Things have really gone downhill the last couple years. They seem to hire anybody with a pulse with zero customer service skills. I'm looking at you, Brian. I have managed a different storage facility, and worked at another. It's not that difficult to be pleasant and helpful. Because of their poor customer service, I do my transactions online. But when I tried to pay my bill, the website had been "improved", making it impossible to navigate. So when I called to office to get help, all I got was abruptness, condescension, and attitude. Fort Locks Self Storage - Second floor view - Self Storage Near Me - Nipomo, California

This place has gone downhill. Been here almost 5 years and have grown to 3 storage units. Prices go up & up & up and accommodations down, down down. When I came we had access to water, but now it is locked off. No way to rinse anything we off. So, I bring 5 gal. Of water and it becomes a rat death trap. The RATS have been out of control & I've lost so much. Clothes, blankets, comforters, flags, rugs, shoes, packaging, 2 mattresses luggage, cases of drinking water completely chewed thru. Many things completely ruined, have yet to go all the way into units & thru things to find severe extent of damage... In the last year, the security gates have been broken & will not allow access or exit. I've been locked both out & inside overnight w/a dozen other people. Finally had to call police as no one from Fort Locks would answer calls. Now, I've started a new biz & am not allowed extended access as other biz owners enjoy. Feel I am punished by limiting access to first, office hours, and now prohibited from weekend access at all. This will NEVER work for me as packaging and biz things in inside storage units. I WILL BE SO HAPPY TO BE OUT OF THIS OVERPRICED, UNCARED FOR PLACE, but very difficult timing and now blocked from actually leaving. Brian, is the curmudgeon employee who has the personality of WET SOCKS & is completely unhelpful & demeaning to others w/ his comments, but they can't seem to keep any good help. This mini storage is a joke. First of all we found a dead rat with maggots inside our boxes. We complained to the manager he assured us he would take care of the problem when in reality nothing has been done to take care of the infestation. Went to storage recently and our stuff has more rat feces and who knows what else in our new boxes that we bought and cleaned everything out. On top of that our belonged are getting eaten by the rats. This is unacceptable and very upsetting. They don't care about your belongings clearly. You pay monthly rent thinking you'd have a secure and clean storage come to find out all your belongings are getting ruined. Don't waste your money on this storage facility!! read more

What can I say, I have been with Fort Locks in Nipomo since they first opened (about 15 years). I did leave for a short time but I returned to Fort Locks. The property is clean, and I have had a great experience with the staff. The prices are right in there with the local market. In fact over the weekend, I just rented a SECOND unit and Cheyenne was very helpful in finding me the best unit for my needs. For the MOST part, they deserve 5 stars, but they are under new ownership, and I am not a fan of the new company. read more

Just when you think that maybe you might get some help with the situation boom they slam the door in your face well now we found out that our lock has been cut off there's a different lock on it along with some yellow zip tie thing and we've given them $800 in the last 2 months and they still say that we own another $200 $1,000 over a 2-month period of time and that's not enough for him they got to cut a locker this is not going to be pretty read more

I was looking for storage place and saw this location online. It seemed like it was well maintained and had nice security. The prices were in the middle for the area. I decided to stop by and check it out. I was greeted at the door by a male employee and he was not friendly. I had questions about sizes and he rudely and sarcastically stated "5x5 is 5 feet by 5 feet."He spoke in a condescending tone. He wouldn't show me a unit and didn't try and explain anything, just handed me a card. Very disrespectful and horrible customer service. Clearly he wasn't interested in getting business, so I went elsewhere. I will never recommend a place that has poor customer service and this place has just that. read more

Mice! Mice! Mice! had an absolutely horrible experience with this storage company. I had original parts for my classic muscle car sitting in storage for less than six months. In six months my seats are completely ruined and smell like urine, my center consul has chew marks in it, And many other items have been eaten or destroyed. I have brought this matter up to managements on a few different occasions in their response is that they're not responsible for any damages to my belongings and the best they can do is set some traps throughout their property to catch the mice. And all they could do is refer me to insurance. The last time I spoke with management What's the middle of September and I simply ask them to prorate the rest of my month and get me out of my storage unit. They called me back and said that they wouldn't do that and that I had to finish at the end of the month and all they could do was again refer me to insurance for reimbursements. It is very obvious to me that they care less about their clients in more about their pockets than anything else. All I asked was that they pro-rate me out of the unit (reimburse the prepaid part of the month I wouldn't be using) but again said sorry they couldn't do that. So disappointing.... read more

Fort Locks was great to work with over the past 4 years. Everyone was always so very pleasant. I dealt mostly with Tiffany. She always worked to be as accommodating as possible. When we needed to change locker sizes they always worked with us. Tiffany always did her best to meet our needs. The property is always clean. Fort Locks will be my first choice when I need storage solutions again. read more

Have rented a storage at several places over the past 20 years and these people are very easy to deal with and have handled payments and information quickly and efficiently.
