recommend Broad Street Storage highly enough.

This review only concerns U-Haul rental - I have no experience with the individual storage units…read more To de-bunk the prior review claiming that this place tries to scam you with truck rentals, I can assure you that is not the case. Service here was the quickest I've ever received when it comes to renting a truck. I showed up at 11:50 am for a noon rental, and was on the road by 11:57. In regards to the gas gauge, they show you in a written contract where the gauge is prior to giving you the truck. If it's not full, they tell you to just return it where it was. I drove to Atascadero and back in my 10' rental, put literally 2.5 gallons in, and went over what they required. These trucks are pretty efficient. Stan (I'm going off his signature) was incredibly helpful in making sure I understood every detail of my charge ($.79/mile, $14 insurance, $20/day rental, etc.) both at the beginning and end of my time with the truck. He even let me know I could bring it back the next day and still be within the 24-hour period - I only needed it for 3 hours, but that really put me at ease that I wouldn't have someone in the office counting the minutes until they could slam me with another charge. All in all, I would definitely rent from this place again. U-Haul corporate sets the pricing (my gripe being that those mileage fees can creep up on you), but that's not SLO Self Storage's authority. Next time I need a truck, I'll definitely return.
