Two must order items: Wine sampler and cheese plate. Do it.
Situated in the middle of Bacharach, you will always see a few tourists and locals sitting on the picturesque patio. Like most places in this small town, you'll see lots of old wood, English menus, and general German-ness. Where Weingut Bastian Fritz excels is in its wide selection of German wines and delectable German dishes. The pinnacle of the menu is the 15 glass Wine Carousel (22,50 euros), as recommended by travel guru Rick Steves, featuring 14 whites and one lone Rose. It's more than enough for two people, and pairs extremely well with the cheese plate. I'd recommend doing the tasting in order as it does from dry to sweet on the tasting list. Each one is better than the last and well worth the euros. Buyer beware - no credit here, cash only. read more
