Ordered takeout here while in town for Christmas Eve for about a dozen people. Called several hours in advance for pickup time and confirmed that it wouldn't be a problem. Arrived 5 minutes early to pick up, and only after paying (and leaving a tip, Christmas and all) do they cryptically "check on the food" by calling over an intercom that a specific order number had arrived. I assumed this was for the kitchen to bring out my order, but then nothing came out, and I watched them do this to several more people who came in after me. As the minutes ticked by, I realized they hadn't even started on the large order. This become more evident as the dozen or so people waiting in the lobby started discussing among themselves when each had ordered and how long they had been waiting, etc.. My pick up time came and went. Then another 5 minutes, then 10, then 20, then 30... All while watching people that had ordered hours after me get their food, only because they showed up in person and paid first. This restaurant is apparently so afraid of getting a no-show order that they were only starting to make the food once people showed up and paid. Ridiculous. Especially considering that even if someone bailed, they had dozens of other customers likely ordering the same things behind them and the food wouldn't go to waste. The worst part was I had ordered food from another restaurant that was already sitting in my car getting cold (that restaurant had actually come through and had food ready at the proper pick up time). Steer clear. I had a dozen upset but luckily understanding people waiting 45 minutes past when we had been told. Of course this story was relayed to all of those people so they knew who was at fault, and again here to hopefully dozens more who will think twice about ordering from these guys in the future, especially for an event or large order. Shame on you, Cam. This isn't how you run a business. read more

What? I'm writing this review primarily to combat the only other review here. But the 5 stars I give is justified. This is the best Chinese in town. They've changed their food a little since 2007, maybe that is part of it. But if you want things spicier than they come just ask for it on a 1-5 level. I can handle spiciness very well and like my food very spicy, and when I order a 5-level general chicken, it certainly meets my desires. The dinner boxes are great options and usually what I get. I generally get chicken dishes and all those are spectacular. read more

Poor delivery, and the food was not good either. The delivery guy got lost, and then when he finally got here he complained about how "this puts a crimp in his delivery route", but he didn't care to apologize to the customer standing right in front of him. The food was cold because he took so long getting here, but worse than that it just didn't have much flavor. The egg rolls were bland and had way too much dough. Fried rice and lo mein were both pretty bland. It generally doesn't take much for Chinese food to please us, but both my wife and I agreed this was no good. I've never been in the actual restaurant, but from this experience with their delivery food I won't bother stopping by. read more

My husband and I went to lunch here Saturday (1-18-2014). I got the combo of Chicken chow mien with fried rice and an egg roll. My food arrived just about cold like it had been sitting out on the counter too long. It also had the flavor of leftovers in lieu of freshly cooked food. I could not eat it. Waiter was not very attentive and when he did finally come to ask how everything was I had lost my appetite. My husbands entree was mediocre as well. The "lunch box" portions were quite small, although the dish was quite nice to look at. Supposedly this restaurant has won awards but I think that Chopsticks in Lewiston is much much better, with larger portions. It seems to me that Wei Li spends more time on the appearance of their restaurant, and as a result- the flavor of their food is quite lacking. I went there with my parents, and my mother had such a difficult time with the Sesame chicken (very tough)- that she had to go to the restroom a couple of times to better secure her dentures with denture cream. This made for a pretty uncomfortable and disappointing experience for all. I have had MUCH better sweet and sour chicken elsewhere, the pork fried rice is very plain (try to avoid it), and as mentioned earlier- the portions leave a lot to be desired.. we were still hungry when we left. read more

Meh. Certainly nothing special, for take-out at least. We picked up a decent assortment of apps, proteins and sides for a group of six. I guess the common thread with everything was its blandness, even the General's chicken tat was ordered HOT. What a great place to just go and have some nice relaxing food. Here you will get what you pay for, yes Wei-Le is a bit expensive but for good fresh food, you have I pay. Overall This is a great place to go. The sushi is great and that's what counts to me. This is the first place I ever had sushi so of you don't like it don't go here. The building is nice and the staff is very nice. Overall I give it a 4 star, because I have never had REAL 5 star food before. So this is as close I as think I can get. read more

Also writing this review because of the absurdity of the first comment (maybe the experience was different 4 years ago?) I never thought about going to Wei-Li because the commercials on tv seemed a little too awkward (if you've seen them, you probably know what I mean) and didn't know anyone that went there. However, after going one night with my boyfriend, I was very pleased. You can order pretty much any dish with a spiciness level from 1-5. Boyfriend was very pleased with his lvl 5 shrimp entree (the waiter had asked 2 or 3 times if he was sure he wanted it that spicy before ordering). I ordered a simple lvl 2 General Chicken, which I was also happy with. The biggest Pro is: I'm pretty sure they make most, if not all of their dishes to order. This experience was the first time I've gone out to eat after a new diet, which included no foods with Vitamin K (leafy greens) because of a medication I had just started. I told the waiter this and he made sure there were no scallions or anything else that contained Vit K (normally I'd love it). I honestly want to give them 5 stars just because of how amazing it is for a place to accommodate such a strange request. The biggest Con is: The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service, which was a litter slower than normal to begin with. I had sushi, which was fairly good. I enjoyed the caterpillar roll, and some basic nigiri sushi (salmon, tuna, & yellow tail). My fellow diner had sweet & sour chicken (a combo), and the portions were great. The food was excellent. We were stuffed. read more

I live this place. The food doesn't weigh u down like most Chinese places. The employees are always super friendly. I absolutely love the chow mein. Not slippery and slimy like other places. I think I just paid for 12.00 of broccoli. This is the second time we have tried the take out and both times have been awful. The first time was the dinner box offerings, pretty awful, cold and bland and the spring rolls was doughy. Tonight we thought we would try again (2 years later, take out again) and ordered the Broccoli & Beef and the Amazing Chicken with steamed brown rice and 2 Egg Rolls. There was maybe (and I am being generous) 3 oz of beef and a whopping 4 cups of mostly raw broccoli, very little sauce and what was there was bland, bland, bland and COLD. Considering how cheap flank steak or london broil is they could have put more meat it there. Really, really disappointed. The Amazing Chicken was better for proportions but the chicken was long, stringy pieces. Why? The egg rolls were lukewarm, full of sour tasting cabbage and doughy and also COLD. I don't think these were re-fried like they should have been - someone just tossed them in the microwave. Disgusting and inedible. Fresh ingredients- new sushi bar. Sometimes you can see staff making th crab rangoon by hand! thats fresh as it gets- no frozen imitation- health menu if you are in need. There is no better place to eat in the greater L/A area for Chinese food than Wei Li. I have never EVER ordered anything here that I didn't like. Wontons come complimentary within minutes of being seated, the servers are absoultely wonderful, and you never have to ask for a water refill. My fiance generally orders sushi, which is always good (even I like it, and that says a lot). I usually get a box dinner of choices. My only request would be to change some of the side options in the box dinner because two out of three are dumplings (smaller variety)...although i've never asked, they might switch something out for you. The only better chinese food i've ever had comes from a Chinese/Japanese restaurant in Bangor, ME called The Green Tea. Wei Li is GREAT! read more

I miss this place!!! I used to come here at least twice a week when I lived in auburn, ME. No place has compared even in the capital of DC. The service is amazing. The family that owns this place is not only caring about how and what their customers think but have a wonderful family that reflects upon the restaurant in an amazing way! I've ordered takeout from this place a few times, and the food is definitely good. It even seems quite healthy. However, it's a little pricey and they charge an $8 delivery fee for orders under $22. It's still pretty good tho. I wish I could give it three and a half stars. read more

Wei-Li is possibly the best chinese restaurant in Maine, and one of the best I've ever eaten in anywhere. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and never mushy or overcooked. Today was the first time I've had anything from Wei-Li. I wish I could have given them 5 stars however I can't because my order was wrong. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken lunch special with pork fried rice and an egg roll. After using my 1/2 hour lunch break to go pick it up, (along with my co-workers order that was correct), I got back to my work place and found that I had been given chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice and teriyaki beef. I still ate it because I didn't have time to go back and have it corrected and it was still delicious. I hope the next time I order it will be correct. Wei Li is definately the best chinese restaurant in Auburn. There food is always hot, the people are always friendly, and the food is excellent. I highly recommend Wei-Li. Wei-Li is very easily THE best Chinese food restaurant in Maine. The food is incredibly well made and extremely fresh. There's everything from really fresh sushi, to general tso's, to specific, health-conscious dishes and even the boring staples are surprisingly delicious. The staff is really on top of its game, really great service. The owner is a really nice guy and seems to enjoy interacting with guests and making sure you're taken care of (he even insisted on filling our takeout containers, then gave us extra chips!) The place is somewhat small but it's got a really nice atmosphere, quiet and relaxing. Love this place. read more
