I'm writing this review after multiple issues we've had with this business. First off, we were locked out of our unit "by mistake" - Ownership put their own lock on our unit, and after multiple calls it was determined they locked the wrong unit.. Ok, I guess... Moving forward to this last instance, we were contacted by a rep at the lot about a balance that was due - fine, i get it.. and Let's be real 2020 was rough on EVERYONE! I'm sure lot's of people got behind in one way or another... We offered to come make a payment on the account that day, and the rep told my mother the owner was out of town, and she would get back to us about the amount due. The next correspondence we get is from the owner telling us we've been locked out and the storage unit will be auctioned off.. Excuse me? We still have no idea what balance is due.. What kind of response is this for an owner to give a customer IN ANY type of business? I'll be contacting them myself, paying the balance due, getting our belongings out of there and spreading the word about their horrible customer service! Indeed, our experience with Sammie and the facility itself has been excellent -- in contrast to initially dealing with the website itself. Because of that and your helpful reply, we're changing the rating to 5 stars. Recommendations Since the website is the public face of the company, if it's possible to add any custom text to the site (perhaps an FAQ), I'd recommend: * Clarifying that the in-person rate is the same as the "web rate." [Knowing this would have obviated much of the hassle of the experience, and a feeling that we *had* to go through the site to get some discount.] * Advising prospective customers that if they need to make any changes to a reservation, it's best just to call the office. Beyond that, I hope the people who created the site (template) do take some of the prior feedback to heart. It'd make for a much-improved customer onboarding experience. Thanks again for your reply. However, I'm not impressed with the customer onboarding process so far, and that has me wondering whether this may have been a mistake. Several yellow flags: - I used the web form to schedule a move-in, successfully, and got a confirmation. And then only later realized that it had confirmed me for a day when the office isn't even open. Whaaat? How would someone do a move-in when no one's there? (And why would their system allow that? It's a customer experience waiting to fail -- and apparently, it has.) - The prominently-advertised web promotion (of a free 2nd month and free truck rental) showed up in the email response as: "Click here to receive coupon - See manager for details." ... but in plain text, no hyperlink, and so, no "here" to click on. So I still have no idea what the "details" are, or whether I'd get that much-promoted special. Right out of the gate, I feel strung along. - The website seems to obfuscate the difference between the web-only rates, vs. the regular rental prices (mainly because it conspicuously avoids showing the regular prices). It's also not clear whether the reservation I have will be good for those prices, if I reserve online and do the paperwork in person. (Yes, I did read the fine print.) So the prospect of showing up with a confirmed web reservation, only to be told that the advertised price somehow doesn't apply is disconcerting. If so, it'd be like a bait & switch. Of course, I won't know until I'm there, but the uncertainty itself is unnerving. - The web form insists on getting a *Mobile* phone number. They're certainly entitled (and I would want them to have) a current contact phone number -- but it's up to me which one I provide. So there's some arrogance there. (Unfortunately, the obsession with insisting on mobile numbers has become all too common, because most people simply do what they're told.) So the business might turn out to be highly-reputable ... but these don't seem like tactics that reputable businesses use. And it's possible the actual move-in and rental will go very smoothly -- that, I'm waiting to see. If so, I'll update this review. So far, though, I don't have a great feeling about this. You know what they say about first impressions ... ~ EDIT (9/2/21): I just tried to change the reservation date online. And while it accepts a reservation #, it doesn't allow those changes -- it will only "Convert to a Rental". So the website is single-mindedly fixated on "the sale" or "upsell" (which means if it were a person, it'd be just another pushy salesperson.) Still not impressed. :/ ~ EDIT (9/7/21): We did follow up by visiting the facility, and were quite satisfied with the experience in person. Sammie is very friendly, patiently answered all our questions, and made us feel completely at ease; she's a great asset to the company -- much more than the website is. So now I feel secure with the facility itself, and we may indeed be customers for years to come. I'm going to leave the rating as-is, however, since our first impressions (via the web onboarding experience) were negative overall, for the various reasons stated earlier. Hopefully the owner(s) will see the review and make constructive changes accordingly, to improve that experience for others in the future. [If there's a takeaway for customers, it might be to place the initial reservation online, and then just call to confirm and to make any changes -- thus avoiding the debacle of attempting those on the web.] :/ read more

If your looking around , save this one for last because it'll blow the other one out of the water. I love this place for the security and Service. They have Indoor and outdoor units, I was shown big ones and smalls ones. Sammie aims to please, if it wasn't for her I would have moved my storage unit to one near my new home. Knowing that my unit cannot be accessed easily is a huge relief, if I have any issues about getting in it's just a simple phone call to the wonderful desk representative Sammie. When I first got this unit I was in a panic, I was out of time, and needed something ASAP, I was in and out in a matter of 30 minutes. The process was so smooth and clear purely because of Sammie, I don't plan on moving my storage unit even though I live over 30 miles away now because I don't want to deal with anyone else. I can't say I've been the easiest to work with, I've been late on my Bill, but Sammie never failed to understand my situation and not judge someone who was struggling due to Covid. I have recommended two other people here and they now have a storage unit right next to mine, and Sammie took care of each one of my friends. I didnt write this review right away because I wanted to see how long this service would last, and we'll it has!!! Central Coast Self Storage is a great place to store your belongings. The facilities are immaculate and their customer service is awesome! They helped my family and I get a storage unit for a reasonable price and immediately assisted us with upsizing a unit when we realized we needed more space. The location is easily accessible and very well maintained by their excellent staff. We will definitely be recommending them and use them again when we need to. Easy to deal with! My kid is at CalPoly, stored her stuff here for two months. Just $54 per month. Yeah, it's about a 30 min drive from SLO, but no big deal. Easy to work with, clean, secure. The 5x5 space had plenty of room for a bicycle plus all her gear for the summer. I'll go back to them next summer. read more

I had a 10 by 20 unit for 3 1/2 months, and sold some of my stuff. I transfered to a 10 by 15 across the asle and just moved out after 5 months. The staff was great and helped with everything. Glad I stayed there. I will come back in the future. Ian read more

I am so very impressed with the service at Central Coast Storage! Gina in particular was awesome! From the moment I walked in she was friendly and very informative. No hidden fees or added move in costs. They offer a variety of storage unit sizes and all I viewed were clean and secure. Choosing them was a no-brainer. Knowing my belongings were safe gave me much peace of mind the past 9 months. Moving can be chaotic and stressful, but Gina made this part of the process much more easier and simple. Very friendly and helpful staff and manager (Gina), clean grounds and clean unit, was able to maneuver a moving van and trailer around easily. I forgot my key once (left it 3 hours away in another city) and they had the old lock off in less than 5 minutes so I could get to my stuff. Also was able to pay online so that was awesome.
