NP Joanne was helpful and the bright spot here, but the rest of the office has been frustrating…read more Appointments are repeatedly canceled at the last minute, referrals have been to the wrong clinics, and prescriptions have been entered incorrectly, leaving me to sort things out with little to no help from the office. I've never met or heard from Dr. Sharma despite being a patient here for a while. I've just been shuffled between different NPs. At this point, I don't even know if she exists, or if they are just running an office under her name. No one in this office communicates with each other. When I tried to resolve repeatedly last-minute canceled appointments needed for my work clearance, the Office Manager's solution was simply: Go elsewhere. . . Sure: Go elsewhere and pay 400+ for an otherwise free vaccine, or try to find an available PCP with my tier of insurance when no one is accepting . . . Hard to recommend if you want consistent, coordinated care.

NP Joanne Fascio gets a pass bc she was very helpful…read more However - if I could rate this place ZERO stars, I would. The prescription process here was a nightmare. They had to send me to 3 different pharmacies, because all businesses claimed to NOT receive the script or fax from this office. If it was just 1 or even 2, maybe its just an error.. I can understand that. But when it's 3 different pharmacies, obviously there's some clerical error or network issue. That should be a clear indication that something is wrong, and idk..maybe your team should follow up?? But no... instead, it was me that was calling back & forth, sending emails, requesting follow ups, talking to pharmacists... Why am I doing the job that the office workers should be doing?? Ultimately I decided to part ways because I deserve to receive better care and their blatant disregard to find a resolution was disrespectful. Don't waste your time here. They dropped the ball and never took accountability.

Cons - I made an appointment to have prescriptions refills. Dr Chen said it was mandatory to have…read morean appointment as it had been over a year since my last visit with her (not a problem). When I scheduled my appointment, I explicitly asked for a medication assessment, as suggested by my therapist due to escalating anxiety and depression symptoms. At no point prior to my appointment was I informed that they do not provide that service and the Dr seemed confused about it when I went for my appointment. Long story short, the Dr was completely insensitive to my struggles with anxiety/depression. She suggested I try drawing or hiking because hiking makes her happy, she also said that therapy should be working. Pros - I like that they are able to communicate via text, it's really convenient. Wait time was minimal when I went for my last appointment. Dr suggested a magnesium supplement Calm to help with anxiety. I purchased it and will give it a try. She suggested a referral to a psychiatrist, which would have been helpful know prior to that appointment. I'm sure she's great with some clients, the experience was just horrific for me personally so I will be seeking a new doctor.

What good is health coverage if you cannot get in to see a doctor?…read more I am 61 years old and covered by Medi-Cal. I called to arrange primary care at Hayward Wellness near Southland Mall because I need a doctor closer to home. I am transferring from a good provider farther away--not because I was unhappy with my care, but because getting there was inconvenient. The answer I received was that I would have to go on a waiting list. There is something seriously wrong when a person trying to establish basic medical care is left waiting for access to a doctor. We are talking about primary care--the very care that is supposed to catch problems before they become emergencies. Californians deserve to know where their health-care dollars are going and why patients still encounter barriers like this. Any waste, mismanagement, or corruption should be investigated wherever evidence supports it. But patients should not have to prove corruption before anyone takes their inability to obtain care seriously. Alameda Alliance's own published standard generally calls for nonurgent primary-care appointments within 10 business days, subject to documented clinical exceptions. If this clinic cannot accommodate me, what is the plan to get me appropriate care elsewhere? Who is responsible for making that happen? I want this treated as a formal complaint about access to care. I am requesting an explanation of the waiting list, a concrete appointment option, and a review of whether applicable access standards are being met. Being insured should mean something when you pick up the phone and ask for help. Patients deserve answers, appointments, and accountability--not an indefinite place in line. This is unacceptable. It does not reflect the America I believe in, where basic promises should mean something and public institutions should answer to the people they serve. Something has to give--and it should not be the patient's health.
