I do not know what this location was like before the remodel. That said, in my opinion, this is the worst Wegmans location by far. It's truly a shame that it's the closest one to the downtown area. The parking lot is atrocious. The produce department is a claustrophobe's nightmare. The aisles are a game of chicken. It is impossible to have an easy shopping trip without frustration in this store. If you misplace a coupon (or your peace of mind) while shopping, good luck finding it - you won't. It is also not uncommon for the app to show something as in-stock despite the store itself not having it. read more

I usually would give any wegmans a 4 or 5 stars for a rating. However the East Ave Wegmans is designed very poorly, everything seems cramped together and parking is horrendous. It's odd that the rochester police department need to assist with directing traffic while people are getting their sunday groceries. Beloved by the Rochester community for good reasons. Imagine a cheaper, less pretentious version of Whole Foods. A Whole Foods for the working man, if you will. What Wegmans does GREAT (it does most things "good"): 1) Cheese: Even my European friends are blown away the selection and quality 2) Cereal: Love, love, LOVE Wegmans cereal. Not going back to name brand if I can help it. 3) A great mix of the mundane and exotic produce: While Wegmans has all your regular American fare, they also have a good rotating selection of weirder, rarer stuff. Compared to other groceries, Wegmans is always a step ahead. Compared to other Wegman's... the East Ave venue falls short. This is my go-to store only because it is the most convenient one. Parking is a bit rough. I always just park far away... I'd rather walk than jockey between other cars. Most evenings they have crossing guards out to help shoppers cross to the further portion of the lot. This Wegmans is the smallest one I have been to, and has a more limited selection of some items. The frozen food selection and cold deli offerings are noticeably smaller. Their prepared food is decent. I do LOVE their rotisserie chickens. I feel the food bars are overpriced though... I have never been impressed by anything there. Staff is generally nice. Groceries are always a mixed bag (PUN) when it comes to employees but I've never had an issue. Store is always busy. 12pm on a weekday? Busy. 8am on the weekend? Busy. 2am on a Sunday? Busy. Just expect it to be busy. read more

This Wegmans is just like any other Wegmans I've been to in Rochester and that's a good thing! And one big thing about this Wegmans is that while it's plop in the middle of the excellent and busy streets of East Ave & University Ave... it still has a great and ample parking lot. They got lucky with this spot because if they had never grabbed this lot decades ago.... I don't know where they'd fit a Wegmans in this particular area and to include it's necessary parking lot, too. read more

When I first moved to Rochester, people always said "You've gotta go to Wegman's, you'll love it". This was around the time the older Wegman's on East Ave still existed and I wasn't too impressed. I then traveled over to Pittsford and I was floored... This was Wegman's is all about. I'm so glad they redid the Wegman's on East Ave again as it was in dire need of more parking and larger space. The prepared foods are fantastic, the sushi is amazing and I can't get enough of the Mediterranean bar. The large cheese/meats section and expanded craft beer selection is icing on the cake. It's great to head over there for a quick bite to eat and I'm hard pressed to find something that they don't have when we cook for ourselves. Everyone I talk to that has worked or continues to work at Wegmans has nothing but good things to say. A fantastic local employer that gives back to the community. A+. read more

Ugh, this location is just so cramped and awful compared to other Weggies. The organization of the foods is hard to follow and the aisles are too narrow to get your cart around comfortably. I think the only difference here is that the store is brand new. It is still small / poor layout that is was before. However, the aisles are wider and the lighting is bright making the space appear bigger which I think was needed. It still has the same character as the old East Ave Wegman's, just with a new paint job. I think people enjoy the small store though because it's true to Wegman's, and not the commoditized chain it is becoming. But, the parking lot only has two entrances now, and is still the same size, which is not fun during high traffic hours. Also, I went in the evening hours, around 10pm, and the music was so loud! I was actually taken back by how loud the music actually was because I have never experienced that in Wegman's, or any grocery store, for that matter. Of course Wegmans is great! I love being able to find everything in here, food is nicely displayed and fresh because of the volume they sell. My only complaint is that I always seem to come home with much more than I went in for (good & bad), plus it seems to be getting more expensive...... As a Rochester native, I've always thought wegmans was pretty much the best store around, however over the years wegmans has somewhat disappointed me. And in particular, the east ave wegmans is TERRIBLE! I get irritated just pulling into the parking lot! Tons of commotion, whoever designed the parking lot should be punched in the face daily for eternity! As for the store, it's kinda small and the isles are narrow. The produce is often not the greatest (very uncharacteristic of wegmans) and very often they are out of things (also not common of other wegman stores)... and they have replaced a lot of name brand products with "wegmans" brand... sometimes I don't want wegmans brand "whatever", I want the real thing, in which case I should have that option... management needs to get it together! read more

I really like this locale. Sort of a mini Pittsford. Most recently went early on New Year's Day, and there was only a handful of people there, yay! I agree it can get a little crazy @ busy times...particularly the parking lot, which is a bit narrow for our big SUV. Their bakery, produce, and cheese selections are very fine, as well as their prepared food, if you are into that. Employees are super customer oriented, even by Wegmans standards! read more

I have been shopping at Wegmans for 20 years. It's high prices no longer outweigh food value. Steak is tough, ready meals continue to get smaller, 15.00 for a salad, (??? Really I can go out to eat and get waited on) and now they are monopolizing food labels and now longer offer all brand names (only Greek yogurt is Wegmans brand)---stop being so greedy Wegmans!!! This review is for the new Wegmans on Winton/East/University: I finally, after apparently about three years since it was remodeled, got in there one morning at 5am, when I happened to be passing it under unusual conditions. I had the spare time, so figured I'd take advantage of finally checking it out, knowing the parking would surely be miserable during the day. I was told it was an amazing new store. But it unfortunately didn't meet my expectations at all. The produce section seemed noticeably smaller (specifically organic options), the layout and architecture wasn't as spectacular as one would hope from Wegmans, and the cement floors were a surprise. It was interesting to see what they could do with such a limited available space to work with though. It was quickly clear that they moved the old store front back towards Winton substantially, as when you entered or left the store you now notice several businesses on East avenue are now further away from you. But the cashier told me parking is still incredibly miserable there during the day (I don't doubt it for a second, and is why I won't even bother) and surely deliveries must be atrocious for truck drivers...they apparently have to dock on the Winton side (???)...that must be HORRIBLE! So little ROOM! I am used to Wegmans Pittsford, Penfield, Eastway and Holt, and like them all. I would visit the ultra-old one in Fairport if only I was closer to it, and I actually hope they maintain that store as is, due to the nostalgia factor alone; it's such a wonderful old-style store. read more

The fruit is mealy and nasty. They won't takes returns due to Covid so your stuck with the expensive rotted food. They refuse to take action on people who enter the store without masks, despite their claims, they are NOT following Covid requirements. Wegmans is undoubtedly the happiest place on earth besides my Grandma's and Disney World, but this Wegmans does not cut it and I don't think anyone would disagree with me. Why is it so small? I mean, one third of the products that Wegmans usually sells small! It's like a tease. You see this big, beautiful Wegmans, you attempt to find a parking spot while dreaming about all of the wonderful foods you are about to buy, the fresh produce you are going to walk past and then you get inside and it's just puny and underwhelming. Limited everything. Small poultry selection, the last two times I came here they were out of boneless skinless chicken breasts. They don't have a large ice cream selection and unfortunately don't sell any of the Turkey Hill no sugar added Ice Cream. Their seltzer selection is minimal, everything is just miniature. There was no hallelujah chorus upon entering. It's simply the Wegmans you go to when you need one thing, like an avocado or bar of soap. Doing your weekly grocery shopping here just doesn't work, for me at least. read more

This Wegmans is convenient for me, but, YIKES.....the parking!! Well, enough said about that- everyone knows it is a horrendous parking lot , but at least they have hired people to help you park your car when it's busy! One other comment is that I have to say that I liked the selection before they renovated. There were certain products like the Wildwood Farms frozen wild blueberries, and unsalted dry--roasted almonds- QUALITY products which were eliminated to ensure that we have no choice, but to purchase the Wegman's brand products (which, of course are a much greater mark-up!) I still shop at Wegmans half-the-time, but am very disappointed that even tho the store was enlarged, the food selection is more limited than before.... (It's all about the almighty dollar!) So now I have to drive to the Winton Rd. Tops, Trader Joe's or Lori's in Henrietta to find the items I want! read more

I have always been a big fan of WEGMANS and have spoken of this establishment favorably however, my last few visit there have been less than stellar. I always noted the difference between Wegmans and Walmart being the friendly service provided by the former' staff. Specifically, the welcoming and friendly greetings, allowing customers to pass before they wheel a big cart or just seeming like they love their job. This Wegmans has been steadily going downhill in recent months. The buffet is filthy, and the food is often undercooked and/or stale. They recently hiked buffet prices by over 25%. The staff aren't very engaged and can be irritable. The buffet has extremely limited hours and is often out of most of the more popular dishes. read more

I've never heard of Wegmans, but I needed to find a 24hr grocery store while I was in Rochester. After reading reviews, I noticed that people were very pleased with Wegmans. Upon arriving, I was thoroughly impressed with the size and cleanliness. The selection was phenomenal and the layout was spot on. Furthermore, the produce looked fantastic. Without a doubt, Wegmans is my favorite grocery store now...even though I've only been in this one and will most likely not see another one for a long time. I was hopeful the new East Ave Wegmans would take into consideration the needs of local community it serves. It falls short on a number of levels. It has a massive prepared food/cafe section, which offers grossly overpriced goods that, frankly, are mostly average tasting and bland. They are opening a restaurant, which is the very last thing we need from Wegmans and a complete waste of valuable space. Parking is no better, not in the slightest. The produce section is no bigger than the old one, nor is the meat section or organic foods section. And there is no bulk food section at all. I guess the huge beer section is nice, but not at the expense of everything else that's lacking. Even the look of the store is only average... the aisles are narrow, and if you look up, you get the feel of being in a half completed warehouse with exposed spray insulation instead of a high end grocery. When it comes to price, quality and expanse of offerings, East Ave Wegmans has nothing I cannot get better and cheaper at Trader Joe's, the Public Market, or the Co-Op. This stores focus on profit without consideration for the community that made them successful in the first place is a slap in the face. read more

East Ave Wegmans had done a really nice job taking the best stuff from some of the bigger Wegmans stores, like Pittsford, and bringing it into the city in small amounts. They've also integrated their organics selection into nearly every aisle so it's just part of the shopping experience instead of the way Pittsford has Nature's Market. There's still a nature-oriented few aisles of East Ave near the pharmacy (aisles 1-3 or 4 I would say) for specific stuff like probiotics in the fridge, vitamins, specialty teas, juices, and gluten free stuff (plus more obviously). Their prepared foods section is awesome and you always find staff putting new food out throughout the day. Right after work it's crazy busy with people getting takeout, but they manage it pretty well. Overall I find this store pretty easy to navigate, especially when using my trusty Wegmans app. Because I split my shopping between East Ave & Pittsford the app switches stores based on where I'm located so I'm always able to find the stuff I need. I also find that the East Ave staff are very helpful when you ask. For example, a couple of times they've been out of the fresh bread that I wanted (Rosemary olive oil or organic sourdough or whatever) and they've made it on the spot while I'm shopping! It only took like 15-20 mins and hot bread is an amazing thing to bring home to the fam. Awesome service. East Ave is a smaller store than the others so sometimes they're more likely to run out of certain things - like organic onions or other organic produce, specialty cheeses, etc., but 99% of the time I find what I need. Their pharmacy is also great - quick and responsive. Wegmans has also done a good job managing a tough parking situation at this store. The employees park underground and they have designed the customer traffic flow pretty well. read more

Ordered a large 1 topping pizza and it was really good. Thin crust, great sauce and was only $12 for a really big pie.

Subs are delicious however most of the employees are very lazy & incompetent so your order will probably be incorrect.

I love Wegmans. Everything is really fairly priced, the store is clean, the people are friendly and they have a TON of stuff. The cashier was incredibly friendly, and shared some interesting facts about one of the items we were purchasing. We loaded up on snacks and hit the road. I'm very excited to visit the one that just opened near my home. Yay! read more

I love Wegmans and this one is definitely one of the better ones. It's huge and always busy. I live in this neighborhood and the one downside is this area seems to have alot of dbag guys and not very kid welcoming. I was just in yesterday and there were young guys cutting me off in aisles, running into the cart never saying excuse me or sorry. They would stand in the middle pretending I wasn't there and when I said excuse me they looked at me like I was speaking another language. While talking to my daughter I got dirty looks. Ofcourse this isn't Wegmans fault but still very annoying. I haven't tried their attached restaurant Amore yet. read more

I remember when Wegman's used to be a nice, good grocery store. Now it's a mediocre restaurant / deli that sells some groceries--and those that it mostly sells are mostly the mediocre Wegman's brand. Hey--you live in a company town, I guess you don't have much choice, so shut up and buy what you're told. The shelves are poorly stocked (it always seems to look now as though a storm is coming) and the selection of merchandise is drastically reduced. If you want to buy prepared fish or chicken, though, this is the place for you. The parking lot was designed by an expert in chaos theory. It's difficult to imagine that someone thought this would be a good idea. I can't help but wonder whether Wegman's is trying to see how much crap we'll take. read more
